Thanks to fellow Seibertron users, Nemesis Primal, EvasionModeBumblebee, What's Crackin'? and Dan, we have learned that YouTuber TonTon Reviews has uploaded a new video review of forthcoming Transformers Studio Series Leader Class figure #35 Revenge of the Fallen Jetfire!

One thing to note is that TonTon does not show off the combined form of Voyager 2007 Movie Optimus Prime and Jetfire and it appears as though that will get a video of its own.

We have embedded the video below for your convenience:

What do you think of Jetfire? Will you be adding him to your collection? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews.

I was bummed when it dawned on me that TonTon wasn't doing the Jetwing Optimus combination... :(

I like the new Prime, though the big chunks on the back of his arms and the kibble on the inside of his legs aren't great. It could almost pass for an IDW design. Those elbows are really messing with my brain since they bend on the what looks like the wrong axis. I sure hope he's a good figure because I really like the looks of him.

Honestly, that new Studio Series Prime is a nope in a not good direction.

I have not liked the Cybertronian aesthetic since it was revealed, they should have smoothed it out some and made it a separate thing. The difference is too jarring compared to the movie look I have come to love.

Carn is right, the "G1" influence crept into the movie. While it may be a short bit, it still sucks to see them abandon the previous looks, especially since we have gotten many looks at Transformers without Earth modes. And it's now across the board: toys, comics, TV, and now starting to creep into the movie. Let the unique things stay unique. That would be like Prime or Cybertron suddenly shifting into G1 mode, it doesn't look right.

AS was said elsewhere, you can't miss G1 if it won't stop coming back and now taking over the entire industry.

and the G1 look is not good for many of these guys. It's the wrong type of greeble on the characters, and for some reason, a lot of the Cybertron guys have very large thighs and skinny arms and lower legs, it's not a good look. And this figure sadly seems to capture that look.

I really really really wish they would have made the Cybertron aesthetic something else and new instead of in this live action universe. They nailed Dropkick, Shatter, and Blitzwing, why couldn't you have stuck with that?

on a separate note, Jetfire looks good, I can't wait to see the combination with Prime!

Nope, not really feeling that new Voyager Prime. I get what they're going for with the shift to the more familiar, but that does result in backlash from those who were used to the original esthetic. The shift does apparetly work in a sense as the movie is a hit with the critics for once it seems, so yeah...

I keep hearing people asking what #31 is in the line, the only one that hasn't been ID'ed yet. Well, there are two contenders that have had listings and product ID's confirmed: Autobot Dino and Autobot Drift.

Earlier today, we put up two news articles on the instruction manual and robot mode image of new Studio Series 38 Voyager Class Optimus Prime, from the Bumblebee film. Following that, we have a leaked image of the back of the box of the said toy, thanks to 本-阿弗莱克- on baidu.

It shows us our first look on his alternate mode which, shock of shocks, is very inspired by the truck in the G1 cartoon. Of course, we also get to see the stock render for his robot mode, and his 35 step conversion. We also find out the figure comes with the "San Francisco Bridge" backdrop.

So does this make you more or less excited for the figure? Tell us in the Pub forums down below!

It's an obnoxious half-assed continuity-clashing move that puts Travis Knight in the same category of fan embodied by Shadow from the Insecticomics (albeit not that extreme).

Also, the professional movie critics are worthless brain-dead morons when it comes to Transformers. I haven't seen the movie myself, but I have no faith in their judgement after stupidity regarding the first movie.

First, I agree with everything you just said, my young friend. I'm an OG geewunner, but yeah, it's starting to get a tad drawn out.

Nope. This figure isn't for me. The figure itself is fine I guess for what it's trying for, but personally I'd rather we get more of the Constructicons sooner rather than another Prime, but G1-Flavored. Oh well, it's nice for the G1 fans that want him and he's not stealing a spot from any characters I'm dying for. I guess we know what that "Autobot Hero" listing was about now?

Yeah, I am surprised by the amount of people speaking their displeasure. When the trailer came out, everyon was raving about the G1-like designs. With memes of Take My Money or whenever Hasbro would release those in toy form. And now we see we dont have to wait long at all, and yet there is none of that excitement present.

I am really impressed at how I see no extraneous kibble in that bot mode for so many new parts found in truck mode (unless the answer is he has a big ass backpack like MP44). That alone is the reason I want it.

I am confused about what alt mode detail his arms have, or if its just fake alt mode kibble.

I think the "Cybertronian" designs from the Bumblebee movie are erroneous trash that have no place in the movieverse and should not have been dignified with toys.

