Re: MP Rodimus's broken arms (Hasbro)
Maybe you could take it apart and parts swap with another broken MP Roddy. I don't have it in front of me, but the broken piece seems to be hidden, so maybe you could buy a broken Takara Version 1 Roddy (who had other bad issues) from someone and so a parts swap?

And it strikes again...
This is a common problem, actually. Several mentions over at TFW, as well. The shoulders literally disintegrate and the arms just fly off on their own. One guy had his on display, never transformed it, just took it out of the package and this happened. Said he was in the room doing something else and he heard "pop clunk" and the arm was laying on the shelf. The other arm ended up falling off later.
The spring ends up forcing it right off.
This mold, this poor, unfortunate mold... If it's not the fragility of V.1, it's the Hasbro version's shoulders popping off.
The only way, it seems, to get a reliable and sturdy Masterpiece Rodimus is to get V.2 of TakaraTomy's. It has all the fixes of the Hasbro version, with none of the breakage problems.
What a costly mess this figure has turned out to be. I have V.1 and I've been fortunate not to have any breakage, but there are stress marks and I can see why it could break. Better planning should've been used in some spots. They tried to do too much in too small a space.

Alternative: if you see it in a shop, buy it then return your broken one in its place. I see no ethical issue with this if you really have hardly touched him.
It may be hollow on 1 side, but the other side is flush, since the metal pin is in there.

As for shops... I've never seen a collector shop import this, only TRU.

I'll be waiting for your post. The one where you buy a toy, get it home, unpack it, only to discover it was a perfectly resealed piece of junk that fell apart the first time you transformed it.
Well he could tell them it was broken right out of the package, which it effectively was I suppose. Then what TRU does with it is up to them.
The TRU receipt has this printed on it : "Strictly no exchange or refund on Transformers, Star Wars (other stuff) products."

WHAAAT?!
Wait, when did that begin? I have the receipt in front of me from TRU for when I bought PRID Voyager Starscream a few days ago and there is no mention of this on it. If they are going to start restricting exchanges and returns to this extent there's no way I'm going to buy stuff from them!

Oh, I see that you're in Singapore; guess they have a different set of rules. I hope they don't bring that policy to TRU in the US!

Gavin is from Singapore, different store practice from that in the US.
And Gavin, I feel for you bro', same thing happened to my Superpants USA version Optimus, his arm just broke off the shoulder. WTF?!
So what I need to do is look for the v2 Rodimus Convoy then?

I had the same exact problem. I couldn't manage to super glue it back together the spring inside, so I did it without. He still transforms, joint still has motion, it just doesn't click and lock, but it's tight enough.

No exchanges? In my country that practice is illegal. It's the seller's legal responsibility to replace or refund faulty items. Gavin, I recommend you try anyway. Kick up a fuss. Maybe it's their policy just to stop people taking back empty boxes and replaced figures. MAYBE they'll do an exchange on faulty goods.
That's what I meant - take it back and complain that it broke straight out of the box. I certainly did NOT mean return as unwanted unopened item!

The no-refund TF policy began in 2007. When the movie came out. back then, there was a limit on 2 same TFs purchases per person (Yeah, that's when bumblebee was rare.)
Well, They are real strict with this, I have attempted and they won't take it back.

And no doubt sending it back to Hasbro will net you either a Tuner Mudflap or one of a thousand variations of deluxe Bee in exchange. Sad customer service. Very sad.

Add my MP HotRod to the casualties list, left arm just broke off randomly for no reason today. i was just sitting there playing Deus Ex when all of a sudden i heard something fall, look around and notice HotRod is without an arm. Had this figure for almost a year and barely even touched it and its already worse off than figures ive had my entire life. Doesnt hasbro test their products anymore? How could something like this get by them?

Re: MP Rodimus's broken arms (Hasbro)
I manage to patch up mine. It is not perfect but it is holding up. took the screw with me to walmart measured the size of thickness but made sure it is slightly bigger. Couldn't find a small washer for it but didn't need it on the reattached shoulder. that is how i fixed his broken left shoulder. decided not to put the rotating spring on since it didn't need it. but saved it. didn't throw it away. Name of screws Bulldog Hardware Wood Screws ws-70 #4 x 1/2 in #4 x 12.7 mm qty. cont. 35 Found them at walmart for 99 cents. Fixed the broken ankle with a twist tie. Feel better about it but I won't transform him anymore. Won't mess with his arms either just in case.

Re: MP Rodimus's broken arms (Hasbro)
Remember to unscrew the three screws behind the arm and take it off the shoulder joint. Put the screw and screw it in a little with a screw driver. Make sure it is not all the way in so it doesn't crack the inner shoulder connecter. Then slide in the arm carefully onto the shoulder connector and carefully screw it back on. The twist and tie put it over the ankle pin above it. make sure both ends are even ,and wrap around the ankle until you get to that end and then put that end above the pin then start from the other end. Do it at least twice. start one end first then the opposite direction. 2 times! Cut the excess tie that you don't need off ,and you are done!

I understand that they are trying to prevent toy swaps, but I think a deffective item can still be returned. They just wont exchange or refund a "sealed" item.
