My only Thrilling 30-era mold is the movie retool of Stealth Bomber Megatron and probably the only purchese I've regretted. Yes, that's right, I'd take TR Galvatron over that hollow, flimsy and tiny mess.

I got no goddamn clue why I ever thought that mold would make a good addition to my collection. Okay well, actually I do: its a neat design with a new neat color scheme and head but sadly it failed to be worth it in the long run.

Dreadwind (DAT MASK LOL), Optimus (I've needed him in Leader class, and I see this as close as I'll get to MP10) and maybe Slash (more femme-bots!) are on my must-haves...

Oh and all the Prime Masters!

Looks like Windcharger and Beachcomber don't suffer the same issues as Wheelie.

Oh yeah, somehow I always forget about my floppy, loose Wheelie -- he just looks so much better than the G1 incarnation, I overlook it. :-P

Why should it do it ? You already have the toy which can do it.

Because the trailer just sits there doing nothing when not connected to Hot Rod. Same story with Orion Pax. Coming off a series where all of the Leaders had base modes it feels shortsighted to leave the trailers doing nothing for the smaller bot. Look at Optimus Primal, you can have the smaller version independent of the bigger gorilla. That's how I feel all of the Leaders should be.

Eh, I think it'll totally be possible to botch a decent base mode out of the shells anyway, even if it is just TR Powermaster Prime style.

Hmmm...out of these, looking like I'll get Windcharger, Slash, Beachcomber, Jazz, Swoop, Dreadwind, Starscream, and Rodimus.

Also 2000th post but nobody cares

And yet the following is, sculpt-wise, a more cartoon accurate Rodimus than either Masterpiece:

Image

Yeah. Hasbro's slapped stickers on it and calls it Hot Rod. It turns into a car (like Hot Rod) and merges with a trailer (like G1 Rodimus did).

And if Takara releases this same figure, makes the hands grey, makes it two tone maroon, and paints the hubcaps, you will have the truest cartoon Rodimus ever put to plastic, with Mega-SCF Rodimus as the closest other contender.

And since you likely can't make the inner robot magenta and keep the combining aesthetic, Takara will color the "Hot Rod" part in Rodimus Prime colors. (Which they have done a couple of times before, including the last release they did of Classics Hot Rod -- as a car version of "Rodimus Convoy" -- and the Targetmaster MP.)

The robot mode is a "super-mode" in this case. The "deluxager" scale figure is the real figure here as far as I'm concerned, especially since he's in cartoon model scale with every 86 movie character in the last 5 years except Blaster and, depending on the episode, Ultra Magnus. (With Optimus/Orion it's less clear given how MP-like Optimus is. And with Primal, I expect nobody will agree how to display him.)

I'm sure someone will make a turret station on Shapeways for $30 and/or a third party will release an add-on. With the Rodimus mold shipping in every known wave of POTP, I'd say that and Grimlock (and maybe Starscream) are the top candidates for add-on kits.

We have seen that the base for Rodimus (at least) converts into a Matrix stand. The big difference I'm seeing is that Hasbro is taking a break from advertising the worst modes (which the G1 trailers were as well). TR Perceptor's tank mode exists and was tooled for. They didn't push that. They didn't acknowledge all of Maximus' modes, right? They did acknowledge all of PM Prime's and they probably would have been better off burying the base mode in the instruction booklet.

The one design choice I am not happy with in the terrorcons is the fact that Sinnertwins beast mode heads don’t do anything other than fold into his back in robot mode. It’s always kind-of disappointing when you get a two-headed animal transformer and they don’t use the heads for anything, instead just doing the exact same thing every other quadrupedal transformer does and use the beast mode legs.

God, so far everything we've seen from PotP is a huge turn-off for me. Like, the engineering just looks so bad. How have we gone from the Goddamn Genius Thrilling 30 through the very nice Combiner Wars and the fun-as-hell Titans Return to this? Where has all the good sculpting gone? Why do the dinobots suck so many balls?

Am I the only one who feels this way? It just seems as though we've lost so much in terms of sculpting and engineering.

Wave 1 Deluxes from Transformers Power of the Primes Found at US Retail + In Hand Images of Dreadwi

Well this came out of nowhere, the Transformers Power of the Primes Wave 1 deluxes are now out at US retail. The sighting from Mostly Jetpacks on Twitter was from a Target in Arizona and we have been told that these have also been found in Texas. This makes the US the very first country in the world to have these at retail, beating Asian countries close to the manufacturing as well as online retailers.
Mostly Jetpacks just purchased Dreadwind but he made the most with it by giving us in hand images showcasing all the interplay at hand between this line, Titans Return and Combiner Wars. He shows us the combiner fist which has several features:

- thumbs on the right and left side which can be removed
- how they can fit on previous combiners
- how a Titan Master looks inside them
- how a Titan Master looks inside when it becomes an armor piece
- how the cover for the Prime Master hole in the hand can be used as a pistol

Dreadwind's wavemates are Autobot Jazz, Dinobot Slug and Dinobot Swoop. The retail price on these at Target was $16.99 USD.

Let us know if you find these deluxes or any other Power of the Primes toy and post it in our sightings section and sightings forum.

He sure is, all PotP Deluxes are.

And that's early! Me thinks the stores are ignoring the street dates again.

Hmm...looks as if Dreadwind ain't packaged with his wings attached. This makes me wonder two things:

1. How many other figures are gonna be partially disassembled in package?
2. Could the wings being able to detach have something to to with his combining with Blackwing/Darkwing?

Edit: Turns out that I was incorrect about my above statement. Please disregard.

Plus listings for other PotP figures from Taiwan.

I laughed by myself out loud past midnight when everyone else in the house was asleep.

Good times

And to answer your question, these seem to basically be the same as Combiner Wars but more involved where they take extra effort in hiding the combiner port in bot mode. And its cool how they found a way to use the real car front as a chest for jazz rather than doing a flap to imitate the front like on CW Prowl. So yeah, I feel these are a step up from Combiner Wars. But I do miss Thrilling 30 and their complex transformations. Granted, the new Blitzwing is better than the one from that line and I do preffer how the plstic feels on the figures in the prime Wars trilogy over the thrilling 30 figures which kept a hint of that terrible cheap plastic we got in FOC.

Now onto more news shortly, stay tuned!

In Hand Images of Deluxe Autobot Jazz from Transformers Power of the Primes

PostPosted: Sat Nov 11, 2017 11:29 pm
by william-james88
We previously wrote that the first wave of deluxes from Power of the Primes was found in the US, and fans quickly took to the internet to give us some in hand images. We now have some in hand images of Autobot Jazz for you, which were found on 4chan, posted anonymously. The in hand images below show how you could armor up both his robot mode and car mode. They also give us a nice shot of his back and most importantly show us something we have not seen before: his arm mode. Like with the combiner wars toys, Jazz (and every other Power of the Primes deluxes) can also become an arm or a leg for a combiner. He is compatible with the combiner torsos previously released in Combiner Wars

Jazz's wavemates in the deluxe class are Dinobot Slug, Dinobot Swoop and Dreadwindand and he was found for $16.99 USD. Let us know if you find these deluxes or any other Power of the Primes toy and post it in our sightings section and sightings forum.
