So I had some time on my hands and an empty room so I dicided to pull all my TF boxes out of my closet and take a look at all i had packed away. Now i have over 100 TF on display on shelves in this room but i decided it was time to take an inventory. My Girlfriend decided to help and she whipped up a spread sheet and we started inventorying all i had collected since G1

I have to say thank Primus for http://www.TFU.info there were so many names I had forgotten it really helped me pin point 99% of the bots I had forgotten. When all was said and done including about 100 minicons i have 607 Transformers from most lines American and Japanese. To make it even worse last night i even added dollar amounts to each one to denote how much i approx. paid for each. with a excel formula it all added up to close to 10,000 dollars.

So my question is has anyone else gone to any lengths like this to inventory your collection?

Wow man, sounds like a nice one! My offical count including MISB, doubles and kitbashed/re-painted is 298.

Yes.

I made a massive spreadsheet about a year or so back which calculates MSRP, what I actually paid, and current worth. It runs all kinds of stats for each series and then for the collection as a whole.

I made it available to a lot of people last year when it was just starting out, but have kind of quit doing so.

Insurance makes me do crazy things.

One day I'll do this, but it's got to be nearing 1,000... That's TFs from every line (with limited G2, though) since G1, many of those lines nearly complete.

Insurance alone should make me want to do this sooner rather than later...

ok Question about insurance. DOes general home owners insurance cover a collection of "toys" or do you need to get a specialized insurance?

I've done spreadsheets for several toyline including Transformers ... and I have over 4000 transformers.

I think my collection is around 210 or so. I've thought about doing a spread sheet but I've never gotten around to it. I may end up doing a spreadsheet by the end of the week though, thanks to this thread. I'm interested to see how much my collection is worth.

I made a spread sheet this summer to calculate mine, but I haven't updated it in a month. Last time I checked, I had 453.

I have well over 2000 transformers as of last count. I'm probably at around the 3000 mark at this point, just don't have the time to count them all. I've been collecting for over 20 years though so it's not like they have all been bought at once, it's been a work in progress.

I have a spreadsheet for my TFs, about 195 or so, a few figures from each line.

If the missing word from the title is geek then I think it makes you a sensible geek!

It makes sense for insurance purposes and generally for keeping track of how much you've spent - I'm sure we've all had that horrible realisation of how much you've spent, which you can then try and keep under better control.

My lucky number is 173.

A spreadsheet is a good idea and something I need to do. Currently I have between 400 and 500 figures. I've been pretty selective about what I buy not a lot of filler figures.

My collection count is 100. Having checklists and an inventory of what you have is an excellent idea.

I did up a spreadsheet and took photos of each and every one for insurance purposes. I ended up with 2,000 TFs from G1 to present with a total value of $65,000. I would recommend doing the spreadsheet and taking photos just to insure the collection in case of any act of God.

I've been meaning to do this for a few years now. For 2 reasons,

First my collection really has grown since the movie line and classics. And second I just really like messing around with Excel.

Maybe I will make it next week. Oh and Guy, I like how you set yours up. I may have to steal parts of it.

Inventoried and photographed. I have a digital copy of my collection, a paper copy of my collection, and photographs in my safe deposit box at a bank. I update them biweekly. Since I'm finally off tomorrow, I'm finishing the paperwork on the insurance for the collection. I have over 1400 bots with a value of $20000. They currently occupy the spare bedroom, but my partner wants to turn that into a walk in closet/ironing room/utility room kinda thing, so we are going to finish the basement and set up a display room. I love my toys

I've got 63 in my not-for-sale collection. However, I do have over 100 in my for-sale-or-trade collection. :grin:

I've never gotten around to counting my TFs. I've tried to create a spreadsheet but never have been sucessful because I many customize or renamed TF so they'd fit into my continumm. I'd guestimate that I have 200 TFs.

I have a spreadsheet done up for my 700-800 Transformers. No prices though as I'd probably be physically sick were I to count the cost of 6 years of collecting.

Has it really been 6 years? So much has happened.

Haven't bought too many this year as not fond of the Movie or Animated aesthetic for the toys. Not fond of Classics either. shame really as I love the Movie and the Animated series. Huge G1 fan too but just not loving the toys of the last 2 years, especially with the awful Legends seemingly replacing the Basic size class which has been my favouite. Despise Robot Heroes, Actionmasters were much cooler.
