Toyfare Magazine #140 Teases ROTF Toys

-Toyfare #140- Just released on Wednesday to comic book stores, Toyfare #140 has a few pages teasing upcoming Transformers ROTF movie toys, and movie plotlines. Containing interviews with movie producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, as well as, Hasbro senior design director for TF and GI JOE toy lines Aaron Archer, and Hasbro's marketing director, Greg Lombardo.

**You should note that there are a few movie spoilers, and confirmations of previous rumors ahead, so caution is advised if you want to be oblivious to movie information (good luck!).**

-MAJOR CHARACTER INFORMATION SPOILER! The Fallen character is an original member of the race, one of the famed original 13, similar it seems to his Dreamwave comics origin. He is credited with having split the Transformers race into Autobots and Decepticons, as is being hinted at in the new IDW Transformers movie prequel series, [i]Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Defiance. (Resize for information)

-The film's timeline is said to take place approximately one year after the original movie takes place.

-In the film, when Devastator makes his appearance you can expect him to be a whopping 100-120 feet tall.

-The Soundwave and Bumblebee preview toys will be released approximately two weeks before the rest of the line is to be released on May 30th.

-Soundwave's toy design is a combination of his movie design, and Hasbro's need for the toy to be a bit more basic. There is a reason for the way he is designed in the film, but that would be telling, which they are not.

-Pictures of the new ROTF leader class Optimus Prime toy adorn one of the magazine's covers, and is also shown inside along with the NEW Voyager Starscream toy.

-As we have seen, there will be more 'off-screen' characters included in the toy line than for the previous movie.

-A 'big ticket' deluxe sized item is hinted at, but no details are given. TOP SECRET.

-The first wave of characters includes: Sideswipe, Sideways, and more...

-Archer would like to see a Megan Fox Human Alliance set. It's on his famous 'wish list'.

-Robot Heroes will have better articulation

-Gravity bots are for young kids and convert automatically when picked up.

 No Biggie!... It never hurts to post the same story twice. They can always be merged and hopefully Seibertron members are not relying on other members to post stories that they found themselves, or else we might not ever get the news around here LOL!

You have GOT to be kidding me! MORE off screen figures than the first movie? Either someones misinformed, or Hasbro is REALLY starting to push it. I mean how many off screen figures were there?

Well, that really depends on what you count as off-screen.

Off the top of my head:

Off-screen Repaints of Onscreen Characters

Nightwatch Optimus

Stealth Bumblebee
G1 Jazz
Rescue Ratchet
Arctic (?) Ironhide
G1 Starscream
'Sheriff' Barricade
Jungle Bonecrusher
Desert Attack Brawl
(Protoform Starscream sort of belongs on this list)

Repaints of Onscreen Characters as Offscreen Characters

Cliffjumper
Thundercracker
Evac

Offscreen characters created from Onscreen Vehicles

Landmine
Stockade
Incinerator
Longarm (also in the Game)

Completely Offscreen Characters

Arcee (from concept art)
Wreckage (also from concept art IIRC)
Payload (from the game)
Swindle (from the game)
Camshaft
Dropkick (from the game)
Salvage (from the game)
Dreadwind (loosely from the game)
Overcast
And all of the Real Gear Transformers

And then there were the scads upon scads of store exclusive repaints of older figures: a couple ultra-class repaints from TRU, a couple voyagers and six or eight deluxes from Wal-Mart, and even more basics from Target. I wouldn't count these though, as, personally, I wouldn't consider these to be "true" movie figures.

Sounds pretty cool. Wonder how it works? Ill have to get one just for the novelty of it. Soundave is the only figure im looking forward to other than leader prime.

- When asked about the challenge of creating Devastator on screen, Lorenzo mentions that Bay had the challenge in the first movie of having 30 foot robots. In the second movie, Bay has the challenge of having a robot almost four times that. Expect Devastator to be 100 to 120 feet tall in the movie.

Lol. Most directors get around this issue by using wide angle shots, which should have been done more often in the first movie.

See...working in retail does have it's advantages.

Not only will I have first picks on the preview figures of Soundwave and Bumblebee, I'll have first picks of nearly any figures (except the twins - looks like their faces melted - so pass on those two, LOL) But May is still a LONG ways off....LOL
