Ehh, its interesting but I'm quite happy with the original. I think they could have gone without the cigar/cygar but what the hell do I know. I am curious what they will be asking for this interesting piece and I wonder if the paint apps will be compatible with Generations or E-hobby Kup? And that touch on "Hannibal" is pretty damn funny...'nuff said

These comic book writers come up with some bizzare stuff. Maybe if it was like a blunt it would have made a cool gag novelty.

There's actually a really good in story reason for him to constantly be chomping on that cygar. The first time I saw him with it I thought it was silly, but after reading the back story it makes sense and makes for a really cool plot device.

While the head looks nice and is sure to be a great collectors item, with these third party companies making tf products, one has to wonder if the probable creator of this version of Kup's head, Nick Roche, is getting paid for this? I really doubt so. If he were, it'd be a wonderful thing that would encourage creators of the tf brand to continue to be more creative rather than making it without going through the proper channels. While the 3rd party products are really exciting and interesting, one has to wonder if there has to be a better way?

Oh my gosh, definitely need to get one of those! Fantastic sculpting on that! Really makes him look like Kup for me, so i'm pretty sold. Just hope the finished product isn't hard to get.

For those of you that wish this didn't have the cygar. The cygar is the whole point.
I like Kup's IDW story. Plus I'm struggling to get a team assembled, and what they really need right now is a cigar smoking veteran.

No, Nick Roche isn't getting paid for it. See, the problem is that there are no official channels to get 3rd Party Transformers products made. If somebody has an idea for one and sent it in to Hasbro, at best they'd get a form letter thanking them for their interest in the brand and a "make sure to check out our new Power Core Combiners!" It's especially true of a product like this as any official approval by Hasbro would have some concerned mothers group or even those "Truth" lunatics on their asses so fast it would never see the light of day.

Honestly, I don't like iGear. I have a problem with the fact that they literally take MPs reduce them to 50% size and act like it's a wholly original product. To me there's no difference between that and the bad Superion KO's they put in those $5 Easter baskets. At least with this, someone at iGear actually made it. Plus it saves me from having to do it.

iGear just updated their Facebook page with a test video of the transformation with the new head attached. I would post a link to the YouTube clip, but I'm on my Android and it's giving me fits at the moment. I'll try to get the link posted shortly.

Since their replacement MP Prime head is $18.00 shipped, then I suspect this should be cheaper since the head is smaller.

The pre-order is up and they released some more info. It'll cost you $12.00 with free shipping, the release date is 03/20/11, and you'll actually get two heads. One with cygar and one without with slightly different expression. Here's a link to the pre-order page.

Thanks to our tenacious site member El Duque for updating us on the latest news on third party toymaker iGear's deluxe Kup head upgrade, now called Kup01. According to the update, the set will include not one, but two heads for your deluxe RTS/United Kup figure: one with the "cygar" and one without. The set is expected to be released in mid-March (listed as March 20th) and will cost 12.99 which includes free shipping. While we still haven't see the final, colored versions of these heads, iGear has added a few new teaser images of the prototype to their site which have been mirrored below.
