RID all up in mah Grill

Postby no-one » Thu May 05, 2016 12:48 am

Picked up a couple new RID15 figures. Warrior class Thunderhoof and Quillfire. Both these guys are really cool and come with neat weapons.

Image

QFire really takes the cake for me. He is a short little stubby beastie with great posability. He has bicep and thigh swivels and even a little bit of a neck swivel. He is just dripping with personality, partially due to his maw. Transformation is fun and more involved than I would have expected, but very intuitive. He has shiny paint apps in all the right places. Both weapons tuck away nice and neatly in alt mode. Love that sweet metallic fleck revolver he comes with. My favorite part is how he feels in hand. He has that nice smooth kinda soft to the touch dense plastic that is just a joy to handle. Very reminiscent of the Prime figures.

THoofer, fuhgeddaboudit! Overall not quite as impressive as I thought he would be (I think my expectations were set too high); a little small and thin for the character. Probably would make a better voyager sized figure. None the less a cool figure with a crazy amount of folding happening during transformation. He ends up tiny in alt mode; more like a lawn tractor. The transformation is really good and fairly involved (had me scratching my head for a bit), but posabilty is a bit limited on this one. A lot of the problems coming from his shoulders and his antlers getting in the way. THoof can store his gun on his back and under the vehicle mode in slots that don't show up until he's been transformed.

Both figures are worthy of of your RID collection and some of the best in the line. Both are fun to transform and play with and generally just satisfying. I will say that Quillfire is the stronger of the two and just a cool Transformer to own, even if you don't collect RID.

Of course, but as of right now I will be spreading things out and re-arranging. It's a big project and I'm taking my time.

Nice write ups on the bots!
Thanks. I wanted to take more pics, but it was late and I was getting incoherent(er).

So they do, I was wondering what those rivets were for. Good to know, thanks for pointing that out. That should help with articulation ;)^

Huffin' Pipes and Mold Reuse

Postby no-one » Fri May 13, 2016 2:13 pm

Well I guess I'm not as tired of mold re-use as I thought or maybe I'm just tire of CW :-?

Anyways, I picked up Pipa Smurf this week, love that mold. Here are some celleo pics I took and posted here and there.

Don't you mean quartet? ;)

Oh, hey I figured something out with opening the images in a new tab. So if you have a browser that allows you to open an image in a new tab (and why wouldn't you, I mean who uses IE? amiright?) you will be sent to the full resolution version instead of the lame photobucket view. Give it a whirl and let me know what cha think?

I didn't do the cell phone pics if you wanna see the difference. Or if it's working correctly on your side.

I don't really see a difference between your post and a new tab. But when your pics look that good, it doesn't really matter. The diffuser set up looks, well, BALLER! Judging by the shots it seems to be working pretty well too.

Glad you are using your extra day off to play! ;)^

If I had time, space and willingness, I'd try setting an actual set-up up. Alas, I rely on weird lights, natural lighting and makeshift backgrounds until the bedroom is sorted out. Need to find my camera in time for Victorion though.

I meant the opposite! Yours is an actual set-up compared to the no set-up I have!
My set-up is the wall and the camera phone. Sometimes a sheet of paper, or a lamp.

Why FE of course. Dig back a few pages and I have some rushed blurry cellio pics.

Lighting can make or break a photo and is the biggest challenge I face.

Nope, just picking up the filth I'm laying down.

Nope, I've had it for a while but it normally over exposes and looks white. I've been hesitant to use it because it blows out my pics. My current setup give me way more flexible lighting and I'm starting to understand how to use F stops.

Edit: it is lovely, thanks
