New Transformers Premium Finish Line Revealed

Hasbro knows what you need more of, and that's Optimus and Bumblebee. Better yet, this new line is of toys you already got. Joking aside, previously released toys in a premium finish has attracted fans for a while. There was a popular subline of the 2007 movie toys, for instance, and this was the basis of the Movie the best line from Takara which many fans liked, including myself. This is like that with a nice box to boot. The pictures below come from the In Demand Toys Facebook page. This line seems to have at least 2 sublines since both Optimus and Bumblebee are 01 of their own sublines. 01 for Generations and one 01 for Studio Series respectvely. This may be the Optimus Prime we saw in the recent Target exclusives listings for $49.99. It could also very well not be that toy at all.

You'll let us know what you think!

Easy pass for me.

However, I do wonder will Prime have dirty knees like the photos of the figure on the left, or clean knees like the photo on the box?

... I hope the windows on the left are just bad photography color adjustment and they haven't gone back to beast hunters green windshields

Bumblebee's eyes are creeping me out. Whatever they're doing there makes them look deeply recessed into his head, lol.

Hard to tell what the actual differences are since the photos are so blurry. Is OP just missing the grime and dirt from the original release (which is ironic, because it technically means he has LESS paint than the original, but they will apparently be charging more for him)?

Can't wait to see how long before Siege Megs is in this mold

Siege Megs is number 00. he has the same deco as the netflix releases except the blades of his swordgun are silver now. He comes with the effect part from the cyberverse toy except its purple now.

Bee looks nice, but it looks like the main thing they did was change the mold layout and plastic colors. There are a few "extra" paint apps, but the plastic colors seem to be the main difference. Also, the picture on the box is totally just SS-01.

But what's so premium about that Prime? All I see is a marginally different Siege Prime that doesn't match the one on the box. This had better not be that $50 Target-exclusive.

With the upcoming price increases in the line I am going to be doing some paring down of my old collecting habits with TF, and a new paint job on an Optimus whose alt mode I don't love and yet already have a couple of releases of seems a good place to start.

Bumble Bee will probably meet the same fate (though I like the mold), but better pictures of the paint job and finding it during a descent sale may sway me depending on price.

Actually I do hope this is the Target exclusive. Money saved for other things.

This is freakin' typical. I wonder how long it'll be until they do the molds I care about.

Well, if there's ever a time to start saying no and changing collecting habits it's with this line.

FYI, if you are talking about the price increases people posted about a few weeks ago, we are already living them. Those increases have been in effect for a few months now.

With that Optimus we FINALLY get the deco as he appears in the WFC Netflix Trilogy show, with the greenish broken windows. This could be why they didn't give us this in the Netflix line.

Ah yes, let's create a whole new subline of figures we've already gotten instead of addressing the major ones we already have, like the SS line. Who needs new Studio Series figures anyways? WE WANT MORE SIEGE OPTIMUS PRIME!

Interesting....

Takara's MB Line was quite popular at the time. I bought MB-11 RotF Prime and he's awesome.

Not sure the Premium Series Movie line back in 2008 was as popular though. Mostly exclusive to different stores (Target, BB, Walmart) but it had the benefit of not having an msrp markup at the time I don't think.

I could go for a PF SS RotF Prime with a nice paint scheme since I don't own any SS figures at this point.

Siege Prime with green windshields and more damage and dirt, is not very appealing, considering I already own the original release, and never liked the green cracked windshield in the show anyway.

Packaging looks like perfect effects. Dunno if thats a good or bad thing.

Easy pass on these things but maybe a figure or two might stand out down the line

The stock photography on that Optimus has very bad lighting/color saturation. His whole body is tinted green.

The on-package imagery shows him with correctly-colored blue windows.

Same with Bumblebee. He's a paler yellow than the brighter yellow on the packaging.

