HK-TF member lowbcousin is once again shared his haul, this time it is the upcoming Takara version of Transformers United UN-22 Laser Optimus Prime.

There are some paint differences compare to Hasbro's Reveal The Shield Optimus Prime (G2) version, such as mainly black and red colour for the alternate mode, printed red colour Autobot logo, blue colour window, blue colour sword etc.

It's cool but not 40 dollar cool. Most of the difference is in truck mode. And who's gonna display him in that truck mode ??? I bought the Hasbro Prime and ordered United Wreck Gar who has paint differences in robot mode that resemble the G1 movie.

Ah, the ONLY United I will shell out for. Hasbro stank up the place with the RtS paintjob, he looked like he was in an accident and got parts replaced.

Has there been any word since that teaser of an upgrade set with a new head and stuff?

That's "Laser Optimus Prime" (Reizaa Oputimasu Puraimu). And the Hasbro version is just "Optimus Prime". The "G2" prefix isn't present in the (official) name of either version.

Since you insist it, the title and news changed to Laser Optimus Prime.
As for Hasbro RTS version, Ryan included the G2 just not confuse the browser for the gallery....

Exactly what I've been thinking about them. Had Takara chosen a deeper blue this would be an easier decision. However, getting both will mean having at least four different versions of this mold, due to the inevitable black repaint and that head retool we saw awhile back, so I feel I should compromise and only get one of the two Primes. The question is, which one?

It pays being a Prime nut, doesn't it? United goes to the honorary Prime shelf, RtS to my extended Universe 2003 shelf

Looks a lot nicer than the RTS version, but I won't be buying this mold until there's a Nemesis Prime/Black Convoy repaint. And it better not be some ridiculous Japanese exclusive.

I'm with Rated X, it's cool but it's not $40 cool. I may still get Hasbro's version simply because I still have a proper can of the appropriate blue paint to make it all consistent and I may yet do some further modding with it aside from color. I'm just still blown away by the fact that someone at Hasbro actually thought that 2-tone train wreck of an idea was worth making when we have proof right here that the single color with the flames is 1000 times better.

Much better than Hasbro's version. But forty bucks? I don't think so. Hasbro's version is more than good enough for me.
I can get four deluxes or two voyagers for his price.

I would, but since we got a G1 Scourge in recent lines already, there would be too much confusion.

I don't care what they call it, I just want this mold in black, grey and teal! :grin:

Well i guess I'm gonna have to pass considering I'm looking at RtS Prime on my shelf right now. I don't mind the mismatched paint on the truck, the only gripe I have are the painted on orange windows that look totally atrocious. He doesn't look so bad in robot mode though, I don't see a huge problem with the blue hands and feet. It's a decent mold but not the best, not the worst.
