Transformers Buzzworthy Bumblebee Discussion

The new Buzzworthy Bumblebee and Spike two pack was found at Target recently and in hand images are coming out now. What is fascinating about this brand new mold is that the alt mode is spot on with the G1 yellow Cliffjumper toy that was retooled without a spoiler, a toy we now call Bumper or Bumble Jumper. You can see the images below. We also see images showing that the "wings" can be either really pushed back so as not to mess with the silhouette as much or even completely removed.

The images come to us from SegaGenesis and twichy who posted on the TFW boards.

- I got it for 14.99 at target in la puente CA. Its decent. The tabs and plastic feel like they may break off easily. It rolls really well. It has G1 head, of it had cyberverse head, I would have passed.

- The exo suit sucks for not having wheels. That butt flap isn't really a transformation. The grey head dome is blah. Has no leg articulation. Head masters have more articulation than this. You can see the thighs have molded on pin holes for the cancelled leg articulation. They didn't even bother to eliminate that from the CAD before opening the molds.

- The wings can be detacted by pushing them (photo shows this below)

- Gun handle is 3mm.

So Spike doesn't convert into anything?

He does, into the vehicle mode Exo-Suit as featured in the '86 movie. Just flip down the backpack, lay him flat, then make yourself a sandwich. Nothing more. I know, not much of one...

Bumblejumper aka Bumper was the last character I expected Hasbro to base anything on, so I was quite surprised.

If you're getting technical, the yellow Cliffjumper without a spoiler in G1 is Hubcap. Bumper is a different mold than Cliff or Bee, he was just found on Cliffjumper cards. Cliffjumper is a Porsche 924 or 928 (I forget the specific model), and Bumper is a Mazda Familia.

Thanks, I edited the published article.

Kind of want one, the face-sculpt is nice. Is this an exclusive? It's not on BBTS or Amazon.

I know it sucks, but I want two of the exosuit. I have the old ImpossibleToys ones, but I think this one may be more in scale.

I don't care about the BB at all.

Not a big fan of the head sculpt, but I didn’t realize until the size comparison with the G1 minibot just how small it is. Considering the Kingdom branding, I’m guessing this is core class?

It’s kinda tempting, but if I pick up a G1 Bee I think I’d probably pay another $5 to get Netflix Bee.

That would be wise

I picked up this set last night as I toured some of the Targets on the way home from work. I already have Netflix Bumblebee, the perfect G1 "Classics" Bumblebee, but my intention is definitely to make this "Classics" Bumper. The similarities to the shape and detail of G1 Bumper's alt mode are too close not to be intentional. I'm hoping some intrepid fan makes a CAD file for a nice Bumper head to replace the Bumblebee head. I've got some friends who would be willing to print it out for me too. Add a little silver paint to the face, and voila! I guess the Spike Exosuit figure is a nice bonus, though I already have a much more in-scale version in the Headmaster that came with Takara Tomy Legends Bumblebee that actually transforms into Cerebros' head. For $15, this isn't a bad set, as long as you are willing to put a bit of work into it.

I also found the new Ghostbusters Afterlife version of Ectotron at Target. They had two, and I bought one. It's $59.99 and comes with issue 1 of the IDW Transformers and Ghostbusters crossover comic book.

Picked one up the other day. My hot take:

--This feels like it was an unused design from the not-too-distant past. Like, maybe it was going to be in Prime Wars before they wanted all the smaller figures to be able to carry a rider-sized figure?

--The fender kibble is less intrusive than the stock photos make it out to be. Transformation is pretty interesting.

--The rear car panel is a fun homage to the Microchange "penny-racer" origins of the minibots. I'm probably going to paint mine silver.

--NO ANKLE TILT ARGH ARGH RUINED ARGH just kidding

--Spike is more like a decoration than anything else.

I'll repost this here. I found the Cyberverse redecos at Target the other day. Was it known that these were coming in the Buzzworthy Bumblebee line?

