Yes! More Wreckers-done-right, please Hasbro!

I was hoping for MTMTE designed, seeing how almost every other figure got the IDW appearance-treatment. A bit of a let down, but it just means more money saved for me.

Now make a damn Chromedome figure Hasbro! Maybe Tarn, Star Saber, and Brainstorm while you're at it! :P

I am too. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I never got the original Whirl when I was a kid and he was just so cool. Hopefully this will fill the void.

I did have Roadbuster, but somehow I broke the axle connecting his legs. So an updated Roadbuster would definitely fill that void as well.

Since I never had G1 Whirl, I'll buy him.

However, it is quite a bit disconcerting that a Voyager-sized toy looks so small, especially since he'll likely be going for $23 or more.

Maybe it's because I haven't read the latest comics, but I like this look and how it looks like the old toy.

That's the second or third time I've heard someone say that.

Small in comparison to what? There's nothing else in frame that I can see to compare scale to. And besides, he'll probably be the same size and quality as Springer/Sandstorm, which is to say, tall and solid.

The reason they couldn't do MTMTE Whirl is the fact that not only his skinny, curved legs would be hard to articulate, he'd be as top-heavy as Mega-class Cheetor, if not more-so. They could've done his pre-MTMTE design, though.

Holy cow!!! That.... looks.... bloody.... awful. :-( Not seeing why this has to be a voyager figure. It's far too similar to the G1 figure with his massive torso and stupidly lanky limbs.

I think I'll be sticking to RoTF Tomahawk and HeadRobots' Drone upgrade. repainted of course. ;)

Surely you realize that the arms are mistransformed, right? ;)

could just be the picture but the head looks like crap, hopefully its not cause it looks like a pretty good figure. At first glance it looks like they just took the G1 toy & added articulation.

Whirl (showed us sketch dated Oct 2012), then showed us design and grey model photos, has Gerwalk mode?, looks very cool, very reminiscent of G1 toy, comes with new sticker sheet

Full list is here.

I forgot all about the Gerwalk mode. I bet that would make him a little more interesting.

Nice. I like it. I can see both a Spinister and Rotorstorm repaint from this since the gun placement would allow for Spinister's Targetmasters or Rotorstorm's cannons with a bonus half-head for zombie Rotorstorm action.

Plus think of the colors. Dude, so many colors.

SDCC 2013 Coverage: Transformers Generations Voyager Whirl and Deluxe Dreadwing

Seibertron is live at the SDCC 2013 preview night, and we now have additional images of Transformers Generations Voyager Class Whirl and Deluxe Class Dreadwing! As previously stated in the first look story, Voyager Class Whirl was shown in prototype form at the Hasbro panel during last month's BotCon. As you can see the figure sports a very G1 appearance. We also have images of Dreadwing, a remold/redeco of the soon to be released Deluxe IDW styled Stealth Bomber Megatron. Other Generations figures on display include the following, which were previously on display at BotCon.

  • Voyager Doubledealer
  • Voyager Rhinox
  • Deluxe Goldfire
  • Deluxe Skids
  • Deluxe Thundercracker
  • Deluxe Waspinator
  • Deluxe Hoist

What if they used Strong ratchet joints in the legs and made his feet a tad bit wider? Like PRID Ultra Magnus's Arms? That and make the chest out of thinner, lighter plastic.

But I would have also accepted his pre-MTMTE design too, I just can't get myself to like this Whirl...

No offense meant to anyone who likes the figure, but every new Generations toy I see reaffirms my recent decision to stop collecting everything except Masterpiece, the quality just doesn't seem to be there anymore when comparing these figures to those that come from earlier in the "classics" lines :-(

'cept Metroplex of course ;)

No offense taken, but I respectfully disagree. At least in the voyagers' case - Springer is nearly indisputably awesome, and I love Blitzwing all the same. Guess we'll have to wait for Whirl to release before we get a final verdict either way.

I love how people are making decisions about it's "quality" and "size" when we haven't had it in hand or even SEEN IT next to anything well enough to compare it's size to yet.

Good lord, I really hope Whirl is mistransformed. Something about his head just doesn't look right, either.

And actually, Dreadwing was on display at BotCon. ;) On that note: good Lord, he's even more mistransformed than he was at BotCon! :BANG_HEAD:

I'm kinda liking that Whirl, even though I'd much prefer a MtMtE version. That back shot has me worried the whole main rotor section could fall out a lot, reminds me too much of that dreadful RotF Blazemaster mold.

Seeing that Dreadwing makes me wonder how properly transformed everyone else is...
