I prefer the black arms, but I like the red on the "japanese" version better.
The "US" version seems to have some paint on the red parts that looks out of place.
I preordered the black arms version, though.

I made an animated gif to help show off differences between the two versions. In addition to the arms, there seem to be subtle differences in the paint applications between the two.

I kinda like the two-toned leg color of the black arm version, but I really like the coherency of the red arm version.
Can't decide. I've pre-ordered the black arm for now, but may switch or just buy both since I have 3 Metroplexes now(yay thrift store shopping!). Maybe 3 so I can repaint one for my planned Metrotitan repaint...

I am in agreement with Midnight_Fox. I love the two tone (and darker) red of the legs, but I prefer the more uniform look of the red arms. Plus, having the silver vents is a plus.
And props to Yotsuyasan! That GIF rocks and really helps a lot.
Or hurts a lot, because I'm not sure which version I really want now.

I preordered the version with black arms. It breaks up the color scheme a bit more for me. Anyway, this is great! My Metroplex will pretty much be complete with this guy.

I think this is seriously lacking compared to the TFC-009 Gear of War 3 Accessory Pack. BBTS has both of these priced at almost the same price.
Looking at both toys pics on the BBTS site. The TFC-009 Gear of War 3 Accessory Pack appears to seperate into more guns & accessories for Metroplex to use. I this this set also gives Metroplex newer hands. This also might even give metroplex a secondary big red gun, similar to the one Hasbro gave the Titan Metroplex toy.

This version is so much better than the ugly TFC version with the oversized boxing gloves. Nice they give you a choice of cartoon accurate red arms or toy accurate black arms. I went for the red arms since the Metroplex mold is meant to be cartoon accurate.

Well, to each their own, but I quite disagree.
Tsutsukakushi wrote:Looking at both toys pics on the BBTS site. The TFC-009 Gear of War 3 Accessory Pack appears to seperate into more guns & accessories for Metroplex to use.
Tsutsukakushi wrote:This also might even give metroplex a secondary big red gun, similar to the one Hasbro gave the Titan Metroplex toy.
Let's see... The TFC one separates into two mid-sized red guns, two black guns, one large red and white gun that vaguely looks like the one that comes with Metroplex (but not nearly enough to me to be a match for the original gun, defeating the purpose of it), two forearms and fists that don't seem to have a secondary use.
Plus there's a bunch of little bits of kibble and connecting pieces that look like they may not be used in every mode.
Also, the two black guns that come with this one look as if they are meant to replace the ones that come with Metroplex. So really, good luck to you if you want to use everything.
Finally, using the parts that form this figure, when separated you're going to get at most five guns. A Sixgun made from five guns. WTF.
This one, from Before N After, separates into two red guns, two black guns (utilizing the ones that came with Metroplex), and a tower for Metroplex's city mode that has a twin turret on it. That's six -- count 'em -- six guns! Six guns on a Sixgun! Who'd have thunk it?
Also, did you catch that bit in the last paragraph when I mentioned a tower for the city mode? Kind of like what the G1 version could make?
All of that, and no plethora of little left over bits & pieces!
Plus... This one also comes with a Slammer! The TFC one ain't got that!
Tsutsukakushi wrote:I this this set also gives Metroplex newer hands.
Did I miss something somewhere? I never saw anything that said or showed that the TFC version came with new hands for Metroplex himself.
So... TFC version: $5.00 more. Comes with two black guns that the Before N After one doesn't, but they are somewhat redundant (in my opinion, at least) when you also consider the black guns that come with Metroplex. Has lots of little extra bits and pieces that may not be usable in all modes, not the least of which are the huge forearms and fists.
Before N After Version: $5.00 less. Doesn't come with a pair of black guns. Does, however, come with a Slammer! Breaks up into more usable pieces with less (or no) leftovers. Also (although I admit this one is opinion) is much better proportioned as a robot.
So, how is this one lacking compared to the TFC one? I'd say they're roughly equal, with differences subject to personal preference. (And in my opinion, the TFC one is the lacking one!)
Agamemnon wrote:And I would just like to say that I have no idea what Tsutsukakushi was saying in that last post. The TFC version gives Metroplex new hands? What?
Yeah, it was a rather confusing post, although I made a hopefully valiant attempt to decipher it.

I've used them twice before and they have been great, and never heard anything bad about their customer service. Both BBTS and TFS are really good in that area, it's just the BBTS website makes the TFS website look stoneage.Yotsuyasan wrote:Personally, I quite like TFSource, and find they have excellent customer service. For example, with Metroplex himself he arrived severely damaged. But TFSource stepped up to the plate. I had to pay the initial return shipping. (This was a bit of a bummer at over $40... he's a big toy!) But then they took a look at it, they were able to take another returned Metroplex they had and between the two have one complete, unbroken unit, they shipped the results back to me at no additional charge, and they reimbursed the return shipping I'd had to cover. And while I had to wait a few days to hear back from them after my initial complaint, once the process was started it all happened very quickly and communication during the process was fairly constant. So they took what initially was a crushing disappointment (opening my Metroplex and finding him broken) and turned it into a huge success!
I'm using the Stack Manager and thought he was still on pre-order but it looks like he dropped just before I went to cancel him. Will use the email you posted, thanks for the reply.Yotsuyasan wrote:As far as canceling orders... Are you using the Stack Manager? And is Cubex in stock, or a pre-order? If you're using the stack manager and he is a pre-order, then in your stack manager there should be a nice big red "X" to the left of each pre-order item, and clicking that "X" removes the item from your stack. Otherwise, just using the website itself, I don't think there is much you can do. But you could always try sending them an e-mail (customercare@tfsource.com) to see if there is any way of removing the item from your order.

I think that was his only appearance, but I could be wrong. So no shame there in forgetting him.
For me, this is five bucks cheaper than TFC's, actually has SIX guns, is way better-proportioned, and looks like it transforms. Add in a Slammer and it's a no-brainer this one gets my money.
EDIT: And unlike TFC, there probably won't be some damned upgrade set for him down the line!

Super excited and the video shows that the black arms look a lot better when the background isn't white.

(Embedded video in quote, hope you don't mind, mooncake623.) Vangelus is one of my favorite reviewers, and he really showed how awesome Six Sigma is. I can't wait to get him in.
I wonder what sorts of options might be available in carrier mode. It'd be really great if the leg-guns mounted on the flattop (Metroplex Legs) in a sort of G1 fashion. The red gun that comes with him can, hence the desire for the versions with two of those guns. Then, what to do with the tower portion. I just checked, and the screw holes on the open helipad are not the same width as the ones either side of the seated gun on the shoulder. I think it's going to be fun to see how this guy can be adapted.
Way to hit a home run out of the gate, Before N After!!
[Edit] And after looking at the BBTS page, trying to decide if I want to switch from the red arms to the black arms, I noticed that it now says "Late March 2014." Could Six Sigma be about ready to ship?

Indeed, it does look quite good. Still going for the red version, myself, as I feel once you add on the black guns I'll want the red for contrast. But nice to know that both versions should look nice.
