This oddly proportioned 5 inch statue is an officially licensed product and will be exclusive to the crate on the month of July.
The box, which also includes GI Joe and other properties, goes live tomorrow 6/19/21 at 9PM Pacific and it costs $49.99. While it is in limited quantity, any unsold boxes will be destroyed, as we may assume from past instances.
We have many images of this figure that were sent to the TFW2005 website.
This will be up on the Loot Crate website.

But... yeah. Not tempted by THIS thing. Gadzooks, that waist is narrow and dinky compared to the chestal area. That, combined with the enormous gorilla arms, 2-dimensional thighs, and those jester-like feet... what were they thinking? It's like Transformers Animated but... not GOOD

I was just going to say...Pat Lee art doesn't look so bad now does it .
For the record though, I still think DW had the best Concepts for Transformers comics to date, it's just a shame the guy was a crook and ruined everything. There was a LOT of talent on that team.

It was bought by a bigger company for peanuts after practically going bankrupt

Amazing that they were rescued because they became overconfident in the market and they began making too much crates for too much things. Geeks couldn't keep up and just gave up.
Hopefully for those who still have their jobs, they are now under much better management. And as bizarre and ugly this Optimus is, at least it's something different.

The owner is Money Box LLC, which sounds like some kind of shady bankruptcy liquidator, but it's actually largely funded by NECA who uses it to sell exclusives.
This figure is definitely not going to endear Transformers fans into joining Loot Crate. No idea who they thought would buy this.

Although it could also be aimed at people who were fans of Bandai America's "Retrofire" Megazord action figures.

That's quite the insult to the Retrofire line. I loved that line's Gainex/Studio Trigger aesthetic, this Optimus Prime is just an abomination.

Then as the show get completely rejected by the fans, they block likes/dislikes and comments, and you'll see articles from click-bait journos calling us "isms" and "phobics".
Seriously though, it's a real shame that Optimus doesn't transform. If it did, with a vehicle that would still look like a truck (although super deformed) I'd be all over this thing.
Posted by BeastProwl on June 19th, 2021 @ 2:39pm CDT
Seriously it looks like someone drew Optimus in that stupid "corporate" art style and they decided to make a toy out of it.

Completists be like: "WTF"
TFA fans be like: "WTF?"
Ladies and gentlemen, Loot Crate has united the fandom in a single thought.

I'd love for this to be a Deluxe sized transformable figure, even if they mega cheat with making the lower front of the vehicle mode a detachable shield because they can't get rid of it properly in robot mode.
The choice for a statue is a damn shame, if the dude had this pose with shoulder/head articulation:

Than I would like it more. But I'm an avid disliker of statues.
In short, I like the wacky design and that cranked up to 80% to really go with it, hot halfway there.

Having said that, all creative expression is art, be it a song, movie, video game or painting no matter how controversial, simplistic or limited.
Look! He's actually there at that sunset! I don't think I can afford as many of these as I actually need.

Giant Purple Griffin wrote:I don't think the intent of these is to make a screen accurate figure of the character, but rather something more surreal or abstract (or whatever the appropriate art genre term is). I'm not into it, but there are tons of intentionally strangely proportioned statues of things in art, so some people must be into it. I'm not sure why it seems so odd to see it done to a TF character.
It's a thing in modern art, sure, but I don't see it much in action collectibles aside from super deformed toys that have well defined proportions (ie bigger head). And as to why it seems extra odd on a TF character, it's maybe because geometry is at the core of the Transformers brand, unlike any other toy in the action figure department. Non transforming stuff is already a stretch for some people, so adding in the extra element could push it over the edge.
