Revised Names For Fansproject Causality Series

Posted by LOST Cybertronian May 13, 2011 at 6:48am CDT 35,728 views
Fansproject has updated their website with revised names for their causality series. These names are only slightly different than what was originally announced. CA-03 as we already know is now known as Thundershred, CA-04 is Stormbomb and CA-05 is called Backfiery.

Ok i was like this is cool and the names are pretty cool too until i saw the last one: Backfiery? i mean Thundershred and Stormbomb sound like cools names, but Backfiery? Just Backfire would have worked just as well. Oh well, he still will be Kickback too me.

I think it's because there already is a Transformer named Backfire, personally I would have came up with another name but, whatever, these still look sick! :-(

There is indeed a Transformer named Backfire (just did a quick Google search). Swapping "thunder" and "storm" over seems like such a minor detail. I'd love to know the reason behind that change.

Assuming this is for legal reasons. Does it really matter though. We all know who they'll be when they land on our shelves.

Backfiery just sounds silly. Whatever, they probably pulled something out of their hat fast and got back to work.

Anyhoo, I wonder if their elements will change? The brief on BBTS said Stormshred obtained the power of wind with his ninja skills, but now he's called Thundershred. No big deal, same thing right? Well... the guy now called Stormbomb was expected to get the power of thunder. It's a funny twist I wouldn't put past Hasbro, but will Fansproject let it slide.

My curiosity is peaked as to why change names. Regardless of what their names are I'm still getting them and calling them Bombshell, Kickback, and Sharpnell. :P

Backfirey? Really? If it's a copyright issue, why not just come up with something different altogether. It's not like Backfire is the original toy they're immitating.

...And Thunderbomb was way cooler.

I'm hoping for Shot hole, Zaptrap, and Salvo repaints, myself.

And I use to think the insecticons were lame when I was a kid.

These are just 100% bad @$$.

Once again, fansproject knocks this one out of the park!

I liked the Insecticons as a kid. They were so different in their concept of transforming Insects, like the Dinobots were different. Never had them growing up, though.

Fansprojects is terrible at it's names, but it doesn't matter. They can call it anything they like, I'll call it bought on sight.

They should just give them numbers and leave themm nameless. Everyone knows who they are supposed to be. After reading the bio cards that came with Warcry and Flameblast, I must say their stories are getting pretty stupid. I would rather they just let us use our imagination.

Yeah, the stories they come up with really suck. Almost makes me wanna cancel my preorder ... NOT!!

Of course they really would need to put forth more effort if / when they release more original stuff like Glaciarbot. But if they're just gonna o not-Classics, then it doesn't matter to me what they come up with.

Really hope you reconsider the notion of FansProject ceasing their story telling "gimmick".
It's not inconceivable to just ignore anything story related in a FansProject offering - for whatever reason other than Hasbro licensed continuity loyalty.
I would, however like to point out that many enjoy the comics/stories of the toys. Funny, but I can truly say that I use my imagination with CC and TFcon PC - same goes with Protector and SS. In fact, I can honestly say - I can't imagine Scythe without his comic. Nothing beats an origins story. Personally, Warcry's and Flameblast's respective bios are rather interesting. And they even included it with their artwork (another gimmick collectible). It's simply the evolution of their effort and professionalism in the market; and I enjoy watching their success.

I have not as of yet got any Fansproject figures mainly due to lack of cash, But seriously does anyone feel they would have been better off not painting the figures?

They would then have no problems whatsoever with copyright as it is a kitbash for fans. When i look at the New Fansproject figures the insecticons they are basically them but much better made. Hasbro will see this and be annoyed with them.

I think it would sell less if that were the case, because less people have painting skills

Anyway, lol Backfiery.

No way in hell do I want to paint my toys.

I build a lot of models, and am pretty decent at painting miniatures, but they aren't toys. When a buy a transformer, I want to be able to tear it open and play with it immediately. A resin kit on the other hand, needs to be washed, trimmed up, assembled, filled, primed, painted, and then sealed. I don't mind taking the time to plan out kits, and put the time into them, but for me: Transformers = Toys, not projects.

I also think that it would degrade their value in a collection. These will get a limited run, and by having them all identical, they each hold their value. Once they are painted differently (and to varying degrees of skill), they immediately lose a lot of their value to me.

Besides, those who want to paint them are free to muck theirs up as much as they want! :P

My $0.02...

these are by far my favourite looking 3rd party tf's

i dont' like spending money on this sort of thing however because besides being broke, i fear hastak might come out with their own official versions one day. They should just buy up the designs and mass produce them.

. The name is rubbish but i think we'd all use their original names to refer to them. perhaps "jumpfire"
