Wow, is that the finished product? He has no paint apps on his body
What is this? This is so lazy, they even left the light bar on him; I mean, I know that it is part of the body itself, but man this is hideous and lazy
Thank Primus I got the first '84 team for him already, looks like I really will just be getting hound from that set of limbs

He hardly has any to be sure, just on the head and chest. The rest is concentrated on the vehicle mode, which needs a lot: red to cover the blue plastic and vice-versa as it would be a patchwork otherwise.

Clever, Hasbro. Clever.
And looks to be the same as the ones on display at BotCon and SDCC:

No wonder we never noticed that before. Look at how they posed his CG render:Hellscream9999 wrote:Wow, is that the finished product? He has no paint apps on his body![]()

They could've painted the faux headlines or a number on his chest at least. Something. Painted the boots.
Which brings me to a question. The boot section was remolded from Dead End for Streetwise. Streetwise, Prowl, and Smokescreen all have rear car windows for their boots. Why didn't they try to mold the boots so that they look like fake windows and would be more accurate?

Is that a new head sculpt compared to Prowl?

Nope, straight redeco all the way. Would be a waist waste to retool it if they look so much alike, right?

Yeah, I'm sorry, but this is inexcusable laziness on hasbro's part. I don't care how 'G1 accurate' this may be (it isn't really though, I believe), nor should it being the last wave affect it's deco.
I get the feeling that TT could really knock this waves' deco's outta the park

Shame, really, considering the Classics version of Smokescreen was itself known for having a horrible paint job. http://www.seibertron.com/transformers- ... 1690/1/38/

It's cool to get these first in-hand looks but lets wait until we see this in packaging when it comes out before we rush to judgement on something like paint and such. Like those reviewers that review early third party samples says "the final product may change, this is still and early example" or whatever

Except that it's the same as the display pieces, and the artwork that they release (which to my knowledge has been on the mark for this line) so, yeah, he isn't likely to get any more paint apps between now and then

I feel the need to remind everyone, the vehicle shell has quite a bit of paint to cover the off-color areas (blue that should be red and vice-versa). That's probably where all the paint budget went into.

Well considering that there are no remolded parts, and that all the other versions of this mold have an approximately equivalent amount of paint on the side of the vehicle mode - prowl, streetwise, dead-end, and neckbrace - I'd say it really isn't okay to leave it entirely unpainted in bot mode.

I was talking about the top: most of the vehicle mode is blue plastic as far as I can tell. Meaning it needs a lot of red paint to make it look like a proper Smokescreen. Only the roof and arms are red plastic, the latter needing blue paint.

I was kinda meh until I scrolled done to the car mode. That sure is purdy. I've already got 4 of this mold though. A real shame about that bit of unpaintable plastic they keep using (I'm assuming its unpaintable that is).
Sharp car mode you gots there smokes.
