Yeah, but the ugliness of this Clunker Bumblebee's deco is the wrong kind of ugly. In the movie, his car mode looks old and worn out. The particular shade and degree of application for the brown on this toy instead makes it look less rusty and dingy and more nasty and mud-splattered (or splattered in some other brown-colored substance  ).

Quick comparison of these two cos I was asked to: Battle Blades/Revenge Optimus Prime (figure on right) is technically more accurate to the CGI model, certainly in transformation of the chest windows & legs but the arms are a total mess, the feet are tiny...And also mine is a very fiddly figure (the (red wheel rim section on the back keeps flopping off at the slightest touch) and the proportions are a bit off. The Studio Series figure has a lot more play value, better proportions and poses more naturally too. So in robot mode I truly think Studio Series 32 Optimus Prime is vastly superior. If we're talking truck mode though... well... BB/Revenge Prime has a superb truck mode with a lot of accurate parts (like proper tall smokestacks) the Studio Series figure doesn't.
It also hides the feet completely (but at the cost of them being so tiny) whereas the SS figure's feet are quite visible on the bed of the truck upside down and flat but still noticable. So basically if you want a great truck BB/Revenge wins, a fun playable robot figure? SS32!

I always value the robot figure over the alt-mode (in some cases I couldn't care less about the alt-mode whether it's cos of the character or the figure itself) because I'm more about wanting the robot character than a toy car/plane/whatever. Nice alt-mode is usually a bonus. :)

Video Review of Studio Series 34 Leader Class Dark of the Moon Megatron (English Language)

Seibertron.com member PrimeVsPrime has published our first English language review of the upcoming Studio Series SS-34 Dark of the Moon Leader Megatron on his YouTube channel! We had reported on a Chinese language review by Kevin Liu previously. This review by PrimeVsPrime showcases the converstion of Megatron from robot mode to vehicle mode, a licensed Mack M915 Line-Haul Replacement Tractor. PrimeVsPrime also shows off some of the articulation in robot mode and provides us with plenty of comparisons to other Studio Series figures in robot mode (SS-32 Voyager Optimus Prime, SS-31 Voyager Battle Damaged Megatron, SS-08 Leader Blackout, and SS-35 Leader Jetfire). We also get some nice comparisons with other Studio Series vehicle modes, in particular, SS-32 Voyager Optimus Prime and SS-29 Deluxe Sideswipe. Watch the review for yourself below.

Speaking of Studio Series 35 Leader Jetfire, PrimeVsPrime has also uploaded of that highly anticipated figure to his YouTube channel. You may recall that we newsed a video review recently by TonTon of YouTube. PrimeVsPrime's review features English language narration, whereas the TonTon review is almost strictly visual and without narration of any kind. The PrimeVsPrime video is available below for your curiosity.

What do you think of the first two new Leader Class figures for the Studio Series of 2019? Are they worth your purchase? Is the focus on screen-accurate robot mode scale paying off for this new joint venture of Hasbro and Takara Tomy? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned to Seibertron.com for the latest news on all things Transformers!

Yup. Well I already got Jetfire before that review but Megatron looks fun too and I almost got him at same time but there's only so much money in my bank account. :P

i wondering how much it costs to license so many real world vehicles for Studio Series. Does Hasbro make enough money from this line? Compared to something like Siege where all the alt-modes are made up sci-fi stuffs.

Jetfire looks fantastic in that review! The beard sticking out from under the jet mode still bugs me, but the kibble other than that isn’t too bad. It’s crazy how much improved it is from the ROTF Leader.

I guess that extra chest piece means DOTM Optimus will be metallic red, which would be really disappointing after SS MV1 Prime got the red right. Guess we’ll have to wait and see!

Also, fun fact: the claw in DOTM Crankcase’s Mechtech weapon lets Ironhide store it on his back in a not-so-bad stand in for the heavy iron rifles, at least until a third party company makes some proper ones. It doesn’t tab in or anything, but I thought it looked kinda cool!

I dunno. I think I'd be fine with a metallic paint job on DotM Prime. Would be a nice variant to make the main figure different enough from SS32 (thought I wish paint budget could give him his damn robot mode flames!) and I presume they'd be interchangable so you could put SS32 with the DotM trailer thingy and obviously (from what we assume) DotM Prime with Jetfire if you want. I just find it a bit strange that the ab piece is included with Jetfire and not as an extra with the DotM Prime. Cos at the moment it's completely unnecessary (and confused some people who switched the piece with the ab piece on SS32 cos they thought it needed to connect Prime to Jetfire when it isn't) and just a strange extra piece to put in the accessory box. Maybe DotM Prime is gonna max out the Leader class budget and Jetfire had a smidgey bit left in his? I dunno how it all works.

More weapons for Ironhide always fun. Heck, more weapons for any character is fun. :D As long as they are cool looking weapons. Like guns that actually look like guns and not two small car robots doing weird things to each other (I'm looking at your Roadhandler and Thingy from Siege). Would quite happily buy a weapons pack from Hasbro full of guns and swords and stuff that are styled to look great with any main Transformers line whether it Studio or Siege or whatever. You always get some figures who are seriously lacking in firepower these days.

I can’t wait to pick up Jetfire. He’s an automatic buy.

As for Megatron....eeeeeh....I want to like him. I was hoping that maybe I wouldn’t mind his huge blocky legs as much, after having so much fun playing with Siege Magnus. His legs are huge blocks. But I feel like the aesthetics are just too different. What works for Magnus might not work for Megs. I’m also disappointed to see how little articulation Megatron has, and some of those clearance issues. That’s a real bummer.

