It wasn't hell, really. It was just tedious because I've been doing things like this for a while and am always working on multiple projects. Only recently have I joined Seibertron forums specifically to satisfy my TF cravings because I've been so busy focusing on other 3D arts.
Below are some back pics. I need to explain about that a bit. Basically the top roof parts are glued together into one piece and the plan was to saw it all into several pieces so I could glue very thin vinyl hinges that would hold them all together and during transformation, would "wrap" around themselves and fit underneath the front window when the rear T-bar folds up. In the end, I COULD have done it, but the space alloted to me after car transformation is about 1mm and with all the hinges in place, that amounts to about 2-2.5mm... you do the math.
So basically, the rooftop is detachable but can still be reattached or even kept on during car form to robot form. The end effect was to be able to preserve the rear wings that BB really has. The rooftop folds up and disappears into the back anyway, so I thought eh~ no biggie. I got time, maybe I'll work on that later.

Maybe show it off at Botcon 2008?
I'll probably complete the rooftop transform at some point if I manage to "skin" the rooftop innards a bit to allow about .5mm of extra space for the hinges... it's a very tight fit, but it can be done. Gotta be accurate, you know. haha
One for the team! Hut one! Hut two!
