First Listing for Transformers Platinum Set Armada of Cyclonus

Wow, that's pricy.


At this point it's to be expected, but I can't believe that they actually sell enough of these at retail price to be able to keep churning them out.

I have a feeling that Cyclonus will stay in the box for me, I just want more Sweeps.

You know what? I feel like I've never seen a Platinum set never go on sale.
The first thing I think when I see these come out, I like it, I'll wait for a sale.
Can anybody think of a Platy that sold out at full price?

Yes, in Canada the Platinum Dinobots sold out at full price. I did buy them on sale (of course!) but they still had some in stock after the black firday sale and sold out at full price.

Also, Target does boost the prices of their platinum editions when they go on sale, making the sale useless. That happened last year with one of the set (I forget which one, probably the coneheads).

Yeah, the Coneheads was the set I ws going to bring up. I don't remember them going on clearance...

I think all the AOE sets sold out. In my town "Breakout Battle", "Autobots United", and "Dinobots Unleashed" all disappeared fast.

You know, these were online only here in the US, but I think Breakout Battle was the only one that moved at regular price. Autobots United sold out quick, but only after HTS put it on clearance then had a 20% off coupon hit a couple weeks later. Dinobots Unleashed got clearanced hard by BBTS, one of its official channels for distribution.

Ya, I scooped the Dinos Unleashed for 50% off from BBTS around Xmas time last year.

I guess my perspective on the Platinums is skewed because all the set's I've bought have been at a discount.

I've never even seen a Transformer on sale here, the only Platinum that seems to stick around here is the Insecticon set.

Crazy idea for a Platinum set for next year:

Nightbird (A Hasbro deco of the Takara figure)
Devcon (Titans Return Blurr's head on Titans Return Scourge's Body)
Alligatorcon (Sentinel Prime's Head on TR Skullcruncher's body in Optimus Colors)

That's a Japan-only release, a former Botcon and G1 cartoon character with his first Hasbro figure release, and a G1 cartoon version of Prime that only 3rd parties have done to date. Two out of three have a mad science vibe.

Hrm. You know, instead of Devcon, what would round out the set would be an Autobot Spike with Spike Headmaster. I want that now. Not sure what it would be made from but I want it.