I'm still sticking to my Siege Optimus retool theory. From this picture it looks like he has the same truck roof/backpack as the Siege toy and the legs also look very similarly built from the inside angle. I'm really excited for this guy, looks like he'll be a lot of fun! I do feel a little regret buying the Takara Leader Evasion Prime (that I can't remember the actual name of right now, gah!) but at least he's all chromed up and a different size class. I'm gonna be getting this new Optimus right on release, I think.

Jesus H. Mary and Joseph Born in a Manger Read the Bible Christ, we just got a Leader Class PotP Optimus Prime that is Geewun, a Voyager CW Optimus Prime that was Geewun, a Voyager Class WFC: Siege Optimus that is HELLA Geewun, a probable new Leader Class Optimus that may or may not have a Geewun Trailer but is definitely Geewun even if it has a Galaxy Force chest, and now we’re getting a GEEWUN VOYAGER OPTIMUS PRIME! GOD’s sake, John Warden has his head shoved so far up GEEWUN OPTIMUS PRIME’S TAILPIPE. Goddamn.

dont be offended when I say that i don't care about optimus prime
lets be honest optimus prime and bumblebee are the two main faces of the transformers franchise so naturally there are way too many versions of them. each one continues to surprise me in both ways, and maybe impress me sometimes but im tired of them. i want more on the others. they deserve better. Life dropkick and shatter, I would have one version of a good dropkick and shatter rather than a thousand bumblebees and optimus

i just want a really good blitzwing from the bumblebee movie or a decent triple changer for either dropkick or shatter

Someone on another board brought up a time back in 1997 when we got Machine Wars Optimus Prime with his rather nontraditional look for an Optimus Prime (unique deco, no mouthplate, etc.) and people back then were all going "When are we gonna get a new Optimus Prime toy?!!"

Good times.

I mean, I get it, Optimus Prime is the face of the brand, but jeezopeets. We’re going to have 3 different Optimus Prime toys on the shelves at the same time, based on the same Geewun design,2 of which are the same size, and the other of which includes an Optimus Prime that is the same damn size, but with accessories. hausjam wrote:Everyone who likes to call the transformers movies garbage films; you are garbage jerks. It's one thing to say you don't like a film. Even that you hated it. That's cool. No problem. But to call a movie garbage, a movie that many, many people thought was okay (even if they didn't love it) and that many, many people worked very hard to create, is to be a world class scumbag. You are saying we like garbage. And that's just an arrogant, horrible, sanctimonious thing to say. You are presuming you know what's best for everyone. You do not. And you never, ever will.

But since we are doing that, fine. This Optimus Prime, as designed for Bumblebee; is just a garbage design. It's a very hastily modeled Frankenstein. It takes the G1 incarnation, which was originally drawn in a simplified form (for obvious reasons) and adds a lot of exaggerated details that are out of place, and logistically ridiculous. (Truck windows on a Cybertronian was fine on a cartoon made for 8 year olds.) If you are a fan of this design, then you are a simpleton who has no sense of aesthetics and is easily placated by nostalgic nonsense.

And as for the toy, it looks every bit as cheap and clunky as its wave-mates. Will it feel as cheap? I don't know. But I am not Optimistic. If Hasbro wants to keep marketing overpriced kids toys to collectors, they should be eternally grateful to those of you who are indeed placated by nostalgic nonsense.

Wow, the irony is amazing here.

Bayformers = not fair to say garbage
Transformers original inspired Optimus Prime for a live action movie toy = garbage

.... but then I read the other part, so no irony here, sorry bad internet trigger habbit.

People say the Bayformers are garbage, most of them are just making their whole review summed up in 1 word. The Transformers movies are objectively bad.

Anyway Ontopic!

He looks cool! Agree he looks like some heavy retool of Siege Optimus (love that guy).
I really think Mr. Knight did a lot of doing things his way and how he wants his movie to be. (if you've seen the Bumblebee movie, you know what I'm talking about)
And it looks like Hasbro wasn't prepared for that, otherwhise why would we have Bayformer Optimus in the toyshelves now in the Bumblebee line? Not even Space Knight Optimus, just regular Movie 1 Optimus with his Nitro thing.

Love it man, hope they make everybody from Cybertron! (Still can't believe how awesome the movie is)

Fuck, these last couple of days on Facebook and everywhere else Transformery I am on have been a nightmare of complaining 40-year-olds. OPTIONS! OPTIONS ARE GOOD! Shit, I can't believe the childish ways of the majority of this fandom. Maybe you guys need a couple dozen Optimuses released to get your mind off toys for a second and learn how life works.

