Hm, that's not a bad looking figure. The arms are a little weird, and the shins and feet are insanely huge, but the rest of it looks alright. Still, I think I'll limit myself to a Strongarm figure and a Bisk figure.

These retailer photos always take away some of the magic of the initial Hasbro released ones, bringing me back to reality.

Just look at the difference:

Yeah, the lifeless "pose" of the new photo brought to mind those spin-attack things.

Took me a minute to realize that the loops on his one hip are to store his swords.

While searching Amazon for a Drift listing I noticed that Warrior Steeljaw is in stock. Grimlock was in earlier today. It looks like that the three warrior figures come and go from Amazon. Something tells me 3rd party sellers are buying them up or Amazon only has low stock.

On another note judging by that head and arm design I'm calling it now, Drift is a rebuilt/upgraded version of Sideswipe.

Just found video reviews for RID Warrior Class Bumblebee, Strongarm, Grimlock, and Steeljaw!

As expected, I have no interest in Bumblebee or Grimlock. I'm REALLY liking Strongarm's toy, and Steeljaw is interesting, but poorly executed since it can't seem to stand up without having to balance on it's tail.

wow.. it's like they're not even trying anymore.. their profit margins on these "deluxe" figures must be HUGE.. seriously.. it's insulting.

Drift needs to blow away. There plenty of other characters to choose from.

I'm gonna keep my eye on them, but so far, they look pretty decent. Simple but effective.

I don't care that its simplistic. I care that its fun and looks like the character. I wish this was in his g1 colors and not in yet ANOTHER color scheme for the character. Oh well.

I know that I've defended unnecessary gaps in a Transformers construction before as it's been around for at least 20 years and oh so many figures have them. However those legs are pretty bad. I get why they're like that as with the way the rest of it's part are constructed, there isn't room anywhere else for them. As such, the ones on the legs were made even larger. I just think they could've at least put one or two cross bars in there. It doesn't look like it would need them structurally but at least it would've look more filled in. On a positive note, if you wanted your drift to have a bunch of guns instead of his swords, at least you'll have a place to store them.

It doesn't look to bad otherwise and it's legs don't really even look that bad. They're just big enough to make you think that maybe they're there for transformational purposes like Classics Sideswipe/Sunstreaker. I like the colors as we don't seem to get orange Transformers too often. It's color also allows one to display this Drift next to an AOE Drift and Generations Drift without a problem of them all looking alike.

I don't have specific shelves and when I display my figures, it's just a mashup of a bunch of different figures that I like regardless of toyline/continuity. So I would be displaying this, if/when I get it, with other Drifts at the same time. Hey, there's a few million people with my first name, and even hundreds with my first AND last names, so why can't Transformers share names too right? So to me, three drifts can exist at the same time and so can a "G1ish" Grimlock with the dreaded RID Constructibot Grimlock and the new RID Grimlock.

Yeesh, that review for Strongarm just shows how thin and flimsy these new figures are. Hearing that horrible cheap plastic-y clacking as it moves reminded me an awful lot of the crappy plastic Mega Bloks uses.

A shame as I really do like the character design. Oh well.

I do want to clarify that I'm not complaining about the scheme. I was just hoping for him to look sorta like g1 drift so he could be a "couts as" for me. That's all.

G1 Drift?

I thought he was referring to Grimlock when I read that.

"Counts as" maybe? The way I am reading it, it's as if he doesnt have a Generations Drift and was hoping for a place holder.

so sorry. I haven't been clear in my posts. I forget that there is a whole bunch of others things we are talking about here.

I meant to say "counts as" as in, I was hoping I could get him to "count as" G1 Drift but this Drift is too different for my tastes. I like him though. He'd make a cool Yoketron or maybe even Banzai-tron. In fact, he is going to be my Yoketron I think.

But if there's already a passible G1 Drift toy in the Generations figure, what good would this one be as another?