I was immensely impressed with his shotgun! Until we saw the reverse side. I just don’t get going all out to make a finely painted, highly detailed sculpt, but for only one side of an object. Igor is awesome though.

If someone like DNA comes out with a real good upgrade that fixes some of the issues, then I’ll probably pick him and the upgrade up at some point, but as of right now, I feel no rush to get him.

After seeing both video reviews of Leader DOTM Megatron and ROTF Jetfire, I still haven't changed my mind over Megatron. Sure the engineering is fantastic, but those HUGE boots just ruin with scrawny legs just ruin the whole figure for me.

However, I did change my mind over Jetfire. This is a pure MASTERPIECE who blow the previous ROTF version out of the water with a friggin' NUKE. This will certainly be a buy for me.

Yeah, considering he's a 'second round' on this figure, instead of a 'sixth round' like starscream, they got him surprisingly well done :APPLAUSE:

Amazing what can be done when the stupid AA battery box is no longer a factor.

Megatron on the other hand is a total disappointment.

Like, here's the DOTM Voyager:

Yeah, the chest isn't quite as good and the cloak is restrictive because of being made of plastic rather than cloth. But his limbs are much better. More consistently proportioned and nowhere near as excessively chunky. And this is a Voyager figure. A Leader-class toy cf him could have and should have more refined and complicated engineering to pull off the design even better.

But no.

I'm impressed with how they utilized every part of the plane mode into the robot mode. I love the original leader class figure, but he had too much back kibble. My only complaint with SS Jetfire is that his head and face are way too big. If it was proper sized, it wouldn't be an eyesore in jet mode. Otherwise, great figure, I'm probably going to pick it up.

I agree about Megatron. Aesthetically, the Voyager figure is better. If they simply increased the dimensions of that figure into leader size, it would have been perfectly fine. I wouldn't have been mad.

With the Apartment properly cleaned and re-organized, I ended up with 2 shelves showing off the Movie 1+2 toys of the cast beside the DotM and on cast (minus Dinobots, Knights, and the Ultimate Optimus and the Leader Jetfire/Optimus RotF combination), because the DotM on works pretty dang good scale wise. I'm looking forward to adding WWII Bee, Sideswipe, and the new Jet Optimus to my shelves. They're gonna look pretty good with the rest of the cast.

Also wanted to show this off to see how the scale has changed over the years, and that's ok, cause I have a large scale Movie 1 cast with a nice smaller modern scale

EDIT: There are 2 more layers of shelves with Cogman, Nemesis Prime, and a few more in front of books.

Alright, sorry to double post like this, but could not cope with only showing off 2 movie Autobot shelves.

Also taking these pictures shows off what we really need from Studio Series to fill out the ranks from the movies.

Notably missing for me Autobot wise is a Deluxe Leadfoot and Dino, as well as some good Arcee triplets, a Voyager Slug, mini figures of Brains and Wheelie coming with another figure, and kinda a want but not need would be WWII Hot Rod. Decepticon wise, the new updated Devastator coming will be a hugely welcomed addition, as will the Bonecrusher and Shatter figures; missing still but welcome would be a TLK Leader Infernocus, good voyager Sentinel Prime (I just traded mine, wasn't good and I do despise that character for his role in the movie, but still), and some toys of the Con crew from TLK like Onslaught (from Long Haul) and Mohawk.

Nice shots! And speaking of the Arcee sisters, how do you think they should be packaged and sold? 3 deluxes in one package for maybe leader price? Or individually? Weren't they supposedly able to combine?

I see you're also a big Cussler fan. :-) ;)^

Considering their size and if they would go with the concept stage ability to combine, I feel maybe a Voyager pricepoint with the 3 sisters would probably suffice. the ability to combine would be awesome but is not essential to me.

And hell yeah Cussler!

Transformers Studio Series 37 Constructicon Rampage Video Review

PostPosted: Mon Jan 14, 2019 3:15 pm
by Wolfman Jake
Thanks to Seibertron.com member Grimyeal, we've been tipped off to yet another early look at an upcoming Transformers Studio Series figure from YouTube channel TonTon Review! TonTon gives us a good look at SS-37 Constructicon Rampage, the first Voyager Class member of Devastator to be released in 2019! Rampage will be made available at retail, along with seven other movie series Constructicons, over the course of the next two years (2019-2020). These eight figures will combine to form the mighty Devastator as featured in the 2009 Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen film. Of note, this Rampage is decorated in red, like in his battle with Bumblebee in Egypt, instead of yellow, as he appearance when combined with his compatriots as Devastator's right leg in the movie.

TonTon shows off the conversion of Rampage from bulldozer to unipedal robot and back, as well as how to transform Rampage into Devastator's right leg. Rampage comes with a four-point black plastic stand to help him stay upright in robot mode. TonTon also provides size comparisons to various other figures in the Studio Series and other Transformers lines in both vehicle and robot modes. The review is narrated in English via computer voice. Take a look for yourself below!

Are you excited for Constructicon Rampage and the other seven members of Devastator? Can you wait two years to complete an entire combiner team? Tell us in the comments below, and keep tuned to Seibertron.com for the latest news on all things Transformers!

I agree, spreading them out like this makes the prospect of completing the set less daunting & not quite as stressful on the wallet.

Not only is the 2 year roll out of the SS constructicons a bit easier on the wallet than taking a $250+ hit all at once, but this also is probably the furthest into the future that Hasbro has let us fans into on their plans for a line.
