New Hasbro Transformers 2018 Fan Vote

According to the official Facebook page for the Transformers brand, we will be seeing a new fan vote in the year 2018, as has been the case for the past four already!

The short clip tells us absolutely nothing other than a vote is coming, but does point out the various winners of previous editions, such as the Generations Combiner Wars Victorion / Rust Renegades team for 2015, the cityformer Titan class Trypticon for Titans Return in 2016, the upcoming Optimus Primal in Power of the Primes, which will be leader class and feature the evolution gimmick and a Optimal Optimus mode, for 2017 (ish, cut them some slack). Check out the teaser clip below, and speculate away in the Energon Pub!

Guessing here, but given the fanvote history, it's either for a second Titan class (like Trypticon) or another Leader class.

*edit: Another fresh combiner team doesn't seem as likely compared to the other two. Guess they could make it one of the other teams who don't have an update yet if they really want it to be a combiner.

I hope that whatever it is (leader, combiner, etc) that it's a new character instead of pre-existing ones.

Exactly this. The problem with the fan votes that got us Trypticon and Optimus Primal is that we know right away not to expect the names that lost for a few years after. Thanks to Predaking a possible Omega Supreme or Scorponok have been pushed back by another year, and Warden told us the losers of the previous poll wont be in Power of the Primes so there goes out chances at an Evolving Megatron or Star Saber in PotP.

Better to do another Fan Built Bot, maybe a new Voyager Triplechanger or something since we've already covered all of the other size classes (Deluxe, Leader, combiner box set, and Titan) except Legends with these polls.

I have two ideas for what the vote might be, one is ridiculous and one seems more plausible, but they're both based on the same premise. With everything they've done with Prime Wars, they're running out of recognizable G1 characters to make new toys out of. The only combiners that are really left are the Seacons, and it wouldn't surprise me if they get announced this weekend as one of the late wave of Power of the Primes. Other than the Micromaster squads there's not a whole lot else they can do. And it would be difficult to make $45 leader class toys with the Micromasters.

So, over the next couple of years they're going to need to start moving away from G1. So idea one, the ridiculous one, maybe the vote will be what the next theme will be. Either Beast Wars or Machine Wars or Beast Machines. But Beast Machines has a lot of baggage associated with it, and no one gives a **** about Machine Wars.

So idea two, maybe the vote will be which next Beast Wars toy or toys will be. Maybe, since we're getting a Primal, we'll get to pick which version of Megatron comes out. T-rex, transmetal T-rex, or dragon.

From the coverage of the Hasbro Brand Entertainment panel, which you can read again here, we have the details on the next fan-vote poll that will lead to not one but two, separately sold figures - each with their backstory and reason for inclusion together - for the new War for Cybertron toyline (that will follow the end of Power of the Primes and Prime Wars Trilogy).

The voting runs on official Transformers social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram from Tuesday February 20th to Friday February 23rd, using the hashtags provided below.

UPDATE: Today is the Final Day to vote!

  • Needlenose and Tracks - #NeedlenosevsTracks (brother vs brother)
  • Spinister and Wheeljack - #SpinistervsWheeljack (Saboteur vs Scientist)
  • Impactor and Mirage - #ImpactorvsMirage (Greater Good vs Greater Profit)

You vote for the pairing, but each of the winning figures will be available separately at retail. We will bring you more information as it becomes available!

So the Hasbro panel revealed the details, but how exactly do we vote? Are they going to create discussions on Facebook/Twitter and we hashtag there or do we create our own posts on Facebook/Twitter and make our hashtag votes that way?

They'll probably be as comments to a Facebook/IG post! We'll know once the official details come out after the Fair, I expect.

So it's either an obscure decepticon and an autobot who already has a good classics toy, another obscure decepticon and an autobot who already has a good classics toy, or Impactor and an autobot who already has a good classics toy. I wonder who will win. (Sarcasm)

Hasbro... :HEADHURTS:

Why would you make us choose between a brand new Needlenose and Spinister after giving us a decent Quake? How stupid can you be? We need BOTH of those guys!