People, put your feet in the shoes of Hasbro. YEARS we complained about not enough G1. Then they released G1 Prime in CW. "Not good enough. Too chunky."

Then Titans Return voyager and leader. "Not G1 enough. Gimmick too obtrusive. Colors suck. Plane mode sucks."

Then PotP. "Too big for most CHUG. Need a G1 voyager."

Siege brings a G1 voyager. "Good robot, weird alt mode."

They decide to reissue G1 vintage Optimus. "No trailer. Eh. I don't care."

Then because people liked the Cybertron design for Siege Magnus and thought it would make a good voyager Optimus, they figured a Cybertron Optimus homage was in order. "Who would like this? Not me, therefore nobody. Nope."

Then they release this FUCKING EPIC G1 movie design for Optimus. "TOO MANY OPTIMUS PRIMES! Ya all are RUINING THE FRANCHISE!" Get your HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES and realize if you don't like thing, DON'T FUCKING BUY THING! Fuck I need a break from fucking internet people..

Edit: Also take note how insulting you are as a fandom to those designers who you basically treat like slaves. If their hard work doesn't satisfy you, you insult them. If they work more to try and make something better or just REISSUE THE ORIGINAL essencially as a GIFT to the fandom as a bonus and unrelated to the main lines thing, you call them a bunch of G1 cock suckers. I love the brand, but am ASHAMED ofthis fandom.

I'm still not seeing the siege retool, they may share a transformation scheme but that doesn't mean retool, otherwise does that mean G2 Smokejumper was retooled into Energon Starscream?

Now, I said it in the siege thread that Warden was G1 obsessed, but I assumed he was just in charge of the generations line, and that Studio Series was worked on by other people.

Errrr (Bee movie spoilers) That was literally the ending of the film after he departs from Charlie Bee drives up to Optimus who is in truck mode on the bridge with that very same truck mode, if this had nothing to do with the film they would of used the Cybertron battle as the backdrop.

They were certainly needed after the absolute disaster of The Last Knight, that movie and the sub-par sales of their toy line damaged the whole franchise and we needed a major reboot to the franchise.

Why do you think the Aligned continuity is finished? Or why the IDW comics are getting rebooted besides the comics own problems? Or why this film is looking like it's going to be a reboot with a whole new look and direction?

I am a major Bayformers guy and will always think the films get a little too much flak (But do deserve most of the criticisms they get) but they should have stopped with DOTM and AOE and TLK should have never existed, AOE Crosshairs is in my top 5 Autobots and Nitro Zeus is my favorite Decepticon in the whole franchise and there is plenty about the later sequels I liked but I still think we would have been better off without the sequels.

And you know what? Besides it not bringing that much new things to the franchise as for lore and such the Bumblebee film is a much better produced film then the Bay films ever could be with the possibly exception of the first film and maybe a big chunk of DOTM depending on what your looking for and even then I think 95 percent of the film is well crafted as opposed to the 70-60 percent that 1 and 3 were.

I find it funny people keep on whining about all the "G1 reboots" despite the fact that there hasn't even been a proper "reboot" since the original G1 era, the closest things that come close to that is Cyberverse, Animated and the IDW comics and the only things they really share with G1 is the designs of the robots.

We have had about 10 non stop years of the Bay films and their aesthetic across other parts of the franchise which is much longer and much more then G1 had back in the day.

It's time for the franchise to move on and get the audience back but it can't do that unless they start with things familiar and beloved which so happens to be G1 inspired things.

Also wow how very selfish and more importantly disrespectful of you, what makes you the judge for what should or what should not be part of the movies or what should be made into toys, what about the people who do want those things?

ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:In this case it's a double-whammy of John Warden AND Travis Knight.

I'll say that while Bay is a great guy and he does have passion for the first 3 or so movies (Don't convince me there was any passion or major effort for AOE or TLK) Travis has this love for the franchise and the original source material that Bay never quite had, and this film had a lot of love and effort put into it and it shows.

That's the reason it's doing so good with critics, that's the reason most people praise this film unlike the Bay films, so dissing Knight like that is a major insult.

Look it's fine to not like the toy or the movie or the G1 direction the franchise is going but insulting these things straight up and saying "They shouldn't exist" is just wrong.

I guess that's more what I meant, forgot there were slightly different definitions. Looks like he at least has the same roof/bumper backpack that transforms between his chest windows, but the arm panels do look like different panels. Either way I'm seeing potential shared engineering.

Sub par sales? I thought that the tlk toyline had actually performed better than the movie itself, which coupled with the success of titans return made 2017 a double whammy as far as toys were concerned. Tlk was the death knell for the bay verse but it had no effect on the rest of the franchise. In fact I'd say the loss of Toys r us in the States had a bigger effect then the last knight.

