The Seibertron.com Twincast / Podcast returns for an episode brimming with more jokes and fun than you can put 90s vac-metal chrome on top of. Join host Scotty P as he chats about your favorite robots in disguise with Megatronus, Tigertrack, and our latest guest podcaster Flashwave!

Episode #202 "ReChrome 2: CyGate" is available directly and in our RSS Feed, and should appear on iTunes, Google Play, and Stitcher Radio within 24 to 48 hours of when you see this news post.

Here's what we talk about during this episode, and it isn't CyGate:
  • Takara Tomy Masterpiece Optimus Prime version 3 hits our radar as we try to draw conclusions based on the handful of grey-model images.
    Image
  • We make some bold predictions on what could be this year's SDCC exclusives. Is there where we'll see rumored upcoming releases such as Counterpunch?
  • Golden Lagoon madness hits the Takara Tomy Mall!
  • The Hall of Fame... does not matter is the end of that sentence. That said, we have some fun while the crew submits their votes during the show.
    Image
  • Brief in-hand impressions of Power of the Primes Abominus occur as Scotty P recently completed his set thanks to the quick stocking of site sponsor The Chosen Prime.
  • Star Trek vs Transformers is happening and Transformers fans seem to be excited for this crossover.
  • Lost Light 18 - the quest is over!? We look at the latest entry of IDW's Lost Light series in full detail. If you're looking to avoid spoilers, steer clear of 1:17:32 - 1:48:22 in the audio.
    Image
  • The short Lost Light 19 preview also gets some mention, so click the link here to check that out if you haven't.
  • Bragging Rights takes us to the end of another episode.

So, what you giys dont hear is after the show Ari asks me to still write my usual 40 paraghraph post...

I didnt say Gun, but whwn I brought up Hasbro Scattorshot matching Abominus, I was meaning that Magenta colored Gun he came with. Someone 3P may come out with something better for Bommy, but I still wonder if that could stand in.

I almost brought it up, but I didnt because I knew I would have to go digging for the comic and that takes time and is really boring to lusten to, but yes, Luna1 hss the Grand Architect logo stampwd onto the thrusters in the last issue. The Apark Ball also asks by way of picture speak if Skids is one of the Knights.

Thought: above Skids and the Spark ball are several multicolored Cybertrons. And we know the Necroworld was the original mold for Cybertron...

I went and reread #8, Nautica left Skids brain behind. Velocity says "Should we go back for it" and Nautica says basically "go bacj for what?" And its kinda left vague but suggests that she might have had her grief removed afterall.

I have to correct myself: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead is Vampires, not Zombies. I am forever ashamed.

Guess thats not 40 paragraphs. Thanks for having me on, guys!

I know we all love to get new stuff. I'm as guilty of it as anyone if not moreso.

I've been thinking about this a lot though, especially as my collection matures...so, when is it that you've had enough of a figure or character? When are they done?

I ask this in light of MP Optimus V3, but I was caught thinking about it as I ordered that PotP Nemesis Prime off Amazon and briefly considered how I had only handled my LG EX Black Convoy for all of the time it took to check his three modes.

I don't think I'm ever 'done', it's more a matter of becoming increasingly selective, i.e. Movie Bumblebee.

Outside of Bumblebee and Prime, it's hard to think of other characters that have been so overplayed. Prime fatigue is real, but Prime IS Transformers to many people; I find it hard to balance Prime fatigue with the appeal of a Prime display.

That said, I try to avoid tiring of the LGEX style redecos by collecting exclusively Nemesis-colored black Primes.

I think there's a part of me that feels greedy for keeping so many versions of characters when one or two are out-in-out definitive.

Take for example the Titan Returns Tidal/shockwave above.

I have the Armada and Micron Legends versions, both superior in almost all regards to the boxset version from Titans Return. Why keep it other than the fear of not having it? It's a question of maintaining a large, perpetually changing collection.

FOMO is huge, but also fear of lacking in options, which plays into the 'perpetually changing collection' angle.

For example, with PotP Outback, Cloud Brawn suddenly has a reason to exist in my collection, especially if my end goal is the widest diversity of molds and styles possible. Another example: eHobby Magnificus - if your goal is to cut down on redecos, Magnificus was an easy pass or cut until TR Perceptor came around to save Magnificus from obsolescence.

But that's of a separate piece than the character fatigue question, I guess.

I have a couple of different sets of criteria running on my extremely limited shelf space. (But boy do I have a lot crammed on there!) One is "What best captures the Character essance against the others." And the other is "Gimmixks I think are cool.

So for Example I have CW Prim3 chilling on a shrlf of CHUG esque Autobots that make up my main head cannon, many of who G1 counterpoints to Aligned Continuity roles) because he's the best overall size and proportion, and even though hes way beefier than a G1 Prime, still looks good.

(I regrattably sold my Classics Prime, kinda hate myself for that now but oh well)

Meanwhile, I have MagnusPrime/PE Ginrai/Godbomber on a different shelf vecause I love the figure and gimmick. Could I call that my neo G1 Optimus Prime? Believe me I tried, but no. But he's cool so he stays.

If I had more room, BH Prime and the Target Voyager 2007 Optimus (with the Cullen driver that springs out when you close the door)would be on the shelf too. Both are toys I just plain like, but lost out on display space. For me, the question is not "Is it Greedy" to keep them all, as much as "Am I keepung these because I still like them and will put thrm out? Or have they lost their Value?" Armada Prime was cool once, but a poseless brick he also be. I probably would sell my Enefon Prime, if not for one of the chest windows having a broken hinge. I probably would sell 2007 Leader Prime too, 'm just not into that one anymore.

Hot Rod: Before TFSS Impactor, ai had Enetgon Rod Major leading my Wreckers. Then he was replaced with TR Hot Rod. Now I keep bouncing between TR and the de Primed PotP Hot Rod. Right now I think I like the TR just a little more and keep PTP Rod as Rodimus Prime next to Powermaster Prime. Rodimus Prime just doesnt fit my headcanon,

I have my Armada and Energon Tidal Waves out, and those are awesome figurea, but I sold my TR Wave and hated that enough that I weht back and bought another one. The Armada figures define Tidal Wave, but the TR figure does something different and I like it. I almost like it more than Broadside, whobis chilling with my Wreckers with TFSS Quickslinger plugged in the same way as I have Astrotrain. I don't know if thats just because I grew up eith Tidal Wave or the colors or just the way they fit into headcanon. But then, most of my favotite TR Voyagers

Hmm, maybe I should go start a Collection Page. Its only 2 shelves, and 4 totes, but I could probably tell a good story.

Ever since MP-8 Grimlock came out, I've bought a lot of Grimlock toys. This is because I love him. That said, MP-8 is pretty much perfect, so why would I do this? If no more Grimlock toys were ever released, I'm satisfied. MP-8 made him "done".

The rest is honestly just me greedily embellishing transitory desires to have new things. New takes on an old idea can be fascinating though fleeting. Sometimes it's like comfort food. I'm not sure this answers your question fully, but it's something.

Call this differences in collecting peramiters, but I am still waiting for a "better" Grimlock for the Classics stuff. I have MP Grim, and I definately dont regret buying him, but I didnt like theway he stood out on my main guy shelf. Probably, if I were investing in the MP stuff (which is getting harder and harder to resist)

I shelve more based on headcanon than toy line. Wierdo I know.

I am content with the PtP Dinobots for now, moreso than I was with MP Grim, (and I am probably the only one in this thread who is) but I still am hoping we get one more crack at the Dinobots thats a little more MP but with the Generations

Edit:Good a place as any to stash this

I need more imposing Dinobots
