I have now finished my (initial) play around with MP Hotrod.
He. Might be. My... FAVORITE Masterpiece yet. And I do NOT say that lightly.

Out of the box, he's in car mode. And I'm not even kidding, I just starred at it for a good 10 minutes. It's just so friggin sleek! I couldn't take my eyes off that engine block or the rear end, he looked EXACTLY like he did in the movie. I got tingles.

Transforming is exactly like Cobs said. It flows naturally and is a joy. So robot mode, first up: backpack. It doesn't look like anything out of the ordinary to me. And Densh, I'm surprised by you being so taken aback by Hotrod but not Surgio. Rod's feels like a part of his torso, while Surgio's is flat out "a backpack".

Flat chest? Sooooooooooo what? Looks fine to me.
What do I love? Posability is a dream. Arm cannon thingies are somehow more satisfying than MP09. Head sculpt and shades are perfect. The hood panels that become the shoulders, I dunno... just fill him out and give him a real organic look y'know?

My beefs: firstly the wheels. They're smooth and plastic. Bleh. And the hip skirt, whatever you call the front piece (crotch plate?) bugs me that it's one solid piece. These complaints are minor, I %^&*#$@ing LOVE this figure. And I'm almost positive I'm buying a second one just to have in car mode.

I think I have to say yes. Simply from the amount of times I watched TF the movie when I was a kid, I loved Hotrod more than anything else. While Blublu is phenomenal, my childhood memories of him are simply a trading card with a pic of Blue's box art where he was actually blue. And Diaclone isn't something I knew about growing up, but came to deeply appreciate as an adult collector.

So yeah. Hotrod might be my #1.

This. All day. Erry day. I may or may not have said this ever on the boards, but G1 S1 was my favorite with Bumblebee as my favorite character. Then TF:TM became my favorite with Hot Rod as my favorite character. I mean, I like everyone else too, but those always stuck out in my mind as my favorites. So, I feel ya shaj!!!

Ya know fella's maybe that's a little bit of whats pulling me in on this figure too. That movie had a big impact on me too. I remember asking my brother why the TV show didn't look as good as the movie. It and Beast Wars/Machines really are the best bits of moving fiction there are. And yup, after the movie Hot Rod was the first movie figure I got. It had to be. He was the Luke Skywalker of the new age of Transformers.

Right now I have every Hot Rod toy I own out on my desk, and I just keep transforming them back and forth.And they are all cool.

I'm glad you guys find 28 to be so awesome. Imagine what the rest of the movie cast will be like. MP Kup? MP-Springer? MP-Arcee? ... MP-Cyclonus!!!!!!

I can't wait for the Black Rodimus repaint of this guy. You KNOW it's gonna happen. That TFA Black Rodimus has sold me on all future Black Rodimus figures

Welcome back everyone! I missed my Jaki Shak, I'm sure y'all missed your haunts too.
This Sunday was the "Pop Culture Fair" here in Eddy-town and I managed to nab some beauts! And I think I'm only going to post this here since I know this is a safe place



CE Inferno, Universe Cyclonus, and *gasp* KO G1's Wheeljack and Cyclonus.
I have a master list of what I specifically want (version-wise) for my G1 collection and naturally I've done a lot of research. I chose CE Inferno over the other reissues because for some reason, Hasbro decided to give him cartoon accurate blue eyes! Universe/Classics Cyclonus brings to a close my mold completion for him (and Nightstick), funny enough since that's actually the first use of it. I found him loose from a vendor asking for $25, I offered 20, he wouldn't budge so I walked.... about 12 feet to another booth with a guy selling a sealed one for 25!

And now for the scandal: KO's! This isn't my first venture into the Chinese G1 KO town, I previously bought a Mirage, and a blue Diaclone Swoop. They both turned out to be great, so I'm going to go that route for whatever isn't reissued. I want sealed, case fresh toys in my collection, so trust me if HasTak reissued them officially then I'd go to them. But alas, there are gaps, and these Chinese KO's are tantamount to the real deal.

Cyclonus is like a DREAM. I can't imagine how much fun I would have had with this figure as a kid. He has shoulder, elbow, wrist, pelvis, and knee joints!! That's unheard of for a G1 figure! And you know whats more amazing than that? His jet mode is even sleeker than the modern representations! Wheeljack has some flaws, he's a little floppy and loose in spots. But... I recently opened up my other recent G1 acquisitions (Roadrage and Crosscut) and Crosscut was actually no different. And he's official. So if I can forgive it on a 100+ exclusive then I can forgive it on a $65 KO. And I LOVE his car mode.

I didn't open Inferno yet, but here's my KO's chillin with my E-Hobby's.

I gots all of em so far. And I do have the first 4 UW sets, but have (for now) passed on the Prime and Galvatron sets. I just can't afford them

You're a beast of collecting (I don't know why, but I thought you mainly just did the MP stuff). That Tak Galvy set has my attention as well. I can't put a finger on it, I just like them.

Trailmixer and Smokey look real good. I'm taken aback on how striking SS is. I saw the whole set yesterday and it was even harder to walk this time. I know I'm fighting a losing battle. I may just break when/if TFS or BBTS puts the whole wave on markdown.

Trust me when I say I've been playing the hokey pokey with my HTS cart. If that cool kitty Sky Lynx would hit the site, I might just have to cringe suck it up and jump on those battle cats.

If Sky Lynx comes in stock in HTS it's all over. I will buy him!

And yes, the wave 6 guys are so enjoyable in hand. Wheeljack really doesn't look as bad in hand and I love all 4 of them. Really fun guys!

I buy whatever I can, but if times become tight then the funds become reserved for MP's. Second to that at the moment is the UW line, but only for the proper scramble city bots. So Convoy and Galvy are on the back burner. I'm not terribly worried about them either as they're already expensive, and not a "must have". They'll still be around when I'm ready for them.

So you guys may have seen my Steelbooks before. But if not, they're (usually) exclusive packages for movies and games that are just *sigh* really pretty. Anyways, I'm a huge movie buff and collector (naturally) so these things were pretty much made for me.

I'm a long time Disney fan, and overplayed song aside, I loved Frozen. I used to own it, but the ex took it when she left so why not by a Japan only expensive Steelbook release?

*The Steelbook is actually in a box with a lenticular cover*

Dammit. Now I'm hearing "Let it Go"....

I'll make sure I post pictures of my daughter's second birthday cake when we get it shajaki. It'll be Monsters University/Inc and Frozen themed. With panda cupcakes.
