Judging by the pincers, the visor-like optics and the color scheme, if it's not Shrapnel, then it's almost certainly based on him. I doubt he'll be named in the actual episode, but if we get a toy of him, I'd wager it'll be named Shrapnel.

No, I believe they fall in the arachnid category as they have 8 legs.

I don't believe that Hasbro has that name trademarked...and in the world we live in, given that there are a lot of people who are overly sensitive about such things and that there are a lot of war vets out there, I don't believe that Hasro would even consider using the name anymore.

Agreed. Definitely getting an Insecticon vibe, especially as hordes of them will be in the new FoC game- ideal for a tie in.

Interesting. I wonder if this will make toy form. I'd potentially buy it if it had G1-ish coloring. So far none of the contemporary Insecticons have piqued my interest.

so is he based off of Beast Wars insecticon or are they just calling him that cause hes an insect & a decepticon? I am glad that they didnt go with Shrapnel, Kickback & bombshell though, hate to see what they would look like in prime or bayformers.

I'm betting the individual insecticons have been kicked out of the new continuity. You know, like the Dinobots were supposed to be. Recently I've been thinking about what all the new continuity entails and I'm sad that they will be quarantining characters that they don't think fit into it.
But if we're lucky, I'd say some may still get names here and there (maybe named ones will appear in FoC), either in credits, toys, or, if they're around long enough, just fanon names, like Steve.
