Do it brah, I read your old interview and got inspired. Also it's a fantastically fun mold and dead sexy in alt mode.

You have no idea how many curls are still hiding in this head. I am Mediterranean after all.

I need to figure out if I have the time to take photos in the morning, but yes, Spikeswipe is right next to my desk. Oooooh temptation.

A Tale of Two Arcee's
Will had asked me why I liked the Prime First Edition Arcee, so here is a little pictorial review.
I have a tender spot for Prime and them First Edition figures, but Arcee stands out as my favorite in the line and is up there as one with the rest of my figures. So what makes this mold so groovy?
It probably comes down to two things; the amazing amount of articulation in bot mode and the clever transformation. Side note: I don't own the PRID Deluxe version, so Generations Chromia is going play that part today!
FE Arcee has a nice tight and compact alt mode with a satisfying transformation into a tall slender bot. There is a bit of a mass shift feel and some neat little tricks here and there.

One of my favorite parts is how the bike's headlights flip around to become the bot's... ummmmmm, headlights

Chesticles!
I use a home brew fan mode for her backpack. The instructions has the front wheel sideways, but I like it flipped around backwards and tucked nice and neatly away. It sticks up just a bit more, but I prefer the symmetry. Which of course I didn't take a picture of. The second thing on my cool list that I also didn't take a pic of is how the back tire splits in half and become the bottom parts of the legs. Click here for a pic by someone who has some sense.
Time for a little "they don't make 'em like they used to" moment. Her light piping is amazing and even better than that is the sculpted pupils. Check it...

No, really get in there and get a good look!

Unreal, huh?
I skipped pinky because just like TLC; she is missing her left eye... bummer
yes I'm ashamed of that joke
Hey, did anyone say articulation?

Got a little Captain in you?
You can just hear Knock Out complaining about the paint scratches, can't you? Well since I brought up the show I guess I have to address that the FE Arcee mold isn't as show accurate as the PRID deluxe. And not everything is bright and sunny in FE Arcee land. Her shoulder wings limit arm articulation and her hands are really only good for holding up her hips. Did I mention she has a wasp booty? No? Good because I didn't take a picture of that either
Whatcha going do?
I guess that wraps it up, toodles!

Well that's a nice little write up there!! I really do enjoy the Transformers Prime figures..I may have to re-invest in them. I have issue with my voyager Ultra Magnus as he is soooooooooo loose. I have yet to floor polish him, but I mean seriously, how was a brand new figure so loose?! I still watch Transformers Prime from time to time, I'm a big fan of the story and animation so it helps. Maybe I'll pick up one of those Platinum Editions with the giant hammer. Pretty nice re-deco of Weaponizers Optimus. Never had an Arcee though, I actually have ZERO Arcee's..lame. Those eyes sell that figure for me. CRAZY!!

Great spread Care. She's neat. Those eyes!
So she's a bit bigger than the SE release, huh?
Really like the way here legs are formed. The split wheel is cool.

I got the NYCC set before I had any of the others. I was super new to collecting and just starting to catch up on Prime. After much research I found the FE stuff really cool, but I really wanted a pink Arcee. At the time I could have gotten the blue version for half the price that I got the set for, so win win. I picked up ol blue for cheap at TJ Maxx, win win win!shajaki wrote:I've been hunting for that Pink version for a while now
She is a tall one fo sho. If the standard deluxe is anything like Chromia, the transformations aren't that different. The FE is just a little nicer/fancier. Both are too tall/big to scale with the rest of the team though. Arcee is easily my fav of the Prime figures. Bulks takes the cake for on the show, he is just such a softy. I like that cratchetity old Rachet too; awwww hell, I love em allCobotron wrote:Great spread Care. She's neat. Those eyes!

