If it were business as usual then Hasbro wouldn't be laying off 10% of their work force (estimated between 500 and 600 employees) as a direct result of TRU closing in the US right before their busiest time of the year.

I looked for a source for that, and found it, but saw that it is just speculation. Both that number 10% and the cause are not confirmed. The only thing confirmed to be in direct relation to TRU closing affecting Hasbro is the current lawsuit.

The numbers aren't known yet, but really the fact that any kind of layoffs are happening is troubling and it's hard to believe that it's just a coincidence that they came at the same time TRU closed. I'm sure it was a cumulative issue compounded by poor Star Wars sales and the Bumblebee movie being pushed back altering their sales projections. Whatever the case, Hasbro lost around $200M in revenue and sales dropped 12%, you don't recover from that by doing business as usual and it's going to take time. This isn't the best time to release big ticket items with a poor track record of selling out. Maybe that's why we're getting what's likely our second small Titan in a row with Omega Supreme.

In the IDW comics he had both hands removed and replaced with claws by the Institute. When Megatron offered him replacement hands he chose to only replace one and making the other into a gun to fight for Megatron. I guess you could look at the three guns as a symbol of his loyalty seen in the G1 cartoon.

As for Shockwave's pod being used to replace Omega's head, I think it's too big, the tank turret isn't that big.

Image

As for other possible Voyagers I wouldn't have minded an IDW style Whirl since we're getting so many Wreckers it seems. Grapple and Inferno would be nice to see properly updated, the Universe mold was good, but too big now and I think Hasbro can do better. Since we have a new Voyager Soundwave I now want Blaster to be revisited, but as his own mold. They could have also done any number of Micromaster bases, though I'm pretty sure we were told they wouldn't be happening (aside from Omega). There's also a bunch of Autobot Action Masters that (would have) had Cybertronian alt modes and could have been imagined as Voyagers like Rollout, Maineframe (possibly a Soundwave retool), Skyfall (Starscream retool? Really just needs new head and chest), Over-Run, Sprocket, Powerflash, and I suppose Windmill. Or they could, you know, make an original character for a change.

I always forget about the action masters, it would be nice to see some of them again. Also you mention Blaster, now I think he'd be a good candidate for the line after Siege and doing the same kind of deal as soundwave with his minions being released at the micromaster price point. Question is, if we remove him from being a retool of sw, would his alt just be his titan returns alt just shrunk?

Between TRU closing, Hasbro being forced to release a bunch of employees, Leader class shrinking, and a lot of Walmarts not even carrying Leaders I'm not sure if we'll see another Titan after Scorponok assuming we get him at all. Hasbro seems to be having increasing trouble getting large Transformers into US retail and they aren't worth the risks.

Emerje

if thats the case, once again we get shorted on the figures we should get like how we got shorted with POTP we got shorted with TITANS Return in a way we should have had other figures other than roadburn, rereleases of cosmos and shrapnel and now we will get shorted Scorponok in all his headmaster glory
because they decide they dont want to risk it? lets just hope that titan Omega Supreme does well enough that they will consider giving Scorponok a chance, i just had to rant there but i really like everything i see so far with WAR FOR CYBERTRON i certainly hope they surprise us with some awesome ****! ;)^

Great Idea

lol cartoon wise Frenzy didn't show up until episode 14 and buzzsaw had to wait until season 2.

I'm still disappointed the Targetmasters are severely downgraded compared to the LG versions. And I just don't like that Seeker mold- I've never been a huge fan of the Tetrajet (the concept is cool, and I like Tetrajet inspired jets like the WW, WFC and Cybertron designs, I just find the actual cartoon design a bit silly) and between the kibble in both modes and the excessive amount of greebling, I dunno. He's a pass.

Everything else though? I want it. The Leaders especially- I like how they're using the pricepoint to give us Voyagers with loads of extra fun stuff rather than just making them overly huge. I don't mind Leader sized bots (I still want a TR Blaster some day) but I generally prefer smaller figures. Not to mention the actual execution is amazing; an Ultra Magnus that does the power armour thing is long overdue, and I love Shockwave's "super mode". It reminds me a bit of the Neue Ziel with the extra arms and massive shoulders. I would have liked it if the "super vehicle" had been a four-legged spider tank ala the Cyberverse version (albeit a bit better) but the battlecruiser mode is still cool.

Ironhide's height.

Nightbeat head on...

We have a dead-on image of one of his hand holes, widthwise.

IronhideHeight.png

If we assume that the hole is 5mm wide, then we can work out his total height.

28 X 5mm = 140mm

= 14cm

Which puts him as pretty much the same height as Topspin, and interestingly, exactly the same height as Classics Ironhide/Ratchet.

Yikes! Who let this Cyber Battalion figure in here? No wonder Ratchet is a Walgreens exclusive, he'll feel right at home with all the other hollow figures. I thought we were supposed to get better built figures in Siege after they dropped the gimmicks?

I'll still get him, but what a disappointment.

My mom had three obese cats. One was so fat her belly fur had rubbed off late in life from scraping to the floor.

Anyway: Siege Prime looks so damn good but now I'm curious about the Leader one and what it has, namely because I don't want a collection entirely filled with Optimuses. Optimii. Optimeeses? W-whats the plural to 'Optimus'? :-?

Since it's a proper noun (that's what you grammatically call names, right?), it's "Optimuses". Otherwise it would be "optimi". Note the use of upper- vs. lower-case :-B

Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege Prototype Images for Ironhide and Starscream, Takara Stock

Thanks to a heads up from Seibertronian Cyberpath, we have word that Snakas Blog has posted several new images, including prototype images of Ironhide and Starscream, as well as Takara's stock images for Sixgun, Aimless, and the Soundwave Spy Patrol.

These prototype images give us a great look at the massive amount of detail the new Siege figures have. The painted figure's details don't pop as much as the prototypes, but that detailing is still there, and looks pretty good.

We also get some nice stock images for the upcoming weaponizer Sixgun, one of Metroplex's little companions, Ravage and Laserbeak, who make up Soundwave's Spy Patrol, and battlemaster Aimless.

These figure are all due out next year, with the Ironhide mold also being used for Ratchet and Starscream being used for Thundercracker, and maybe more if we get more exclusives.

Check out the images below, and let us know what you think of these new pictures below!

Not to be a debbie downer but that Six Gun looks terrible in that deco. Its just a sea of white and red and the only weathering is on the feet. He looks ultra cheap.

It's the lighting and stastic pose. It make everything look bland and 'washed out'.
