I got up this morning, and I was going to order some of these exclusives. But then I realized that, I had almost no interest in all of this year's exclusives. That includes Marvel and GI Joe...
I'm not a big enough Marvel fan to get all excited about what are really nothing more than overpriced variants, a two-pack of Destros seems fail-ish to me, I don't collect Mighty Mugs, and this would be the third shot at Soundwave for everyone since 07. Now, I accept him as easily the most iconic TF ever, but I just can't get excited when I feel like I'll be seeing him again just next year...
I think Hasbro really dropped the ball at SDCC this year. Why not Titanium Soundblaster? A reissue of G1 Blaster? A new Classics/Universe redeco? Was this all they could think of???
I have to admit that I was kind of bummed about the SDCC exclusives this year myself. Soundwave is, without a doubt, my favorite Transformers toy and character. It's just a great concept and I've always love that he could interact with his cassettes as a toy. I think the SDCC set is really nice. But I wish there had been some other offerings. An exclusive Universe figure from SDCC? Even a "Soundwave: Generations" (Evolution?) package would've been awesome ... bust out the G1 mold, Machine Wars mold, Cybertron mold and the ROTF mold ... wala! Would've been even cool to have had Mighty Muggs "Nemesis Prime" just as an homage to the figures of the past from SDCC. Ah well .. the Soundwave set is really nice though and you can even put it back in the package which is a rarity for Hasbro products.
