Which 3rd party Devastator would you recommend?
I'm curious because BBTS has Green Giant for a more reasonable price than before.

Hercules Hercules Hercules. Sure it costs more but you get what you pay for. The bots are beefier and not full of hollow limbs. Hercules Devastator just has more mass and looks way more imposing than that jolly green giant ho ho ho. Not too mention completely integrated kibble (well the hands are a little suspect at times).
If you were to order Herc from Robotkingdom the cost shipped to the U.S. is $542.47 while GG is 367.98 shipped with a difference of $174.99. But only if you can afford that difference.

Re: Which 3rd party Devastator would you recommend?
Herc is definitely bigger. Way bigger. I have neither, but personally find the Giant bots to look better both individually (alt modes are more realistic, although they do lack some of the functionality of the Herc ones) and combined. I like the look of the colours better as well. Price is a bit easier to swallow too.
BUT I'd definitely recommend that you look up some reviews of them both on youtube and other websites, and see which set appeals to you more. TJ Duckett aka Kuma Style Reviews has done some fairly in-depth comparisons between the two, and he's not the only one. Also there are a lot of reviews for each set on their own. See which YOU like better, and if Herc is the one you go for, you can always save up for a bit longer.

assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.

I'd like to see them compared. I'd also like to see them beside the original, just to see how much bigger they are.

I recommend you purchase which one you think looks better.
Both have very happy customers... just do a little research... look at some pics & watch a few YouTube reviews on each one. Then make up your own damn mind.

Re: Which 3rd party Devastator would you recommend?
I bought Herc when he first came out ... he's much more reasonable in price now and I regret pouncing on him.
The one scary thing about Herc is his hip joint. I haven't heard about the new one breaking, and I have the replacement which I applied lube too, but .... it's not something I'll ever test out. I feel it's appropriate to bring that up here.
Other than that Herc is awsome. There's a few different heads / faces for him by various people that give a different look. There are a few Shapeways kits too, none of which i have. He seems to have a lot more in the way of options if you like to augment your TFs. Personally, I really like the "Rage" configuration. Crazy Devy made a purple barrel if that's your thing (bought that as well). I plan to get the Reprolabes for him at some point because they also really seem to add to him.
Can't speak for Giant ... yet!

Herc all the way. Dont forget to pick up the Rage of Hercules set, Crazy Devy G1 head and purple barrel, and give him the full reprolabels treatment. You want the baddest Devy on the block ??? It's gonna cost an arm and a leg, but you wont be dissappointed.

lol... basically pay $600 for the figs & then buy $200 of upgrades. Don't forget to also purchase the shapeways upgrades to fix the poor positioning of the Rage of Herc upgrades... you'll have to paint them though & the quality blows. Where we at? Nearing about a grand?

Re: Which 3rd party Devastator would you recommend?
- Weapon: Indepentently Targetable Particle Beam Cannons
this topic has been a heated debate among the diehards since Giant was released...many many emotional pages of who thinks what is better and why.
my honest opinion is...there is no such true thing as one being better than the other. they both have strong points and weak points.
the question the OP should ask himself is...which fits his collection style better. would you prefer the giant scale of Herc compared to your other individual bots, or have him on scale with the rest of your FP Gestalts? do you personally like the individual/combined mode of Herc or Giant better, personally?
I picked up Herc bot by bot when he was first being released, before Giant was even a gleam in Maketoys' eye, and have never had a reason to be disappointed with the slot he fills among my other TF's as Devastator. Once Giant was released, I never thought to myself "should I have waited?". I was too excited, at the time of Herc, to have such a huge, awesome Not-Devastator to add to my shelves. Putting to much speculation on something like that can become habitual, and might cause you to miss something for your collection later. Such as with Uranos, the new Not-Predaking, or whatever...you will be thinking "should I jump on this one, or wait for a possible future better option?"...and end up missing the boat.
Personally, when I see something come along that I am excited about adding to fill a roster slot in my collection, I go for it. For instance, I had the Hasbron't version of deluxe Ironhide already...but when Weapons and Medical Specialist came out from igear, i jumped all over them both...Medical because I didnt have a Ratchet yet..and Weapons because he was just that much more awesome of an Ironhide. I just put deluxe classic Ironhide back into my "b squad" storage box.
I can see how cost can be a drawback here...fortunately I make very decent money so I can afford to be rather open handed with my toy collecting. But think about this: lets say you pass up on Uranos after the full set comes out, waiting for a more "Giant-y", less costly version to come out...only it never does. Now, no other options to add a decent Not-Superion to your collection roster (the Energon version with the FP addons are now long out of production and Uranos will probably sell out like Herc first did), and you are left without your aerialbots and a regret of never being able to fill that spot in your nostalgic hole.

I have yellow Giant and Herc. I haven't opened all of the Herc figures yet but I can say the individually I prefer the Giant toys.
I think Giant has better looking bot modes (Herc Scavenger has such horribly short legs, Bonecrusher is better but still not great). Obviously that's just my opinion. I find the Herc bots just too blocky, like G1 but even more so!
Giant has better alt modes. I don't think many would argue with this, except perhaps for Hook. Some of the Herc vehicles look really dumbed down.
Giant has better arm articulation. That said, it is possible to mistransform Herc so his has good shoulder articulation without those bots looking messy. I think Herc has better leg articulation but I haven't opened those figures yet.

I've had both, Giant is a much better representation, while Herc is massive,
His proportions are not right, and takes a lot to fix.

The G1 version keeps falling apart. Especially the Bonecrusher arm. I dont have the Crazydevy/X-Transbot add ons for G1 Devy. Did you want to see Herc side by side with G1 Devy without add ons ?

Group shot: Hercules with Rage add-ons, Yellow Giant, reissue G1 Devy, and the Universe Sixbuilder/Devy repaint.
As stated before, it's up to the individual buyer to decide which mold is right for their collection. If you have the ability, I recommend both Hercules and Giant. But for now, Giant hangs out on my Classics shelf and Hercules hangs out on my oversized figures shelf (Cybertron Starscream, Unicron, etc).

I see some people beat me to it. But heres my Herc with G1 Devy. I also took some size comparison shots of Herc and a few close ups to show how cool the Reprolabels look.
