Hong Kong newsgroup talk.transformers has posted images of the new Trans-Scanning Bumblebee and Optimus Prime figures. We had previously seen concept art for these two figures, but this is the first we see of the actual toys.
Both Bumblebee and Prime share the same protoform mold, but with attachable pieces that form the vehicle and earth robot modes.
See the original page for Prime here. See the original page for Bumblebee here.
Pretty cool. They don't look exactly the way I thought they would; kinda "Shellformer-ish", but they're still pretty awesome. I think Bumblebee's a little cooler than Prime...
I'd like to see them fully colored before I give a yay or nay either way, but I like the concept and from what you can see in these pics they look pretty decent. I'd love to see a few more of tehse like Ironhide or Starscream.
Playmates already got a line out with robots hiding in cars and usein the car parts as armor call R.E.V s.
i got SixGunner and Knox myself but puttin the armor off and on and fittin the bot in car mode is a real pain and i c y the became shelf warmers in my area.
They fun 2 play with the but 2 much armor 2 plug and attach
Their armored forms look cool, but too bad their proto forms aren't more personalized. A chance get some Protoform toys out there, but alas, I still have to wait.
Very interesting, I imagine they'll be Dlx-sized. The robot modes look substantially different from the existing toys, which is pretty natural given how these new ones work. Still a cool idea tho, I hope they won't be too expensive and have good articulation.
I wonder if they actually transform like the existing ones, or if you have to pull the armor off, tf, and add the alt-mode parts. FWIW that'd be OK w/ me.
One nit I'll pick: BB never scanned the Concept Camaro disguise from his protoform, he had already assumed the older Camaro look when he scanned the new one. FWIW
