I wish there were more Legends figures that turned into weapons for the combiners. We have Powerglide and Bombshell, with the Rattler coming. Maybe a shield or close combat weapon for Superion. Or perhaps something that interacts with him the way Blackjack does, forming an addition to the combiner beyond a weapon. It seems a shame that Menasor will have access to more stuff than Superion. At least Defensor has a chest armor figure like Menasor.

Menasor doesn't need Blackjack to be complete. His existing armor is molded and painted to evoke the roller car in the first place. But the option to add Blackjack is there. Superion is lacking options.

I wonder if Groove could be configured into more of a shield for Defensor rather than a chest piece.

Yeah, a Deluxe Powerglide is sorely needed on the official front. 3rd party's covered it, but Hasbro needs to put one out. I'm not sure why Bumblebee is the only Minicar/Minibot to fully receive Deluxe upsizing, but the others could use a shot at it too. I know Warpath got lucky, but the rest continue getting left out. You know who'd make a killer Deluxe? Brawn.

Brawn deserves an upgrade.

I'm not OPPOSED to legends as weapons... but I really haven't liked the results we've gotten so far. I picked up powerglide and bombshell, and their weapon mode is a stylistic nightmare... Powerglide looks punier then Superion's already massive gun, side turrets and fist/knuckle blasters... and Bombshell I'm still not 100% is meant to look like weapon. it may PASS as one... but ehhhhhh not a very cool one.


Maybe if wielded by Silverbolt or Prime sized people it may look better, but by the big bots... I wish it was something a bit more epic.

This is something I'm still getting a handle on. Is there a specific reason for this?

I'll admit a bit of confusion when it comes to the legends/deluxe choices. Seems to play havoc with scale in a franchise notorious for being bad with scale.

Personally I don't see a problem with some of the 'mini-bots' getting an upgrade to look more like they probably should.. Having a Brawn or Huffer standing as tall as the prowls and jazz's don't seem inherently 'wrong' to me..

It's very weird seeing a legends Thundercracker and leader class Thundercracker and supposed deluxe thundercrakers... Is there some sort of in-universe reason for this... or is it just the toy companies wanting to have familiar toys in all the price ranges?

I just wanna pull my nerd out to say, technicly he's not new or added. He has always been there. The G1 toy had him. Your theory works nicely there too. Instead of being a filler piece to cover up some empty space.

If your gonna fight with a sword, you gotta have an armor boost.

Maybe we could look at it as if the roller car was just armor, much like the combiner kibble on Bruticus and Defensor, but in the form of a litle drone. Current Menasor has that armor, in the form of the chest panels.

This could be seen as a modernization of Motormaster's design in general, giving him a more compact shape with fewer separate parts. That effectively makes him more efficient and quicker to combine, and maneuver in vehicle mode.

BJ serves as armor and a shield generator, seeing as he is a separate robot, with a functional spark, that could feed the shield the energy it needs without compromising the power used to keep Menasor together and in motion.

That way, you turn an unstable berserker into an unstoppable berserker, and everybody wins! (Except for the Autobots, who later may notice the advantages of this technology and use it on one of their own Combiners, in this case, Defensor.)

Or that he wasn't a Legends-size figure like all of the other smaller G1 characters. Had they made Menasor's chest transform in a way that looked cleaner, people would have complained that he didn't come with the roller car like the original.

Never underestimate the ability of the fandom to find something to bitch about. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they had released Powerglide as a limb that people would have complained that Hasbro didn't take the opportunity to make a helicopter character rather than shoehorning a character that was never an Aerialbot into the team.

Anyway, just from my own collection and off the top of my head, Cliffjumper also has deluxe figures. Grated, this is often because they are repaints of Bumblebee, but they exist.


(Granted, mine is augmented with a little third party help to assist him in looking a little less Bumblebee-ish, but if this figure was made today, Hasbro is much better about providing alternate head sculpts.)

As for Powerglide, if Legends is too small for you, it goes a bit beyond Deluxe, but Hasbro has ya' covered there, as well!



(Personally, though, I'm loving the new Legends class one! And if the weapon mode doesn't do it for you, well, it doesn't really impact either of the other modes at all. So you can ignore it and still have an awesome figure.)

Can't help you on Brawn, alas. If you want larger than Legends, I think you'd have to go third party. But me, until Hasbro themselves does something bigger, I am happy with this guy:

I saw it more as him admitting that. It's not like its a behaviour changing revelation. More like judging everything including oneself.

I've got a hand and foot set coming using my MP-13 hand design for each combiner, as well as upgrade kits for each one that fix things like skinny legs and hollow hips. All for a fraction of the price as the PE stuff...

There's no question people would have complained about Powerglide replacing Slingshot, primarily because Slingshot was the most developed character in the cartoon. I remember one particular episode quite well where Slingshot went undercover almost by himself (Fireflight tagged along) to uncover a smuggling ring. In that episode he went from being a total a-hole to showing he had some heart after all and made friends with a kid along the way.

But I'm talking about this from an engineering standpoint. I like Alpha Bravo as an option, but I see him more as an option to make Energon Optimus Super Mode along with the eventual release (and likely secondary retool) of Nosecone. What I see in PG is a figure that could share the same leg engineering, nosecone engineering, combiner peg with head attached engineering as the other Aerialbots, but with his wings and arms more naturally staying out of the way for combiner mode because of how they transform in both alt and robot modes.

PG would have made a slick limb, be it for Superion or Ultra Prime, doesn't matter to me. And I hope Hasbro realizes this and does in next year anyway.

As for Menasor, I think he looks terrible with the chest open, and terrible with the chest closed. I also think he looks terrible because he has no waist. That's why I'm not getting him, and that's why I'm not planning to update my Optimus Prime, either. Although I might be interested in that white version of Prime even with all of the mold's faults, but I probably won't get it. I'd rather save for Megatron and/or Ultra Magnus if there are great sales in the fall.

And speaking of Megatron, I wish Hasbro would release a camouflage version of ol' Bucket Head as homage to one of his G2 tank paint schemes.

Unfortunately for me, a camouflage Megatron will probably be an expensive exclusive.

My order says they were expected ship today, but I guess I am pretty impatient.
