Hi!

Got a solicitation through at Kapow Toys today for the re-release of the C-05 Henkei Rodimus which is due in September this year, release is for Japan and no changes have been made to the figure itself or the packaging.

Good news for those guys that dont want to pay the high secondary market prices

Cheers

Andy

Have you been looking in vein these last few years for a Henkei Rodimus without having to give up a kidney or settle for a cheap KO? Red Leader of Kapow toys stopped by our Transformers Toy Forum to let us know that he has recieved a solicitaion that Takara will be reissuing Henkei Rodimus later this year. He says this is a straight up re-release with no changes being made to the figure or packaging. It is due out in September. In the mean time, you can check out the Henkei Rodimus Gallery and call and cancel your surgery appointment.

Just commented on this on facebook,

I can finally replace my sold Henkei Rodders without having to put up with the uglyass paintjob on the cybertron 2 pack hot rod

I sure hope retailers put a one per customer limit on this; scalpers will be all over this

Nice. Hopefully the prices will go down on this particular mold. I want to see a re-release of Wildrider myself so I can get my hands on one.

One of my TF buddies had the guts to call me at work with this news today, and I'm glad he did! Eagerly waiting for this second chance at the Henkei. :D

Thus, rendering the recently announced knock-off, useless. :P

I'll happily take two more, please.

So Takara, now that that is out of the way, you been watching the aftermarket price of Henkei Sunstreaker?

Not unless additional runs of Henkei Wildrider and Snidely Whiplash Shattered Glass Rodimus come off HasTak's assembly lines, which I find highly unlikely.

No. When a toy is KO'ed, the mold is milked. We'll see a Wild Rider and Shattered Glass Hot Rodimus. Not to mention a clear Hot Rod for those who don't want to pay out the absurd prices for the Takara version.

This might be me being thick, but do Hasbro and Takara gain any profit from certain figures being drastically more expensive than others? Because i find it strange that some figures that are made, or repainted and would be extremely popular dont get released on mass.

Whereas they repaint certain molds into bots/cons that have no resemblence to the new character

It comes down to how large the production runs are. The smaller the run, the more expensive it becomes since total cost is spread across a smaller surface.

The original is always best ;) I've always had a hard time deciding between Classics and Henkei Rodimus, but this tips it in Henkei's favor :)

Yeah... but people are probably contented with whatever version of hot rod they have... we need re issused of other less released molds

Not me. I have BiS Rodimus for my Universe 2003 shelf, Clear Blue for display with Cybertron Primus, and now I need one for my regular Neo-G1 shelf ;)

You priced out a Classics or Henkei Roddy lately? From the aftermarket prices it's pretty obvious there's a lot of demand for Henkei Rodimus, driven by the release of FansProject's Protector armor/trailer set and the absence of a recently available at retail "normal" deco'ed version of the character.

I presently own a Classics Rodimus and a Henkei Rodimus, and will be buying two more Henkei versions when this hits.

I'd could use another Henkei Sunstreaker and Smokescreen, and I'd take two Henkei Alerts, but that about covers it.

If Takara really wanted to rake in some bucks they could always release a Henkei Ultra Magnus.

It's good news for anyone who hasn't got a Rodimus yet, but... Why isn't this released under the 'united'-banner?

Have you taken a good look at CaC BiS Rodimus? When it fell out of the ugly tree it hit EVERY branch on the way down, and doesn't match the Protector armor:

I mean, really? The paintjob looks like a super-cheap KO.

I'm with gavinfuzzy here. I don't care how "rare" a particular deco of Rodimus is. The fact of the matter is that there are already a dozen redecos of this mould and it needs to stop.

Why can't we get reissues of the other classics figures that people desperately want? We've seen plenty or this Rodimus mould. If you don't own it by now, you're not trying hard enough.

Many fans consider it inferior to the original, and I partially agree. His color palette is simple, yet effective in capturing his cartoon look, but my main criticism is his lack of translucent plastic.

I don't really get this unless they are trying to capitalize on the FansProject trailer.

Henkei Rodimus went on Clearance on two different occasions on BBTS. They really should get on re-releasing some of the ones that went straight to sell out like Smokescreen, Skyfire, Astrotrain, and Inferno.
