Previously seen before at various online retailers, we have more official images of the second wave of Takara's Generations, Kickback, Starscream, Sideswipe, Ultra Magnus and Fireflight. Hasbro's Generations toys have been repainted into the caliber befitting Takara's toys; they feature the line's trademark metallic sheen. As for Fireflight, he has a completely different deco compared to his domestic counterpart.

I find it annoying that Hasbro has to Photoshop their toys to make them look like robots and Takara just uses paint. Oh well, pricey I guess, but worth it (for me).

The "Fireflight" trademark can't be used by Hasbro anymore, hence the name change. "Firestrike" is the substitute name, but I can see why Hasbro isn't using it for homaging G1 characters.

And Air Raid is looking gorgeous!

I like Starscream's metallic sheen.

Kickback's deco isn't much of an improvement, so still looking into getting the American release.

As much as I like that Ultra Magnus, I like me some Generation 1-cartoon accuracy, so... no contest.

If I am to get Sideswipe, it would only be for the gun to give Ultra Magnus when I get him. Therefore, pass for this release.

Fireflight is... questionable.

I still think the O Prime/U Magnus mold would make a pretty cool roadbuster but he needs a gattling gun or something big...

Decos look great. Not a fan of the foc vibe though, and I have an especially hard time with those enlarged legends class fists and legs of the shocky mold.

I love the blocky OP/Magnus toy, much more so as Magnus. The hot pink is questionable. I have the has bro version and he's cool. Shame he's so teeny tiny.

The Ultra Magnus and Sideswipe molds I flat-out don't like and while I do like the Shockwave mold, I've no interest in an Autobot version of it. I really like the looks of Kickback, but I've been really turned off by what Razorclaw0000 said about it on the Twincast. I'm definitely up for that Starscream mold, but not sure I want to spend Takara money on it.

Screamer looks freaking fantastic. Kickback is a massive improvement over his Hasbro alternative. So is Ultra Magnus. Shame he looks NOTHING like that in the game. Sideswipe looks like his eyes are still soulless. I hope that isn't the case. As for Air Raid or whoever, who cares? He doesn't resemble anyone in the game. Not sure why he always gets so much discussion. It's cool that the figure has remolded bits and a new head but he's not anything in either game. He hardly resembles any other iteration of the Aerialbots either. What am I missing?

I have to confess that I like how TOMY is handling their version of the Generations line. However, 2013 is going to be a focus on Takara/Takara Tomy Headmasters and Pretenders. So I guess that this will not be a 2013 series for me, which means one less series to focus on.

Oh... And for those disputing the "Fireflight" name, the only store that says it is Air Raid is Toy Hobby Market. However, BBTS and TFsource are two stores (as examples) that were informed that it would be Fireflight. So unless TOMY changed their mind, I will not be discussing nor disputing what name they originally announced.

I was never a fan of the shiny paint. IMO they would look nicer without the use of the shiny paint.

Interesting all around. UM is cool looking but I'm fine with the Hasbro version. The only thing I don't like about Hasbro's is the white tips on his feet...they should'a stayed blue. Kickback looks surprisingly bolder than Hasbro's...I may pick him up. Starscream I'm still on the fence about and I can't stand the face expression on Sideswipe, it just ain't right!!

Fireflight (just saying it for the hell of it ) on the other hand looks too damn bad to be good. I think I'll get this awesome repaint, re-name it making it an honorary .

Takaratomy's site, Toy Hobby Market, amazon.co.jp, e-Hobby and other Japanese stores all say エアレイド (eareido), Air Raid. English language stores have the tendency to stick with original announced names, BBTS especially is notorious for faulty translations. However, ToyArena has it listed as Air Raid, and Robot Kingdom has both names.

I couldn't disagree more. I have all of the figures from the last game and they're stunning in hand. Soundwave especially is so much nicer than the Hasbro version.
