Repaints is not the same thing as a retool give me an example where they took a mold and only changed the head to have a Headmaster.


Like for example the Energon Scorponk got a new head for Botcon 2014 but since that was a exclusive it doesn't count.

But I mean... wouldn't that be cool? To get a mold rereleased not only with some deco changes, but some tooling changes as well? I really do not understand what the problem is here.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if they included Minimus initially with Magnus because they knew they could do use that same feature for the powermaster Prime? If the mold had never been intended to be released as Powermaster Prime as well, I wonder if Minimus would actually have been included.

Eh, it could be a bit better. Besides, do we really need to settle for only 1 Arcee figure in 32 years of Transformers? Plus, that one was tail end charlie to the line, so a lot of stores never got her. I only got her cause I found her still at BBTS with chromia in a 2-pack.

But I prefer new molds. If a character gets a few different molds, that also means that more people can have that character and also they can choose if one better fits their style

How is it cheaper? The least I've found him for online is 212 USD, and that's not even counting the inevitable upgrades I'll probably get for them such as a new Hook crane. Platinum edition sets are known for going on sale, so I should be good.

He was going for $180 shipped when he first came out, but it must now be aftermarket, or you are not looking at the cheapest options. Plus, why go Unite warriors if you are going to buy upgrades? Better to get hasbro and use the upgrades since that will make it more worth it.

And honestly, Given we have a more cybertronian Blurr coming out plus a potential Kup and Hot Rod and Magnus is still on sale for far cheaper than that platinum set would sell him for, I think it is better to just go with buying the individuals rather than the platinum, especially since you already have Springer. You even said it yourself that TR Blurr is an awesome figure, and I agree and have every intention of picking him up

I have contemplated the idea of getting Hasbro Devastator, but I can't seem to let go the extra articulation on Takara's. Why am I so hard on myself?

And one reason I like that Platinum set is because of all the metallic paint. I love Springer's paint scheme in that set too, and would actually love to get one of those, and repaint my old Springer into SillySpringer. I'll decide for certain later but, that set really appeals to me. It also gives me a chance to get a lot of other figures first without worrying about the older figures getting even rarer.

Here's my opinion to throw in the pile; anyone that's traditionally a "____master" is good for me. So while I was initially against the idea of, say for example, Scourge being a Headmaster instead of a Targetmaster, it's actually beginning to warm up to me enough to where I'm convinced to sell my Generations Deluxe from way back when and replace him with this one. It doesn't bother me now because I realized I never displayed the one Targetmaster partner I own (Nightstick from 2008's Cyclonus) in robot mode at the same time his bigger partner was in robot mode, and I would only display him in robot mode if the big guy was in vehicle mode.

As for guys like Galvatron, I was and still sorta am against him being a Headmaster, but only for IDW's canonicity's sake. He's loads better than 2008's Galvy, and better scaled, so that works for me! Sentinel Prime also gets a pass since this is technical first figure that actually looks like him. Astrotrain's got the same pass that Galvy's got. Still need some convincing on Alpha Trion...

Got to page 192 and realized it would take a few hours to get through the rest of this so I'm going to make a few observations that may have already been made, but here goes:

Triggerhappy has yet another gun shaped somewhat like Blowpipe under his left wing. Also, does he look like Saber to anyone else? Looks like the front of the alt mode comes off just like the Saber figures (any of them) to make a shield and TM vehicle so maybe... The window chest wouldn't be accurate, but how often are these homages accurate anyway?

Doublecross in dragon mode has a double barreled gun on his back more like Grotusque's than his own. Future retool? Could work from the waist down since they have similar alt mode legs.

In the group image with Hot Rod it says "Titan Wars" like we saw back at Botcon 2015. These figures seem like they'd be too far along in production to still be using that accidentally. The S' is probably spring or summer so maybe the third part of the trilogy is more Titan Masters? Weren't people saying Titans Return would be a short portion of the trilogy?

The Voyagers have foil labels, hopefully pre-applied and not just options.

Not a big fan of Prime's antennas/ears/whatever making his head so wide, they did better with the things on the side of Megatron's head. And is it me or does Megatron have a really big and detailed face for a Titan Master? Compare it to Brainstorm and it's like an entirely different toy line. It's practically Megatron's entire head on the back of a Titan Master.

I don't know if this was answered, but did seem where someone was skeptical of the Sixshot art because it wasn't as detailed as the art we've seen for other figures. I just want to point out that Fortress Maximus also had his line art shown in both simple (like Sixshot) and super detailed forms so the precedence exists.

it's still kinda cool, I mean the throttle bots haven't had updates yet and it's also a bumblebee repaint that's not cliffjumper. That doesn't happen too often.

Dayum, at this rate we'll know of every figure in the Titans Return range before wave 1 even comes out! I wouldn't be surprised if the official name of the "Prime Wars 3" toyline is leaked by the end of this year.

I'm interested in seeing what alt mode Perceptor will have, I'm guessing it will probably be the traditional G1 microscope, but I wouldn't mind another emergency SUV similar to Animated or Reveal the Shield (if this turns out to be the case, fingers crossed it gets retooled into the Generations Ratchet I've been hoping for since 2013). I don't read More Than Meets The Eye so I don't know much about Nautica as a character, but I like her design and I look forward to seeing what the figure looks like.

Yes but she was an extensive retooling of a figure from several years before, and that mold was only used as her and Arcee in 2 different styles. This mold will supposedly have been used 3 times in a year in 3 different toolings. To me, it's a case of Silverbolt, Cyclonus and UW Scattershot: the same mold, despite retooling, will get boring after a second use. It's the same skeleton. I want a different skeleton. 3 times in around a year is too much. It's boring and shows a lack of creativity.

I don't think it shows a lack of creativity at all. Quite the contrary actually, it takes a lot to imagine two or more characters out of the same base that still look and feel different. Plus with the amount of new molds in this line I'm sure we can swallow the few remolds and repaints they're throwing at us. Not including what we haven't physically seen yet there's 20 brand new molds and only 9 reuses. That's a lot more variety than we got with combiner wars and that's only three waves worth of figures not including titan masters.

I'm partly just messing with you teal_your_goats, but I do want to say that a lot of the rumours have been speculative and that speculative aspect has been really hit or miss, like the example I just put forth.

While the size thing wasn't true the Takara versions do come with the extra figure so it wasn't totally false. For all we know the original designs could've called for them to be paired together but they decided to part it out.
