Robert Orci has finally confirmed on the Ugo Movie Blog that Frank Welker will be reprising one of his more well-known roles from the G1 Cartoon Soundwave.
Jordan Hoffman: Who's voicing Soundwave in Transformers?
Roberto Orci: Welker.
Jordan Hoffman: That's official?
Roberto Orci: I think so.

OMG, this just made my day! 
Excelent news! I can't wait to hear Soundwave/Welker! Ravage, eject! Operation: Autobots destruction! And I hope he also does Ravage as well 
. Frank finally has one of his characters voiced by him and his deserved place in the movie series with one of his best characters! And it also feels really special to see his name in the movie cast in imdb, I've checked for that so many times before and now it's there!

YES!!! Wait now i have to see this crappy movie. God damn it. Well at least i have some thing to look forward to now. Least theres one part of the movie that wont suck. Well that and the pretty ILM effects. Hope they bring back the G1 voice effect as well. So you think he'll do Ravage too?

Um, why is everyone happy? Don't the Decepticons in the movie speak that Cybertronian lingo? We're not going to hear Welker do any of his famous lines, well we will, but we won't be able to understand them. Also who says they're going to use a Vocoder like they did back in the day. Without that SW's voice is just like Dr. Claw's. That's not bad either though.

Here's the rejoicing part.
The complaining part will follow after how much different Soundwave will look from his G1 counterpart (Ignoring, of course, the 3 other Soundwaves that exist in the mythos). Probably with dumb flames or something.

Dear god, no!!!
I HATE that they had Prime say that. Why would he say that? Its a stupid thing to say in any situation. It makes you look dumb as hell. It doesn't even make sense!

(while Optimus plays basketball with Spike).
Optimus Prime: "Am I drooling correctly?"
Spike: "The word is 'dribbling', Optimus!"
--"The Master Builders" (G1 Season 2, Episode 16).
Optimus Prime: "Amazing, a booby trap that actually captures boobies."

The "my bad" thing cemented Oppy's mentioning the Autobots learned about earthlings from the "world wide web". Btw I liked the way that was said too.
If Bay has some sense (and he does; he listened to fans who they wanted to v/a Prime) he won't have soundwave saying something akin to "my bad". Besides the character being cruel and emotionless, 1st Bay kept emphasizing the decepticons as "they bad" at the expense of their characters.
Hope he listens casting Soundwave's v/a. I just can't see anyone else but Welker in the role.
