Generations Grimlock Being Remolded Into Beast Wars Megatron?

It appears one of Godzillabot's old digibashes from a few months back gave Hasbro a thought.

He doesn't really count as Transmetal Megs unless he's got the "ass-fan/bosters", does he?

I wouldn't get it because BW wasn't my thing.
I don't see a problem with it but after the outcry over Grimlock's hollow body and huge tail, I'd be surprised if they pursued this. Maybe as a Botcon exclusive.

Ass-fans? If you meant the intakes he can deploy in beast mode and robot mode, they were on his beast hips/robot back.

I dunno ... ugly mug like that has me thinking Dinobot a bit.

Makes me wonder how they would pull an Optimus Primal. Either new mold, or remold. Money's on the remold theory.

I can dig it. Might take some getting used to (even for me), as the body screams "bruiser" rather than "Machiavelli", but that head is badass. If this is true, I would hope for different weapons more reminiscent of Megs. Maybe they would go so far as to retool it enough for the dino head to be used as a hand gun, eh?

I remember someone calling ROTF Ravage's cannons "ass cannons", and on a whim, decided to call Transmetals Meg's boosters "ass-boosters." Not very suitable, in retrospect.

I naturally thought it would be Transmetals since his season one body was organic as opposed to mechanical.

Maybe the head will come off and clip to his hand. What would season 1 Megs be without a gigantic, bot crushing maw for a hand?

I still think the sword and shield should be bigger. I want to see some color images of this. Megatron was the only toy I ever liked from the Beast Wars toy line, so I may bite....

Actually, it doesn't. Both versions are equally prone to breakage.

I for one love this idea. I don't know if I'd rather see him painted up just purple, or see him brown and purple like him Transmetals figure though. Either way, this is a great offering from Hasbro to us that feel BW goes completely unnoticed lately. Plus, when the Dinobot DLC came out for FoC, first thing I did was attempt to make BW Megatron, and now I can have him in figure form.

I was thinking the other day how they could remold a lot of Grimlock figured into a pretty decent BW Megatron homage, so I hope this is true.

Man, I'm.....kinda on the fence about this. Beast Wars Megatron was my very first Transformer, but....he's fine. I don't need a new version of him. But I kinda want him anyway. Damn choices!

ihad been waiting for a BW Megs to swing my way so this should do the trick!

while I'm all for a)Beast Wars Classics and b)fully robotic beast modes and even quite keen on a melding of the two, ala Cybertron Megatron and Optimus Primal, this doesn't work for me. I'm not keen on the head sculpt to begin with, and Megatron doesn't really look right without one of his hands made moot by having to wield half of his beast-mode kibble in it. I'd have much rather had no remolding and a simple repaint into G2 Grimlock, or an homage to the lava Grimlock from animated. They could have even called the red on T-Wrecks (sure he was a BW Meg repaint, but he was far from prominent in fiction, so I could live with such a big departure in design.

Silly that I'm asking for kibble weapons here, but it makes sense for Megatron. Still, it it looks nice enough in the final product I'm not ruling out my being swayed by it.

I'm all for Beast Era characters, but I'm just not feeling this. It's just too Grimlock and not enough Megatron.

Hasbro, if you're going to give us a new BW Megatron, give us the red version of the RID Megs that you bastards cancelled once FunPub took over Botcon. Not this.

I have the same set-up for my first Titan slot in Fall of Cybertron.

Headsculpt is very BW Megatron, but with the sword and shield I'm more reminded of Magmatron. Very slim chance of it being Magmatron? Mmmmmaybe.

didnt see that one coming, but thats because this mold doesnt work for BW Megatron. With more remolding sure but just a new head sculpt makes it look stupid.

Not to ,ention asymetrical. I figured it would be Transmetal as well.

now i want to see monkey optimus. but seriously i think this works perfectly, just wish they could of give him different weapons, like a blaster or something.

That's an interesting idea. I could go for that.

I think the debate here boils down to whether people view this possible retooling as an homage or update to BW Megatron.

As an homage, it definitely does not work - whether regular or Transmetal, this mold misses the mark for reasons already stated (no T-rex head hand, tail weapon, or thrusters if Transmetal).

As an update, however, I think this is brilliant (I use the word as a non-Brit). I love the vibe this guy gives off - think Kaon Gladiator from Transformers Prime meets the conniving schemer from Beast Wars, and you have a total win.

I'd love to see the color palette, or some Photoshopped test shots, but as of right now, he's buy on sight.

What I'm curious about is what are they gonna call him? He has the same name as their main Aligned/Generations baddie, so are they gonna say he's another form of that Megatron, call him "Beast Wars Megatron" (likely, but that seems more a Takara move than a Hasbro one), or give him a new name entirely?

If it's the last one, I humbly suggest "Predatron," the way-too-cool-sounding-for-Playskool name of the sole "1-2-3 Go-Bots" baddie (OK, his name was spelled "Preditron," but I prefer this spelling).

How about they 'remold' this figure into the same Grimlock figure...only with a backside in bot mode and an underside in dino mode? Please/thanks.

I'd be happy with Gigatron as the Aligned name.

It's pretty cool looking. I like the head mold a lot. If the figure is actually planned to release and uses the same colors as BW Megatron then it could work out. But now the Grimlock i pre ordered doesn't feel as special. I still have to get him though considering i played both cybertron games (enjoyed both of them a ton) and had a lot of fun slicing through insecticons with grimlock's sword/ burning them to bits with his flamethrowing ability in dinosaur mode. It will also be my first dinobot ever... but it still won't feel as special considering he's going to be remolded.

Nice try HasTak! It's a good idea, but not one I'll be investing in. Not much wrong with the Beast Wars figures in my opinion.

Actually, if I were going to do this, it might be easier to list the Classics/Generations molds that have not been repainted/remolded.
