not a fan of the bright yellow but its still a good looking figure and the weapon is awesome, after seeing more of the figure i do see the quickstrike homage a little.

I never bought a movie Sidswipe, but I'll buy this. The color scheme, Mechtech weapons and the fact that it's a Beast Wars homage make it just too good for me to pass up.

With modified blades, but yes.
I like it, though I'm still at a loss as to how this homages a scorpion with a cobra for a tail.

I can see the homage in bot mode. The colors are very similar, as is the head sculpt. The blades look like cobra fangs and for some reason he feet seem similar to his BW counterpart. It's not the most perfect homage ever, but it's just enough to parallel an existing character.
As for the car not referencing a scorpion with a cobra tail, I can see your point. It's about as spot on as a construction vehicle referencing a raptor... *coughDAWNofFUTURESpastDINOBOTcough*

This is the Japanese version.
You can tell because the sword blades are blue and red. The US ones are both blue I believe.

It's hideous, but in a good way. I'm not a fan and it doesn't fit with my collection, but I can appreciate why many people will pick this one up. A nice homage. Someone at Hasbro is really getting creative with the homages and it is a nice nod to the fandom.

DOTM HA Basic Backfire Has ZERO Grey plastic. It's all dark grey-is, but not grey, and is got alot of black, gold, and silver, the human on the other hand.....
anyhow, that's the Japanese version, so maybe the us version might have that grey plastic...one can only hope not...
you DO know they're releasing this stateside right? You'll hav'em in miami don't you worry!
He looks VERY nice.
