Transformers repurposed as pre Beast Mode figures
Which Transformer toys would make good pre Beast Mode or Beast Wars figures?
The 2006 Botcon Pre Beast Wars figures are awesome. And the new ones are interesting.
Dark Steel is a vehicle form/homage for Quickstrike.
DOTM Airraid is Cybershark, Stingray749 found that one: things-your-transformers-can-do-that-you-never-realised-t67369s1530.php
Animated Blurr became Cheetor
This gets talked about in a number of different forums but I wanted to hear some more of your thoughts and to consolidate them. Here are some that I thought would work:
DOTM Skyhammer – Silverbolt
As soon as I saw Skyhammer I thought he looked like Silverbolt. Ubertenorman thought the same thing and did a nice custom paint: dotm-classics-bw-silverbolt-t81502.php
Depth Charge – Sea Spray HFTD
Prowl Owl Black – Tomahawk HFTD
Terrorsaur – Thrust Generations (color, his TM2 mode has wing fans like Thrust)
Ravage from BW CG cartoon, not Ravage from his toys – Vehicon PRID (black, sleek, stealthy)
Antagony – Crankcase DOTM
Skyshadow Fuzor – Obsidian BM
Magmatron – Tidal Wave
What others have you seen or thought of? I would love to hear and see them. Any Beast Wars figures or any Beast Mode figure from a different line.

Re: Transformers as pre Beast Mode figures
I think Prime Knock Out is a lot closer to Terrorsaur.
Like the idea of Tidal Wave as Magmatron, wouldn't mind that as a repaint.

assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

Even better than Knock Out that we have now would be Beast Hunters Starscream. Someone even did a digibash and it looks FANTASTIC in Terrorsaur's colors, even if it looks horrifically bad in the current deco.

Also, Tidal Wave does seem like he'd be a very appropriate choice.

Yeah, Beast Hunters Starscream is a great fit, robot mode has a lot more similarities to Terrorsaur.

I always thought that HFTD Terradive would be a good pre-BW Terrasaur if given a red colour scheme.

definitely, and BH Starscream looks good, but I still say KnockOut is the best candidate without doing any customisation work. BH Ratchet looks like a pretty clear Dinobot homage, so he'd probably be a good pic if you can't get the Botcon version. The colourscheme isn't anywhere near it, but PCC Sledge gives me a decidedly BW Scorpanok vibe in robot mode.

Knockout is a excellent match – the colors, the angles, the face, the head crest. Solid match.

This is a cool thread. I would say Universe Blades would be a good prebeast mode for Inferno (who, as a protoform, used to be a good guy).
But I did want to mention something about Ravage. Ravage from the Beast Wars cartoon IS G1 Ravage. In fact, he still transforms into a casette after all these years and maintained his size as well. The only difference is that after a few millenia, he eventually walked upright instead of on all fours. But it is the same ravage and he didnt have a previous alt mode than simply a cesette.

Thanks. Universe Blades would make a good Inferno. Nice call there.
Re: Ravage – All completely true. I am good with this added note, thank you and no offense taken on my part. For my part I did remember, though, I could see how that was unclear. I was trying to specify look. Rumble and Frenzy received new alt modes in the United toy line. I guess that I was going for look and feel, and like the Generations line where new updates that are true to the character but different modes or look are acceptable.

Terrorsaur - War Within Thrust
Ravage - Battle Ravage
Inferno - Movie Dart if he had an earth mode before beast wars otherwise the red Scrapmetal
Completely agree with Tidal Wave for Magmatron

Perfect, this has been one of the more recent stretches I've made to justify keeping figures I've bought on impulse. As mentioned, BH Ratchet is being Dinobot - BH Bulkhead is my Rhinox and ROTF(?) Nightbeat is my Packrat, or Rat-Trap. Probably Packrat seing as he's managed to steal the great detective's name and number-plate
. On the other side, and now I'm really stretching, yellow Scrapmetal is being Tarantulas with a red KO of Machine Wars Thundercracker absorbing the brunt of the daftness as Terrorsaur.
Also, I'm keeping Prime Dead End and calling it Quickstrike.
I meant to say thanks to the OP, I've been sort of wanting a Silverbolt and wanting a character for Skyhammer. When I read that it made so much sense I felt stupid

Dude! I love your choices! They make perfect sense. How fun and exciting.
Dude that is perfect. Good reasoning as well, very solid, and funny.
Wow. Respect. That works great. I never saw it before, but the body shape, low alt mode, swords, green, face, all really work.
Thanks. I’m glad you posted your excellent ideas. It is funny, if there isn’t an exact homage element, then sometimes the similarities don’t call out enough to make the connection. Yeah, Skyhammer fits for Silverbolt in so many ways. The custom paint job is beautiful, but certainly isn’t necessary, the retail colors look great for a Silverbolt repurpose.
Windsweeper, very cool choices. I definitely like the Ravage choice.
I wonder when things are just a coincidence, when they are created similarly but subconsciously, when there are only so many possibilities, and when designers do things on purpose, either as a recycle – intentionally using certain elements (not to reference an earlier character or design, but just as a cool element), or as an intentional homage, or update, or reuse of a character.

Well, I've had Skyhammer for almost a year (£6.49 in TRU, I wasn't leaving it there) and only tonight have I been inspired to open him up. I don't believe there is no deliberate homaging here, I can't see him as anyone else, he's leaking Silverboltness. In other news, I'm currently auditioning '07 movie Stockade for Optimus.
