Transformers: Encore 20 Devastar / Devastator Revisited

Posted by Blurrz Jul 3, 2011 at 8:20pm CDT 40,067 views
With the Transformers fandom in Devastator fever with the upcoming Encore reissue, and new figures from various third parties, let us take a look at the Encore Devastator pre-order over at amiami.jp. The figure is set for release this November, and the japanese hobby site has blown up the prototype image of the behemoth sized combiner. While some have seen a smaller version of this picture, it shows that Encore Devastator will feature black forearms, and Mixmaster's mixer will have a gray tone, which will set this figure apart from it's original release. Also of note, the missile launchers are colored yellow, instead of the original green. Will these changes stick to the November release, or will the figure be the exact same as it's Generation One version? Only time will tell!

Glad I ordered this. I never had the original as a kid, and I really want the 3rd party one...just can't justify paying that much for it. I bought my son the all green movie verse one and have been wanting my own ever since.

Wait, so this is supposed to be bigger than the original? Or is the word "behemoth" used in the summary used as a metaphor? :???:

If this is just a metaphor, then I deserve this;

I find it hard to believe that Mixmaster's barrel will be grey, which completely doesn't match with anything else on the figure. Same goes for the missile launchers.

But stranger things have been known to happen.

I'm pretty sure it will be the same size as the original G1. You could always buy the CD add ons.....

This was the only Gestalt I managed to complete as a kid and somewhere along the line I lost Long Haul; so I'm looking forward to this reissue. I hope the color changes stand; they look sharp and I don't mind a little variation on a reissue. Bought!

I can't buy this, but if I could, I would. My only minor draw back is that it doesn't have visor eyes. :CON:

Isn't this how he looks on the old toy catalog? If so then maybe they are trying to give us the version that we never got like E Hobby Astrotrain.

That grey barrel is familiar for some reason and I think that is why.

Three or four add-ons that help make the G1 figure more articulate.

Unfortunately, the site amiami from where I got the the original source picture has this all sold out. I'm trying to find another source where this guy is available at a cheaper price.

At its discounted reserved price, he's selling out like hot cakes!

I dont see whats the big deal about the G1 re-release of Devastator. He has been re-issued and KO'd so many times in the last 25 years that its hard to imagine any G1 figure collector not owning him already in some form.

Please let that just be a test shot or something. They better not finally reissue him and then ruin it with those color choices.

What's wrong with the updated color choice? Maybe to differentiate him from the HiQ K.Os that are circulating and avoid the previous brouhaha that was Metroplex Encore.

And, the "visor" optic comment on Dev, well the TV series really couldn't get that right. For me, I wish they could give him the "red optics" he had in the show.

I checked the toy catalog. They are making it look like the version in the catalog.

The grey barrel and black forearms are awesome now.

Maybe because not everyone, like me, was able to get a AUTHENTIC G1 original or reissue, and maybe because the K.O's were really poorly done. I had a K.O. that just fell a[art when touched..........

My childhood vintage Devastator falls apart when you touch him. Especially the Bonecrusher arm. Im going with the TFC Devastator for my classics collection. Now what I really wanna see is the clear green plastic and light blue Devastator KO's that are supposed to be coming out later this year. Those things are going to be bad ass !!!

If that is the final colors, then I might have to cancel my preorder or wait and see if Hasbro can do it right. Not feeling it at all. If they are going to change the color of the barrel, might as well make it purple.