New Transformers Buzzworthy Bumblebee Sightings + Video Review

We have gotten several reports of new Transformers Buzzworthy Bumblebee toys found at Target. These are rereleases of the Cyberverse spark armour figures. We have the Megatron pack which is unchanged and a Bumblebee pack where the armour is a redeco of the garbage truck armour that came with Grimlock. They are just shy of $25 a piece. For those wondering, this line is basically to have more Bumblebee product on the shelves. All previous Studio Series Bumblebee toys have sold out, so here is another chance for fans and families to get some along with other toys for different age groups. No different than another Batman line from Mattel/Spin Master really, to have more toys of a company most famous characters on the shelves.

We also have a video review from our own Chuckdawg for the core class Bumblebee figure that comes with Spike.

Transformation is relatively easy, any issues are due to the size and ball joints being ball joints, and I have to tip my hat to the weapon storage. Spike, while being simple, is a fun little addition. All in all, a great set.

I misread that spark armor garbage truck's name as "trash can."

Was there a core class bumblebee listed for kingdom? I know some people were speculating the exo-suit figure will come with an SS G1 dinobot, so maybe both parts of the set are prereleases?

Not overly interested in this line (I’ve never really understood the hype surrounding Bumblebee) but I might try to seek out that core class figure simply for the Exo-Suit Spike.

Same here for me. Anyone know if any more artistic fans have developed a 3D model CAD file for a Bumper replacement head for the "Core Class" Bumblebee of this line? The only other thing of interested to me has been the release of the RotF version of Bumblebee with the Sam Witwicky figure.

I'm really otherwise confused as to why this line even exists, unless Hasbro is just having a lot of difficulty coming up with the next Transformers kids show and feels they need some "simpler" stop-gap products on the shelves to keep up brand recognition and sales until the next iteration of kid-friendly Transformers is ready.

Actually the more I see of it, the more I get annoyed. I was thinking/hoping that with Cyberverse ending, there would be more room on the shelves for WFC and SS, since no new main line has been announced by Hasbro. It's odd because leaks, and eventually promotion, start several months in advance about most lines, and even sub-lines, but THIS seemingly came out of nowhere. It's almost like with no live action movie, and no series to promote- Hasbro was lost, and decided to clog Target shelves with this "filler" that nobody asked for. Why is it this stuff is everywhere now, but Kingdom and SS that most fans have been anticipating are scarce??

As much as I dislike Walmart, the Netflix, and TR Headmasters in Original Series style packaging is pretty creative. Target definitely got the short end of the stick on exclusive sublines this time around.

End cap at a Target in Murrieta, CA. It's on the back end/side, not in the main aisle.

So I bought and played with the Buzzworthy Bumblebee and Spike 2 pack. The Bumblebee is very, VERY good. Plus I adore the fact that he come with his small gun that can store under the vehicle. Spike is allright but we can't do much with that design.

What really shock me is the price of the set. 28$CAN plus taxes! A core figure retail for 15$CAN. So what in the actual fok? As if they charge full Core price for the tiny spike figure.

For how much does this set sell for in the USA? Is the price similar to the Canadian one, or are we Cannucks screwed over like we are for Gigawatt?

Bee retails for $15 USD, compared to $10 for a standard core class. Definitely seems like Canadians got the short end of this stick.

New Images of Transformers Buzzworthy Bumblebee Power Charge Bumblebee

Greetings Seibertronians! Thanks to TFW2005 user, Megatron Unicronus, we now know that the recently revealed listing for a power charge Bumblebee in the Target Exclusive Buzzworthy Bumblebee line, was indeed just a re-release of the Power Charge Bumblebee from the 2018 Bumblebee Movie toyline. This toys' central gimmick was the sphere in the chest of his robot mode that you could spin to activate lights and sounds. There appears to be no change from its first release.

Image

Will you be tempted to pick one of these up? Did you get one on its first visit to store shelves three years ago?

Shout out in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews.