Dee-Groovey
I received Combiner Wars Deluxe Groove today. So after all the waiting, Groove may have been a little over hyped. If you've transformed any CW figure over the last year you'll find no surprises here. My initial reaction was that as far as transformation goes, big Groove is basically an Aerialbot on wheels, a nice Aerialbot on wheels that is. Groove comes with a couple very nice guns and the standard issue HFG.
Alt mode is a mix of looks nice, but isn't quite selling it for me. It's a big chunky motorcycle that looks unrideable. Mount the gatling gun on top to finish off this absurd self driving war-cycle. The arms do fold down nicely to form the motor. This leaves a little to be desired because of the visible fist. I'll give them bonus points for the wrist mounted kickstand and that the arms transform differently for alt mode and limb mode. And don't forget all that gorgeous clear plastic and brilliant Autobrand tampo'd on the windshield. He comes with not one but two guns that are cast in two different colored clear plastics then nicely painted sliver. They peg into alt mode wonderfully, flesh out the look of a motorcycle while adding police lights and even evokes the look of the original toy.

Hot Spot: What have we here?
Blades: A new Recruit.
Rook: I don't like it boss!
Streetwise: Have we met before?

First Aid: Hey look, here comes Groove!
Hot Spot: Oh, hiya buddy.

Lil Groove: WTF guys?!?
Rook: I know right?!
Hot Spot: Meh, there's no I in team.

Rook: Come on pal, let's go where we will be appreciated.
Lil Groove: Yeah!
Transformation is very similar to the rest of the Combiner War line with the closest cousin being any one of the Aerialbots. I love a good motorcycle bot and I'm always interested to see how they handle the tires. The rear wheel takes a cue from the Prime Arcee molds and splits in half, it's not quite as elegant here, but gets the job done. The front tire predictably does a 180 and ends up as a backpack.

Big Groove: What was all that about?
Hot Spot: Beats me. So tell me a little about yourself.

The Real Groove: The names Groove, usurping is my game!

Groove: Look in my eyes. Do I look like the kinda bot that messes around? Spoiler, the answer is NO!
Bot mode is where groove shines. Groove is slightly nicer than your standard CW deluxe and seems to have just a little bit more paint than I'm used to. Everything folds up nicely and gets out of the way to leave a well articulated bot. He is very expressive and can be wiggled into some nice poses. The rear wheel splits and blend into his legs well, but the entire front wheel assembly becomes just another CW backpack. Groove's backpack isn't too large and I just like looking at all the nice paint details and clear plastic. Did I mention that Autobot insignia, yeah it's pretty. Unfortunately there is nowhere in bot mode to peg his weapons other than in his hands. The good news is that he holds his well proportioned guns great. One of Groove's more striking features is his amazing light piping. They achieved this by having the back half of his head clear with holes to his eyes; odd but effective!

Groove: I got guns and I know how to use 'em! Sheer energy guns!

Groove: Action pose!

Groove: Outta may face, fool!

Groove: That's better. LOOK OUT!

*PEW PEW PEW*

Lil Groove: Hmmmmm.....

Lil Groove: Well no one is around....

Lil Groove: A quick spin won't hurt nobody...

Lil Groove: WHOOOOOOA NELLY!!!!!

*VROOOOOOOM!!!!*

Lil Groove: WHEEEEEEE!

Lil Groove: Ummmm.... this isn't what it looks like.

Big Groove: I make a good leg too!

Leg extension; patent pending
Groove is full of little bells and whistles. I've said it once and I'll say it again: Groove is slightly nicer than your standard deluxe combiner wars figures with plenty of paint and unheard of visible clear plastic. He is armed to the teeth and is a posable bot that is definitely capable of using his weapons. Transformation is a little boring and ends in a lackluster alt mode. After a few days of being a rogue agent he will take his rightful place as Defensor's svelte right leg.
Groove is just de-lovely and delicious. If you can wait to grab this figure at a fair retail price then I'd give him the Cary
seal of approval!

This will be a day long remembered. The day when Groove gets his Groove back.
It's like the Junkions, motorbikes riding motorbikes. How does lil Groove do when regular Groove goes for a joyride?
Answer: Not well.

Thats because this is one of those rare times when Hasbro just repackaged a Takara toy as their own. It happens every so often and I like to keep track of it. I think the last time it happened was with Platinum Predaking.
