Some say Pat Lee, but I lean more towards this gem from "More than Meets the Eye, Part 3."

Although it could also be aimed at people who were fans of Bandai America's "Retrofire" Megazord action figures.

That's quite the insult to the Retrofire line. I loved that line's Gainex/Studio Trigger aesthetic, this Optimus Prime is just an abomination.

I can see a studio trying to "reboot" Transformers in this style with forced "politically correct" cultist preaching. With lot of crass "humor" of course, Like they did with Thundercats Roar, Teen Titans Go, PPG reboot, and so on.

Then as the show get completely rejected by the fans, they block likes/dislikes and comments, and you'll see articles from click-bait journos calling us "isms" and "phobics".

Seriously though, it's a real shame that Optimus doesn't transform. If it did, with a vehicle that would still look like a truck (although super deformed) I'd be all over this thing. :-?

He's got the itis

Seriously it looks like someone drew Optimus in that stupid "corporate" art style and they decided to make a toy out of it.

I've never before considered a Dreamwave comics / R. Crumb / yaoi hands Venn diagram, but here we are at the center.

Is this a crossover with Aeon Flux? Look at that tiny waist and tell me I'm wrong.

I for one think it looks cool and different.

I'd love for this to be a Deluxe sized transformable figure, even if they mega cheat with making the lower front of the vehicle mode a detachable shield because they can't get rid of it properly in robot mode.

The choice for a statue is a damn shame, if the dude had this pose with shoulder/head articulation:
https://thefigureinquestion.files.wordp ... round2.jpg

Than I would like it more. But I'm an avid disliker of statues.

In short, I like the wacky design and that cranked up to 80% to really go with it, hot halfway there.

Who the HELL decided that this was a good idea? Someone had to actually approve of this, which may or may not mean we get more figures like this in the future. You'd also think that it would have more articulation than a head and wrist swivel.

Autobots, deform and stand still!

If you thought Lootcrate's Optimus Prime was bad, get a load of their Beast Wars Megatron

We all had a good laugh at the terribly proportioned Optimus Prime statue from Lootcrate a few months back. Well, the good folks there didn't want the fun to end there so now they are bringing that style to the Beas era. To celebrate the 25th anniversary, they are giving us a Beast Wars Megatron in the very same vein. You'll let us know what you think and if you'll pick it up. Remember, loot boxes that are not sold will be shredded and stuck in a landfill, as can be seen in the video here.

You can grab it here on November 21st.

Honestly, this lootcrate BW Meg is not as bad as G1 OP, if this BW Meg's head sculpt is done with his signature "Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees" smirk, it might even beo so bonkers it's awesome.

Not as bad as Optimus. I can say it almost look good. As if Megs went a bit overboard through a diet.

What you guys need to remember is that this took a whole 5 minutes to design and all the designer had for reference was some DeviantArt search results and 1 of the new comics with the cheap Transformers Animated style.

Having said that, all creative expression is art, be it a song, movie, video game or painting no matter how controversial, simplistic or limited.

Look! He's actually there at that sunset! I don't think I can afford as many of these as I actually need.

This received Licenser Approval on that sculpt. …and given that, I’m curious how it was presented. …It could be that it was shown as a set that as a whole doesn’t look bad. …It’s just when seeing them individually things look way off.

BW Megatron isn't near as bad as Optimus was. It's still bad though.
Loot Crate has really gone downhill.

I don't think the intent of these is to make a screen accurate figure of the character, but rather something more surreal or abstract (or whatever the appropriate art genre term is). I'm not into it, but there are tons of intentionally strangely proportioned statues of things in art, so some people must be into it. I'm not sure why it seems so odd to see it done to a TF character.

I couldn't find a good clip or pic online, but anyone who remembers, that old Tex Avery cartoon where an alligator comes out of the water with a normal sized head and really tiny body and says "I've Been Sick"...that's what this reminds me of  .

It's a thing in modern art, sure, but I don't see it much in action collectibles aside from super deformed toys that have well defined proportions (ie bigger head). And as to why it seems extra odd on a TF character, it's maybe because geometry is at the core of the Transformers brand, unlike any other toy in the action figure department. Non transforming stuff is already a stretch for some people, so adding in the extra element could push it over the edge.

And your source for that is?

As for the unsold boxes... Nope, not investing in loot crates at all. >:oP
