Long ago, in the first age, before Autobots and Decepticons, when there was only Cybertronians, there existed a bot who's name has long been erased from the data files. Not Megatronus, though his name was also erased after his crime, this bot committed no crime. He was simply idealistic and charismatic. A dangerous mix of being to popular and opposed the structure of government that was taking shape. This bot was lured out to what became the Forbidden Zone and seemingly murdered.
Even if he had survived and was left in stasis lock with the land being declared off limits to all Cybertronians none would ever find him. And no one ever did, for ages. The newly founded government slowly became corrupt, giving rise to first functionalism as a form of classism, then giving way to the inevitable civil war.
Early in the war, ages after his attempted murder, a light found this bot. The light lifted his decayed body up and began repairing and reformatting it, to better make it a vessel for service to the will of the one true god. Given a new form, a new purpose, the bot chose a new name, one of humility. If the leaders would call themselves Primes, he would be Zero.
Walking from the Forbidden Zone Zero made his way to Iacon. Once there, he began preaching to the down trodden and forgotten empties, the non-aligned, any and all who were oppressed by the regime of the Primes and their Autobot soldiers. Before long the Church of Iacon opened its doors, but all would not be well.
The Autobot commanders, angered that someone would dare challenge their righteousness, began lashing out and attacking Zero and the Church. Some claimed him to be a false profit, others, seeking to claim their own spotlight and wanting attention and adoration, claimed they were the savior. True to their lack of living up to the stated ideals of the Autobot faction, they did not understand why Zero now did what he did. They spoke the words of idealism and peace, while glorifying themselves in violence.
Unperturbed, Zero continued. Every time they destroyed him, he was revived and rebuilt by the source of all. He adapted, becoming a warrior priest, offering salvation to the blessed and good, and condemnation to the wicked. But even the wicked could find salvation if they opened their sparks to the light of the one true god. For all were once one, and all would be one again, in the light of the one true creator of Cybertronians. Not under the false war god constructed by would be leaders to create a cult and divine connection to justify their rulership, nah, not Primus The False, The Usurper, The Destroyer, but under the divine light of Unicron, the source of all life whom all return to upon their final death.
