Yeah, I've tried that trick too, but I still rethink everything a couple of hours later. It looks like I will eventually end up with both.
Sigh.

If I had to choose? I t would be Soundwave. There's nostalgia for me (Soundwave was my first Transformer, if I remember correctly), the aforementioned way I think Soundwave represents Transformers better, the little dudes (so many little dudes in the Hasbro release!), and I liked Soundwave so much I bought him twice - I have the Takara and Hasbro versions. Only got the Hasbro version of OP, though.

Re: The Masterpiece Debacle - Optimus vs Soundwave
If I were you, I will choose Soundwave. Well, probably like you, I'm not into MP line and the only MP I own is Grimlock. If I want to pick only one between these two, I will go with Soundwave. Reason? Soundwave is doing very well standing along. But Prime, I feel he is not complete without a proper Megatron.

To be fair, I only noticed when looking for pics of the kibble yesterday, I came across this pic

Till then I thought it was kinda annoying myself

Thank you, you've fixed the one teeny tiny little problem I had with Soundwave! Now he is as perfect as OptimusDead Metal wrote:Mykltron wrote:Dead Metal wrote:Not really sure I would count it as kibble though, since it mimicks the leg design of the G1 toy.

I like G1 Soundwave's alt mode better then MP Soundwaves if that says anything. I can't say the same about MP OP.

Seriously?

I've got my MP Prime in a dynamic pose with his gun and his axe really easily. In fact the only real problem with MP-10 is that his axe easily comes loose from the hand mount.

Weird, lot has changed in the time I was gone, because before I left that was one of the main things people complained about MP 10, the legs being so fat, specifically on the sides with the chambers hiding his wheels.
Back then it looked like I was the only one who didn't call murder on them. And then of course there where the people who hated the toy because the alt-mode wasn't a perfect model truck.
So it was more of a joke and not actually me finding a fault on Optimus.

Well if you're worried about money, let me put it this way - financial experts are predicting the complete disintegration of the global financial system in the coming weeks and at latest months, meaning that money is about to become worthless, so just bite the bullet and get them all

It appears I may be able to purchase an MP Optimus Prime for £40 (~$60) in the very near future, thanks to clearance sales and staff discount from TRU. At that price, I'm biting.

If I absolutely had to pick one, it would be Soundwave. At that price though, you might as well get both. They are both amazing figures.

My advice is to get in on the action with the cars next HLJ preorder- it'll cost you the price of a Voyager (30.94 quid) plus a few quid in shipping.

Seriously, I don't care about the cars.
I might end up getting both Optimus and Soundwave, but I have no interest at all in any of the other ones.

I remember people complaining that he had duck feet when the Takara MP 10 came out. But when the Hasbro-Masterpiece OP came out it's the best OP ever created! cause he has painted eyes and people didn't care about the duck feet anymore?

Va'al, for me the answer is simple. It's Soundwave, hands down.
But, crucially, not because of Soundwave himself.
Because I like putting Laserbeak or Buzzsaw on my desktop so he can peer down at me on my desk. Because I like having the various cassetticons around to play with.
So you must ask yourself this: do you intend to play with the figure, or merely display it?
If you want to display it, my answer is definitively Optimus Prime. You cannot get more iconic than the Autobot leader, and while his trailer may seem like a bulky addition, it really fits into the background when you can have a suitably sized Deluxe/Voyager Autobot ally rolling out the back in your display. Optimus may be too large to scale perfectly with the Classics figures, but with a select few his trailer can be an asset.
Soundwave, for my money, is not too terribly fun to play with on his own. His strength in display is derived from the integration with his minions, with Laserbeak perched on his arm and his finger primed to release another cassette. What truly makes Soundwave fun to use are the minions, whom I love to play with and enjoy keeping around.
So, Va'al... more than what we fellow Seibertronians would select, more than whatever faction symbol you swear allegiance too... what do you want your figure to do?
