They said it a few times at conventions and the like. Its because they dont want to stay stuck to the past. If they call them headmasters then they are kind of stuck with that and thus also keep target masters like that ect. But by giving them a new name, they can now give that name to other characters which werent headmasters before because the headmaster term itself no longer exists for this line. So all those small robots are titan masters. Also, it helps distinguish who the little robot is. In G1 both Chromedome and the little robot that was his head were called Headmasters. At least Titan Master only applies to the small robot this time.

I get that but if they don't want to be stuck to the past, they could have made the gimmick itself more different. If not mechanically then, like I say, conceptually. If they'd been called Titan Bandits or Titan Heisters or something, it wouldn't feel as much of a retread. Maybe if they'd packaged the deluxes with the TM figures and vice versa. So Scourge comes with Grimlock's head and Blurr comes with Apeface's head and the gimmick of the line is that, by default, everyone's heads are scrambled and you can unscramble them through play, that would be different.

I wondered about that. I could see no practical use for opening of the chest. I wondered if it was pretooling for beast combiners. Also, is it just me, or does WW's chest piece look like painted die cast? (I don't think it is, but I cannot tell for sure...)
I had the thought today in my office that it, and the chest on Highbrow might be for some pretool

Wait, have the beast combiners been officially confirmed? I know they have been rumored, but I haven't heard of it being confirmed.

If I understand it right they are different. In G1 both the Transformer and the head could take turns controlling the bodies and share their thoughts. With Titans Return the head is just along for the ride, but the Transformer benefits by getting additional abilities from a Titan Master such as enhanced speed from Hyperfire or berserker rage from Crashbash making head swapping more tactical.
Of course the Japanese line basically kept things the same between then and now with the little guy being the same character as the big guy (though some of the little guys don't have big bodies of their own).

Shockwave? That's interesting, if only because his face is one of the ones that would work the least for headmasters.

Rumours - More Upcoming Transformers Titans Return Products
- Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
Once more via Seibertronian Autobot N and their eagle eyes, we have another list of rumours for the Titans Return line - apparently 'confirmed' by the Hasbro systems according to TFW2005 member Rogerwang1985. This is all added to the previous rumours we reported on here, and we've highlighted the newer new figures in this supposed list. Check it out, grab your salt bags, and speculate away!

We've known about Triggerhappy for months - and it was even seen on the back of packaging at an official con - and the duocons were in the last leak.
Pretty sure we knew about Cloudraker and Fastlane from a podcast leak too. And I think Searchlight was already rumoured but it might have been Chase; the throttlebots always blend into each to me. Can never tell them apart.