I guess it doesn't matter, Impactor has this in the bag, which I guess means someone at Hasbro REALLY wants a new Mirage figure.

“War for Cybertron, eh?” Okay, I’m calling it now- IDW is rebooting Transformers and they’re going back to war, yay! And I’m calling it as Autobots vs Decepticons, not Autobots and Decepticons vs someone else. Although I am hoping for a full line of Quintessons. I’m also guessing that Mirage will be a war profiteer a la Tony Stark.

by Va'al
As pre-announced over the weekend, the official Hasbro Transformers social media platforms have opened the voting for the 2018 Fan-vote Poll!

The voting runs on official Transformers social media platforms Facebook and Instagram from Tuesday February 20th to Friday February 23rd, using the hashtags provided below as a comment to the Facebook post. More info can be found on the official War for Cybertron page on Pulse.

  • Needlenose and Tracks - #NeedlenosevsTracks (brother vs brother)
  • Spinister and Wheeljack - #SpinistervsWheeljack (Saboteur vs Scientist)
  • Impactor and Mirage - #ImpactorvsMirage (Greater Good vs Greater Profit)

Check out the clip below, and choose your pairing!

War for Cybertron is an up-close, gritty, three-part look at the battle for the fate of Cybertron. These are beloved and familiar events from Transformers lore told through the eyes of the heroes and villains in a story of conflict and consequence, where in order to gain what you want, you must be willing to lose everything you have.

For the first time fans can vote on a pair of characters who will become part of the Generations lineup as Deluxe Class figures. Choose wisely…these rivals will have to share the same shelf…even though they may not like it!

Vote via hashtag for the rivalry you want to see as Deluxe Class figures. The vote ends Friday! To explore these War for Cybertron rivalries, click here: https://go.hasb.ro/2odhDPI

CHOOSE YOUR RIVALS

SPINISTER vs. WHEELJACK
Saboteur vs. Scientist
It’s saboteur vs. scientist as Spinister and Wheeljack lock circuits in a battle of wits. Who will come out ahead as they play a high-stakes game of cat and mouse.

Image

NEEDLENOSE vs. TRACKS
Brother vs. Brother
Brother is pitted against brother as these two family members choose to fight on opposite sides of the war. When their loyalties are tested by the trails of combat, which bond will hold stronger: family or faction?

Image

IMPACTOR vs. MIRAGE
Mirage vs. the Mercenary
The Wreckers, led by Impactor, are a highly skilled team of mercenaries who are at their best when the odds of survival are at their worst. They're exactly the kind of soldiers the Autobots need on their side. Can Mirage persuade them to join the Autobot cause?

I've gotta go Needlenose vs Tracks. John Barber made it too good.

With that story in mind, at least they didn't go full heel with a Soundwave vs Horri-Bull option

They've both had shady pasts in IDW at least, so they may be playing with the one being a darker or lighter shade of grey than the other! :-?

Well, Impactor is leader of a group that specializes in doing nasty jobs other teams don't want to do. He practically lives for war and often can sympathize with commom bots. Mirage is the direct opposite. Before the war, he was a rich socialite who eschewed from commoners. He detested the incivility of war and is against the violent actions his Autobot comrades have to take. He would prefer that the two factions just sit down and make peace. Its not hard to see how they'd be opposed to each other.

So, at first glance, these two seem random picks. And they might be, but I'd like to think someone at Hasbro did their homework. ;)^

I'd like to use the Lego Ninjago lore as an example. One character, Ronin, does do good but only if I benefits him while another, Wu, does so simply to help others. Two good guys that don't see eye to eye with one being motivated by profit and the other just plain goodness is a dynamic that cam work. Just depends on how it's presented that determines if it is done well or not.