Maybe, maybe not. It could also be that they just used old/wrong photos for the packaging. Look at Prime's knees. In the stock photos, they are dirty with a new battle damage paint app we haven't seen before, on the package they are clean. That has nothing to do with the lighting, the paint apps are missing on the package photo, meaning that could simply be the same photo from the Siege packaging.

Ehhhhh..... I think I’m good. I’m still holding out hope for a better VW Bee in Studio Series, but for now Jeep Bee will be the definitive version for me. Nothing can beat Earthrise Optimus unless they took it and made it turn into an M1 Abrams (don’t ask why I want one lol) so not even gunna touch this one.

Seems kinda weird to pick the most inaccurate BB Bumblebee mold to do a premium deco on xD

Not for me, but it'll be cool to see what else they do.

These low quality pictures are not telling much. But if the figures come in a nice premium metallic paint job and extra details, I may pick some up.
That is, as long that these are not locked in ultra exclusivity.

Why the Siege OP mold? It may have been amazing when it came out enough for people to overlook the horrible cape and forearm fins, but once the Earthrise OP came out, it was soundly trounced. ER OP does everything the Siege OP did without the unsightly kibble and has a nicer vehicle mold. I took the cape off my spoiler pack Nemesis (it's a partsformers now, and I don't care). A premium finish can't help the mold unfortunately.

The Bee looks like a great concept, with the VW bug alt, gun, blade, and mask all in one figure... But it will probably be too expensive to justify it for me since I have the Netflix and clunker Bee.

But with the saturation of Buzzworthy Bumblebee in Targets and nothing else, and these characters being so overdone, and Prime not being the best mold, as well as so recent, I think if these don't sell well Hasbro will take the wrong message away. They will say "Transformers isn't as profitable because no one bought these" or they will say "Fans don't want premium finishes" or "fans really don't want Prime, so cancel that Armada Prime that we showed off for real." We don't want lazy repaints of recent molds that got released a bunch of times with a "premium" tacked on to inflate the price. Paint it right the first time. We do like Prime, he is a fan favorite, but it doesn't always have to be "G1" Prime, it's okay to branch out, especially after the phenomenal job that was ER OP (ER OP was really a dream come true for me personally. I don't mind playing with it with my 5yr old son, unlike MP-10). Also give us Titan Majin Zarak already.

Because there is an entire netflix show based around it.

This isn't a hasbro thing, it's Takara's baby and that Armada Prime was already cancelled anyway. Besides those things you complain about in the Siege mold were done to give him a Cybertronian alt mold but still turn into the cartoon model (like all the characters did in the cartoons pilot).

We'll probably never get majin zarak as that's too obscure for hasbro, and Takara won't want to foot the bill for the new mould.

Also if I'm not mistaken, this is just a redeco of the VW Bee we got in Studio Series any way, which people reported wasn't the best of designs...

More Details on New Transformers Premium Finish Lines and Comparison Images with Non Premium Figures

Some images popped up online for two upcoming Transformers Premium Finish lines. One based on generations figures and another based on movie figures. But the images were small and it wasn't clear what this was all about. Well now Loopaza Megastore has posted more details on their Facebook page as well as comparison images showing the difference between these figures and what we already had. Optimus, for instance, has the deco seen in the WFC Netflix show with the cracks on his windshield.

We also see that the plan is to release one figure from each line per month starting in October 2021. While this initiative is started by Takara, they may be available through Hasbro Pulse or other venues in the west as previous Takara "exclusive" were.

We've received some details of the coming up Transformers Premium Finish (PF) Series. This will be the original Japanese series, by selective of characters from two popular series: "Studio Series" & "War for Cybertron". The PF will add original premium paint details to make it as close to the screen accurate as possible. The first two release will be SS Bumblebee from Bumblebee Movie & Optimus Prime from the Netflix WFC Trilogy. Premium Finish will start release in coming October and will have 2 characters release in each month until March 2022 which means total of 12 characters (6 each).

If I squint pass the GIANT WATERMARKS I can see some differences with the Optimus. Bee however, is just the same damn picture with lower contrast.
