If Hasbro is gonna release him without the trailer... wait, if I got both the Japanese and US versions just to have Rodimus Prime and Hot Rod, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having him transform between both forms? :-?

Not if you want to display him in robot and vehicle mode at the same time.

Does anyone else notice that the way the car and trailer combine is backwards. If you look carefully, the back of the car mode is the front of the trailer mode. The front wheels of the "semi" have the round shoulders of hot rod, or the back wheels of the car. You just flip the back fin up, turn it around, and the trailer has a shell that comes down over the entire thing, making a false front of the "semi" mode.

It's an interesting design but I thing I would have liked it better if the car went in side the trailer more like the original. Still a win in my opinion.

You aren't missing much. Besides the head, the only difference I can find is that RP's hip-leg joints are slid down furthur on his hups. You see the swivel in his legs? It's lower than it is on Rod.

Not that I'm complaining, b/c I think it's the best MP figure so far, but I wish the wing was raised higher up in Rodimus Prime, er, Rodimus Convoy, robot mode (as w/ the G1 toy), b/c it is kinda difficult to tell them apart.

simple? the paint details are just as accurate (if not more so) than previous MPs, and it's a hell of an achievement that this one toy accurately represents two different G1 toys, along with their animated counterparts. I've waited for Hasbro for Prime and (still waiting for) Grimlock, but I'm tempted to import this one. I really only want the Hot Rod version, but can't imagine anything else looking quite that shiny.

Rodimus' face looks like "hung-over Hot Rod" though.

They did an absolutely great job. I can't think of any improvements to make other than one. The long hole on the top of Rodimus's truck mode does look just like the cartoon I grew up with. But I always hated that it had a stupid hole on the top that seemed more like a poor design concession for a toy than a cartoon "streamlined" concept that it was supposed to be. The toy did not have that. I remember I think on The Return of Optimus Prime seeing that hole. Why incorporate that?

Other than that it looks like a dream come true. I will be getting the less expensive version when it is available.

Not to take away from Romimus' long awaited day in the sun (I admit the original toy sucked and I had him as my leader for two years, ugh), but I still hope to see Galvatron, Arcee, Kup, Cyclonus, Scourge, the Quintessons, Blur, etc.

I especially would love to finally see an MP Arcee with Headmaster Daniel complete with triple changer exosuit which has vehicle mode, arm guns mode and Arcee head mode with opening helmet revealing Daniel. Then I will die a completed TF fan.

May you live a long and happy life. Hasbro/Takara/Tomy/The Elves in Santa's Workshop/Primus/etc hasn't even bothered to do a half-assed Deluxe Class version of Arcee as she appeared in the movie, let alone a Headmaster version complete with Daniel in Exo-suit. I'd love it too (if only for "give me the key" interrogation scenes :lol:

) but it seems...unlikely at present.

Judging from that pic, it looks like Rodimus is the size of Grimlock, which makes the Hot Rod form in scale to Optimus, but the Rodimus Prime form is smaller. I guess it's a gag to Rodimus' self confidence, but still it would be nice to see an MP on his size again.

As much as peole like Rodimus, I personally wish we had gotten a Masterpeice Soundwave or Shockwave WAY before I would have asked for a Rodimus.

His legs extend at the knees, the hips, his wing folds in a bit, his face changes, and it's assumed that his arms are repositioned kinda like Animated Shockwave's were.

These pictures don't have the same impact as holding it in your hands will. I'll bet you that we'll all be able to see a rather noticeable difference once in hand.
