iGear Mini MP Convoy / Prime Pricing and Release Date Revealed?

Posted by DevastaTTor Aug 22, 2009 at 2:27pm CDT 40,454 views
Since we all know how release dates can slide, treat this with a grain of salt until both iGear and retailers confirm this. I noted today while browsing the iGear site, under the iGear Shop tab, that the pre-order for their Mini-MP Convoy/Prime figure, IG-PP01, has price and release date assigned to it. According to iGear, the release is expected in November and the pricing is 95.00 dollars. Stay tuned to see if that date and price is confirmed by online retailers.

95 USD  !!! My MP-01 cost me a little more than. In my opinion this think is very over priced the ideal price would be 50 USD like the Henkei Prime now 95 USD is absurd, i'm not going to have it for that i stick whit my MP-01, MP-04 and Henkei Prime.

Hmm, $95 price tag. I get the feeling that iGear may have priced it that way to skirt Hasbro's view on 3rd party produced full figures selling for over $100.

The prototype looks darn good, especially with the alternate head sculpt(is it included?). But it's nearly $100. I pre-ordered MP-01B for $104 and bought a MISB MP Starscream for $70. If I only had an MP OP/Convoy right now to help me judge whether or not I would want a scaled down version of the figure. :-?

Like everyone else has said or will say WOW!!! to the $95 dollar price that's just a ridiculous price for him now if it was a takara price I wouldn't mind it but a third party group it should be about $50 to $70 .

All the photo shopped images we saw a couple days ago are those the ones we'll be getting from iGear or are those just ones that they sent out to see fans reactions toured them? If so I guess Optimus Prime and Nemesis Prime are the one's I'll get since they are priced so high.

Wow MP-01B for $104 that's a lot less than BBTS! may I ask where you pre-ordered from?

On topic, at $95, this is one KO that I won't be owning....

I ordered from Robot Kingdom. The site states that the $104 price is good until August 20th, which we're past, but the site still shows the price on the MP-01B. The normal price on the site is $119.99, I believe.

I think I'll pass on this figure, regrettably. It's just that it's a high price for a scaled down KO and as much as I love the idea of a Voyager-ish sized MP figure with the detail shown on the prototype, I'll be getting the full sized real deal in the future for just a little more.

Ah ok, with international shipping it works out to be pretty much the same...

Yeah, I think it depends on your location. I'm in Canada so even with $34 shipping for the figure, I still get this cheaper at RK than at other vendors. RK has fairly high shipping on individual item orders but I've compared order totals where I've chosen more than one item at a few different on-line stores and RK usually gives me the cheapest total cost.

To me, it's going to come down to the level of quality of the figures (assuming there will be repaints). 95 dollars is expensive when compared to MP figures (although he is 2/3rds of a MP Prime size wise and costs 2/3rds the amount of the MP01-B shipped in the US) but seems relatively reasonable when compared to recent Henkei exclusives like Dirge/Thrusts or the pricey Henkei Strafe. At 15 dollars less than Strafe, if he's well painted and well molded, that's not too bad-it's really just a matter of perspective. After all, they're all rolling off the line at a factory in China.

I'm going to make my final decision on these when I see someone's video review and a couple galleries.

Yeah, the Gentei exclusives are pretty crazy in price as well as the exlusives like the crystal figures.

I'd like to ask those who have a MP Optimus, do you think you'd consider the mini MP OP at $95 if the production figures live up to the prototype and are well painted?

If quality hold up, I will pick this up. Takara MP-1 (and MP-5 Megatron) is just too out of scale compared to Grimlock and the seekers. I'll still 'love' my MP versions, but I think this smaller version will mesh nicely.

Comparing this mini MP Prime KO to the Henkei exclusives is not right. For anyone outside of Japan, they had to go through a secondary party to get them, which the cost was not retail. If you were in Japan, then those exclusives would of been a lot more cheaper compared to the $95 for this mini MP Prime, as you could by straight from retail. If I remember correctly, the Henkei exclusive seekers were around 3,000yen, so under $40US easily.

No word has been said if this mini MP Prime will have diecast. So that is another factor to consider about the price. Its also been pointed out that Hasbro's version of MP Primes were cheaper.

Ooch...less than expected, but still up there. Definitely a "wait for the Christmas bonus" buy.

really unfortunate about the price, i wanted a black version of it but its at least 50% over my budget for something i already have the real mold of.
i suppose i can just start saving for the megatron, which will be worth it to me.

I think realistically any knockoffs like this should be set at about 70.00..they re selling tons of repaints so they'll make production money and profit..but 95.00 is too much..

why the hell would anyone pay more for less i paid 65 for my mp prime and there is no way that i would pay nearly 100 for something thats smaller and is in fact a knockoff, 3rd party companies are taking the piss man with with price and just copying figures.