Also you do realise that Beast Wars was more or less a reboot (then added to G1 to represent a potential future depending on which storyline you looked at) then the Unicron Trilogy was a reboot... Then Animated, and then Alligned which was longer running. Though when I think about it, given the nature of G1 storyline, and folding in bw and bm...G1 lasted fifteen years and was kept alive after with convention exclusives adding to stories and all the reissues...G1 has always been there, just lurking out of sight.

Anyway, new direction is helpful and it does look like all of this is a bid by hasbro to refocus everything. I do have a solution though if people thought Mr Knight was too G1 focused...They have to get a beast wars focused director for the next one ;)

@Deadput:
1. I agree that AoE sucked (for a lot of reasons.. Optimus shooting Attinger and the Dinobots wiping the floor with the KSI drones were the only really good parts), but TLK? Not so much. TLK after all ACTUALLY FOLLOWED UP ON THE QUESTION OF CYBERTRON'S FATE THAT DARK OF THE MOON LEFT HANGING.

2. Travis Knight is pissing all over the movieverse's established design conventions and backstory by shoving GEEWUNnery in where it. Has. No. Place. I love G1, but it is not the be-all end-all of everything good about Transformers and people should stop treating it like that. He is acting with total disrespect to the universe and source material he's been handed the reins of. The movieverse needs some fixing, but throwing out its established conventions and takes on the lore to shoehorn in drooling G1 worship isn't fixing. That's just making an exponentially bigger mess of an already thorny continuity. I wouldn't call that putting love into it. Effort, maybe, but effort by itself doesn't mean jack sh*t. Putting effort into something doesn't stop it from being bad or disrespectful. I'm angry because a Transformers universe I'm invested in is in new hands that don't really seem to care for it and are in new hands that seem to be uncaringly mangling it. So I'll insult Travis Knight all I smegging like.

3. What people mean by "G1 reboots" is reboots that are based on the aesthetics and characterizations of G1 and generally with new alt-universe versions of the G1 characters

4. The reason it's doing well with critics isn't because of Knight's effort, it's just because his name isn't marked by critics for an automatic distortedly jaundiced viewing.

5. If they wanted a new story they should have MADE A NEW SMEGGING STORY instead of hijacking and warping an established one.

SillyMcGilly, people's beef here is a non-G1 franchise getting G1-ness shoehorned awkwardly into it.

This is so clearly a reboot of some sort especially with the way the film ends that what your saying about "trashing" the backstory doesn't matter since their clearly going a new direction and NEVER going back to the previous movies.

If they do then this franchise is lost and Paramount/Hasbro truly are the biggest fools.

I find it funny that you think Knight cares any less for the films continuity then Bay did, each sequel trashed the backstory of the previous.

The other movies don't have a true backstory, all they have is poorly thought out writing that doesn't mesh together with the other movies.

The Bay films and their continuity is dead, TLK killed it and were never going back to it the same way ever again.

Even the biggest hack of the movie franchise's production team (Won't say names but I think people know which producer I'm talking about) has said albeit with some "trouble" that the films are going in a new direction (Even in the same interview where he says he doesn't even know what "reboot" means despite later in said interview talking about the film's future with the same description that a reboot is)

Quote itself: “Reboot, I always hate that word because for one, I’m not sure I really understand what it means,” *Edited censored* said. “We are going to do another big Transformers movie. It is going to be different than the ones that we’ve done before.”

Also seems you don't understand movie critics, this movie wouldn't be doing so god damn well otherwise.

Whether you are a G1 fan, a movie fan, or a casual fan, you should get the concept of consumer demand. Do you want the franchise to die just so you can have your baby asses' little way?

You must understand and welcome change, or else you will be a miserable person for the rest of your life. Especially in a franchise about change and becoming something better. You may haaaaate G1 with a passion, but the ratings prove this formula works (unlike Bay's), so you should be happy your favorite brand isn't on the verge of death.

When Bay released the first Transformers movie, we were desperate. We were just happy to see the brand finally coming into the cinematic spotlight. But once again, after over a DECADE, the franchise became desperate. And by God, it is once again saved. So I wanna hear no whining after a DECADE of your flopping movies (although I did enjoy DotM) and having to put up with us being the butt of every sci fi movie joke.

Transformers can finally be esteemed for its movies, and may even become a more popular brand as a whole because someone like Travis Kight wasn't afraid of putting this vision onto the big screen, despite how negatively Bay spoke about it. Let's all be thankful for the immense positives, not strain at the ant of nostalgia for Bay.
