It's Thanksgiving this weekend and while I was enjoying my Turkey dinner with my Mother and some friends, my step mom was nice enough to call me... from Vegas!

Seems rich uncle money bags ( my old man ) decided to take my step mom or "smom" out to see Bett Middler for her birthday.

So I get this call from my smom and she tells me she's at a toy store (found out it was a KB Toys) and wonders if there is anything I'd like. I says yes, as a matter of fact there are a few trinkets I wouldn't mind.

I asked her to start chiming off the ones she sees and I'll tell her what I would like her to pick me up. So after a good 12 mintues she's found Sentinal Prime, Swoop, Sideswipe, Ironhide, Silverstreak and Animated Ultra Magnus. I tell her that most of them should be around $10 or so (I'm a little out of the US price loop) and Magnus should be around $40.

She tells me that the store she's in is having a sale and that they deluxes are $5 and Magnus is $20! Booya!

God Damnit I love my parants. I'm 26, have a good job and a good head on my shoulders so there's really no reason they should have to spoil me like this but they do. I told her I'll pay her when they get back and to have a great time while they are there. I wished her a happy birthday and a happy Thanksgiving. She says "don't worry about it, consider these some early Christmas gifts"

She just bought me City Commander off BBTS and now all this. My parents really are the nicest people in the world and I feel really blessed by them.

This sort of thing ever happen to any of you?

Hang on a second, I'm still reeling from you getting $5 deluxes and a $20 Leader figure, I have to pay $25 for a deluxe...

Alright, anger contained for now :P

My parents arent so great on the uptake, but neither of them really venture into the shops (other than the Supermarket) on a regular basis. My Grandmother and Aunties however are always on the lookout for items for me, they don't buy me any items, just let me know what they remember seeing and where.

Sure cuts down on the time I would otherwise waste on looking for figures in stores that dont have them.

Well, it was nearing the release of the Movie last year. And then my brother calls & says there's a bunch of Movie figures & Robot Heroes at Wal-Mat. he asks if I'd like any & I said I'd like a few that he listed. When he & my grandma get home, they bring at least $250+ of TF merchandise. I was overwhelmed. I had enough TF's to take out of boxes & transform for a few good days. One of the few occasions I can actually say I love my brother.

I'd love a $20 TFA Magnus...*winks*

Your smom sounds really cool, to bad they all aren't that way.
Congrats on the haul and cool-as-hell parents!

Every year for the last few years my mom has taken me and my brother and sister to Toysrus and lets us pick out what we want. And she doesn't care how much we pick out. XD I always end up with 5-10 new TFs, most of which are voyagers.

And then my other family members never know what to get me, so they always ask which store they should get a giftcard from. XP I have a great family.

My parents helped me achieve nearly 70% of my G1 collection, which at my last count was over 150 figures.

My mum is awesome like that. Without my mother, my G1 collection wouldn't be quite as big as it is - she's always lending\paying for transformers when we're at 2nd hand shops. In fact, she once bought me G1 Bruticus (I already had the accessories) with most of the £40 she'd won on the lottery the day before. She is also knowledgeful enough to pick out a G1, check the condition, see if the price is fair and will generally know if I've already go it - I don't even have to be there!

A bit tragic at 24, but still pretty cool, and I do try and return gifts ect with gifts from myself, so I guess it levels out.

Your parents might be the bomb, but mine were the dumb. When I was a kid, my Grandma sent me a G1 Jetfire, I was so stoked. I come home from school, I find out the my mom gave my Jetfire to my little brother, who proceeded to break his arms off. I complained and she said that it was just a cheap toy, she could could replace it with ten of those if she liked. Months passed and she never did. A year later, I was able to get another Jetfire from my Grandma, though this was second hand but otherwise in good condition, and what do you know, it ends up at the hands of my brother again. It just isn't fair.

I would have been so pissed. My brother was never allowed to even go near my TF's.

My parents will usually call me if they ever see something outof the ordinary to see if I'm looking for it. They also got me MP-04 for Christmas a couple years ago. My Grandpa is also one of the reasons why my TF collection expanded like it did when I was little. He spoiled me.

My mum would often pick up Transformers from charity shops if she saw them, including G1 Blurr, BW Rampage and BW Optimal Optimus.

My dad, on the other hand, once saw me desperate to buy Afterburner but he recommended Rollbar instead owing to the lack of small losable accessories. Me being young and impressionable I complied and regretted it ever since. I still don't have Afterburner.

Last year, my wife and I brought my parents over to Taiwan for a couple weeks of vacation. My wife took my mum to get their hair done and while they were in the salon, my dad and I wandered around, just killing time. There just happened to be a local hobby shop I would frequently go to (originally for fairly priced Gundams, then for older Transformers when I switched hobbies) in the area, so I dragged my dad in with me to check out the Transformers.

So I'm checking out the Movie figures he's got when I notice that he's got both Bonecrusher and CC BB, both of whom I needed to finish off my Movie collection. I'd seen Bonecrusher once at a TRU and had yet to see CC BB anywhere at all. I was, quite naturally stoked. Then I noticed they were the Japanese versions and my heart sank. Despite our closeness distance-wise to Japan, Japanese releases are still quite pricey here in Taiwan. Bonecrusher was 699NT while BB was a whopping 799NT (the price of a US-version Voyager). I didn't quite have enough to get BB, so I picked up Bonecrusher and turned to pay. My dad asked me why I wasn't getting BB, since I'd just mentioned that I'd been looking for him for quite some time. I told him I didn't quite have enough cash with me and the shop owner didn't take credit card. So my dad picked up BB, put it in my hand and said "No worries, I'll get it for you". My dad rocks. Then, when I was showing my wife and mum what I had just got, my mum said "Oh, that's the one I had on pre-order from TRU for you. I guess I can cancel that order now." I had mentioned one time three months before hand that I was looking for BB, but hadn't found it.

Also, when I was a kid, no matter how tight we were for money, my mum always managed to have the money to get me Transformers. Somehow, she even managed to get me Powermaster Prime, despite us being barely able to pay the bills at the time, let alone buy toys.

I'm exactly like you Jonnald, except I'm 15. With the high prices of TF's in Aus I now focus my collecting on Star Wars and get Tf's rarely.

As I read this thread I realized that I am one of those parents!!

My son has all of Animated and pretty much any other cool looking TF we see in the store, since I want it just as much as he does.

I tend to go out and pick up any good Animated and Universe figure (passed on the movie stuff) and give it to him for the lamest of reasons. He got Voyager Lugnut because he got a good report card, and he's in freakin pre-school.

As long as he doesn't piss himself he gets a good report card in pre-school!! How hard is that!!
Check out my sales thread, plenty of Generations, and Reveal the Shield figures for sale!!
