This to me sums up all the source of where I suspect this toy hasn't met expectations. Because of the design choice to include the 'toy face', all of that volume behind the windscreen, which logically is where you would store the actual head is used for something else.

That held sculpt is magnificent, though.

Although I suppose there is some irony in a company called Voodoo NOT using black magic lol. Again, 3rd party companies should not even be contenders when it comes to producing the "definitive" look of any particular character. Has/Tak have done brilliant jobs with previous MP releases, but I think it's fair to say that this one has divided the fan community more than any previous release. So much so, that we'll probably get an updated version at some point in the future. At least, I hope so... Because I sure wont be buying this mess in it's current form.

Eh, the Voodoo Robots versions do the torsos right, but the legs (and those window feet!) are completely wrong for the TV likeness Takara Tomy was going for (and many of us prefer) and the arms look no better at all still leaving chunks of stuff on the back of the forearms. It really comes down to preference and I find more than enough faults with all of the third party versions that I'm satisfied with the official version.

You may be right... It's likely my own neurosis that's the factor here. I'm sure most of us have a different vision of what constitutes a "perfect" Ironhide sculpt. My main point of contention is the torso and waist. With that in mind, my own preference for the torso/waist of the Voodoo design may have led me to overlook some of the other potential shortcomings you've mentioned. I mean, the torso is the most glaringly obvious difference there & it's mainly that (and the diaper) that I have a problem with. While yes, it is largely personal preference, I still can't help but feel as though Has/Tak could have made a better job of it rather than simply relying on us collectors to buy the figure just because it's the official version & it's the best they can be bothered with.

Yeah, I know a lot of people don't like aspects of this figure, but I am good with it. I can't wait to get mine (well, when Hot Rod comes out - gotta save on shipping).

And yet, his profile from the front is thin and sleek. I'm not sure if that's a positive or a negative.

It's because of the way his shoulders sit back. If they were forward just a little more in line with his head and hips his "gut" wouldn't seem so big.

This is a two way street.

But... you're not buying it. You're waiting for someone else to get it to see if you like it. So...

This.

We've had plenty of users who have registered actual issues with the design of the mold, not least of whom are Sabrblade and Seibertron. And as pointed out earlier, it seems a good portion of the figure was given up to a throwback easter egg and was designed around it; And honestly, he never looked right to me in the first place, which is strange as ratchet actually pulls the mold off quite well, and I can only place the blame on the design of the diaper >:oP

I had grown somewhat optimistic about this figure, but these pictures ruin that. It doesn't live up to the MP standard. 3Rd party doing a better job doesn't even matter because we have seen A better job done on on the regular transformed lines. This just feels lazy.

Fits his character IMO.

These last in hand pictures have looked a lot better. Glad to see the chest/neck area doesn't have to look as odd as it did in the first pictures released. I'm still firmly seated on the fence.

One more thing where would the side skirts and wheels on his butt go since in the cartoon his Transformation defied the laws of physics with all his vehicle mode bits just disappearing into nothing. What do you people want the designers to do, use black Magic to copy a design that in Robot mode had zero vehicle bits on show to work with and still transform into a van. I doubt even Hasui could of engineered that and still make it look good. This figure is probably the best anyone could do with the design they had to work with and all we can do is be perfectionists who nit-pick every detail.

Sir, you obviously haven't seen Voodoo Robots version. The proportions are amazing and it doesn't have the hip kibble.

Well at least there are Options to choose from if you don't like MP Ironhide bye the Third party MP figures we have Options. I do agree that the Voodoo Toys Figure looks amazing it is nice and Clean in Bot Mode, But I like this Ironhide too. I respect other peoples opinions and I am not going to criticize them for not liking this figure it's their own Opinion ;)

It also isn't shooting for the screen accuracy elsewhere.
