The flat rate shipping in the U.S. and Canada with HobbyWave is great. I plan on making a list of things I need like paint, thinner, etc., and buy them in one big order.

That's the 00 Quanta Gundam? Very nice!

I've watched a review of the MG Unicorn Gundam...wow, now that looks crazy cool. I love the two different looks of the normal and Destroy modes. I hope once Jesterhead finishes the models, he has some time to give us his thoughts on it and the Sinanju, which is another awesome looking design.

The Astray Blue Frame Second Revise looks very nice. Look at that inner frame! I hope the Red Frame gets a similar MG treatment in the future since the PG kit is so far out of reach for me.

I was thinking of getting the 1/100 Second L. I wonder if the Tactical Arms in sword mode would fit in the hands of Cybertron OP or Omega Prime.

Does anyone know if beam sabers are available in a sort of accessory pack? I've seen things like extra hands that can be bought separately. The reason I ask is that I've seen some kits that include beam saber hilts but not the blades or not include beam sabers at all when the character should have them.

Within each series, beam sabers are interchangeable. Not every kit comes with them, but usually Bandai has the mentality of "Well, not every fan is going to show of all their Gunpla with beam sabers, so we'll put some in one kit, but not the other". And that only deals with 1/144. If you've got a 1/100 or higher Gundam without beam sabers, something is wrong.

Since you're used to Gundam terminology, I'll finally show you to...

http://www.dalong.net

I think you can navigate it now, Convotron. (If you're confused lemme know)

When you click on the picture of any Gundam, you'll be pulled to the Review section. Click the 'information' button to be transfrered to the page showing off the Instructions, and most importantly the parts, so you'll know exactly what comes with it(most importantly beam sabers).

I'm not legally responsible for the amount of time you're about to lose looking at this stuff. :P

Very interesting! I've been mostly looking at 1/144 scale kits. There are only a couple of cases where I've seen "missing" beam sabers so it's great to know that they're interchangeable. I believe the HG 0 Gundam comes with an extra beam saber so I can donate it to another model in the 00 line. :)

So I checked prices on PG 00-Raiser...for that price, do I get a model or the actual mobile suit? I think I may have to scale back to Master Grade, I don't think my wallet is ready for the PG price tag.

Not the actual mobile suit, just one of the GN swords. ;)

As a newcomer to Gundam kits, my opinion has no weight but I can understand the pricing of PG kits. The pricing of PG kits is super high but for the recent kits like the PG Astray Red Frame, the products are very impressive. I don't know much about model kits in general but I can't recall seeing any models outside of the Gundam PG kits that have that kind of level of detail for the exterior and interior.

I think NG, HG, and MG are where I'm going to be at for a long while. I'm amazed by the designs and inner frames in more recent higher end kits. Even NG kits like the 1/100 Astray Red Frame look like amazing models. PG kits are amazing for sure but after seeing things like the MG Sinanju and Unicorn Gundam kits, I'm confident that MG level of complexity will be more than enough to make me happy.

The PG series is more of a showcase piece than anything else really. The time and commitment needed to build it is nothing compared to any of the other class sizes. If you actually want something to play with, by all means, go with 1/144 or 1/100 instead.... I tend to lead towards HG 1/144 because its the class with the most selection, yet still maintains high detail.

Yeah, I think HG is my ideal grade. PG is awesome but kind of like the MP figures in Transformers, it's purely for display and showcasing the current pinnacle of figure design. Great to look at but not a lot you can do with them.

My 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime is wonderful but it gets set up for display and then gets set aside, looking all pretty, while my Deluxe and Voyager figures get more attention and regular rotation in my display area.

The HG figures, being largely 1/144 scale, are a good size for display since they don't take up a huge amount of space and aren't so large that they're a hassle to handle and pose. They definitely have great details and great range of articulation from what I've seen of the HG kits produced in the last few years. The HG 1/100, NG 1/100, and MG kits are going to be treats for me to delve into every once in a while.

I recently watched a review of the HG Psycho Gundam and boy, is that a large model! It's 1/144 but when you look at it compared to other 1/144 figures, it's in pretty good scale, I think, because most Gundams(that I've looked into at least) are between 18 to 20 meters and the Psycho Gundam is supposed to be just over 40 meters tall. It's very cool to see different models being in pretty good scale with each other. It's a nice change from Transformers figures where you compare, say, two Deluxe figures and often see fairly off scale dimensions.

two more images from the new 00 movie along with the ones shown. The next two are Teria and what is presumed to be his new Gundam. Supposedly, Teria will be acting as a hologram on board Ptolemaios and his Gundam, given what happened in S2. Pretty much he's the link between the Ptolemaios and Veda.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2503/4008627096_fd6b698754_o.jpg

Looking at the image of Setsuna, I think we can say that this is a few years after Season 2. Sestusna looks more noticably older than he did in S2. makes me wonder how Feldt, Saji, Louise, and Marie/Soma will tun out.

I really want to see the new Gundam designs. So far so good.

Well I completed my first Gundam only two things were wrong with it a piece was broken off when I opened the box thank heavens it a piece that I can glue back on with no problem and the tiny white face plate piece was not included so overall it was really positive experience.

I'm glad your first experience with a Gundam kit was positive, shortround. However, the missing faceplate and broken part right out of the box is surprising! The model kit you have is the Seravee, right?

I've finished watching Gundam 00 and I must say I really enjoyed the series. The connections to the original MS Gundam series must have had some Gundam fans going wild! Now I'm starting back with the original MS Gundam series and I'll slowly work my way through the subsequent series slowly but surely.

I can't wait for my kits and Robot Damashii figures to arrive!

For that in-joke involving the 0 Gundam I told you about, Ribbons has the same voice actor in Japan as Amuro Ray, thus adding to the similarities between 0 Gundam and the RX-78-2. They kind of killed it in the English version, though. It would have been better of Brad Swaile voiced Ribbons instead of Setsuna. (Brad Swaile voiced Amuro in 0079 and Char's Counter Attack)

Wow, that's awesome! So Amuro's voice actor played Ribbons? Very cool. For another nod to the original series, is it just me or does the Reborns Cannon look like it's an homage to the RX-77-2 Guncannon?

Yes it is a Seravee, also at what grade do the Gundam's start to have skeletal system of sorts because that is the next model kit I want to try.

I believe Master Grade kits are the lowest grade where full inner frames are implemented, though the earlier kits don't have as extensive inner frames as the more recent kits.

The next Gundam I'm considering going for is Crossbone Gundam X-1 but I want to know if this version is the 1/100 or higher version of this model, also here are front and rear view of my first gundam.
