Masabon, of the TFW2005 Boards, has posted scans of the July issue of Hyper Hobby Magazine. In it, we see more shots of 2010 Unicron, the upcoming "Sons of Cybertron" (which I typed as "Seibertron" twice), MP-04S Masterpiece Convoy Sleep Mode, the remaining NEST Revenge of the Fallen figures, and more Animated.

Maybe it's just me, but the original Unicron Headsculpt was already great. I really don't see the point of this repaint nor do I understand the hype. The Armada one was never BAD, I always thought it was great. If they were going to make a Unicron, why not redo the Unicron Prototype for BeastWars Neo. At least then we'd have a completely different mold and not just a pointless new headsculpt.

Well, the Armada one had too much transparent plastic, IMO, but otherwise it was great, including the head.

The point of this one is increased G1 accuracy, which for some is a big thing. Still not worth that much money to me though.

Nice side-by-side comparisons, anyway.

Other than the head how is this G1 accurate? I've already heard someone else bring up that it is still based off the Armada Unicron, obvious yes but it brings up a valid point. G1 Unicron had three wing appendages, definitely did not have that much black on it, didn't have the leg bits with the guns. In the end it's just a slight retool and a heavy redeco. I think it's kinda cool but I personally don't want to spend that much money on it

This Unicron is way better looking then the Armada Version! I only bought the Energon version, but this I cannot pass up! He looks way more menacing. Loving that remolded head! :CON:

Yes, this is an improvement from the Armada version. If September comes around and there is a dearth of any significant TF releases, then I will consider getting him. However, he is very expensive and we just have a trainload of really cool releases coming our way between now and then. If I actually were to add up the cost of all of the preorders I have right now, I am sure I would crap a brick. I don't want to know, as ignorance is bliss.

I hear ya, I'm totally happy with my Armada Unicron and this is like 95% the same figure. If they remolded the planet's mouth to be more G1 accurate then I'd be salivating over it like everyone else. I still wouldn't buy it though.

if G1 accuracy was all that important here, they'd have switched out the red light for a turquoise one. and pretty much completely remolded it, but that would have been a lot harder and made it even more expensive. i'll stick with the Armada one as Neo-G1/Classics Unicron.

The colors, mainly. G1 Unicron certainly didn't have any purple. And as far as most pictures have indicated, that's dark grey on 2010 Unicron, not black.

Unicron will be a perfect addition to my WST collection, I'm going to make a mini matrix for Rodimus.
