Avengers/Transformers

Postby WarGraver » Sun Nov 07, 2010 3:28 pm

Motto: "We Grimstone no bozo, we POPE!"
In this note, I take the Marvel/Transformer Crossover toys, and flesh out a storyline for them. Wave by wave. I will probably write with heavy bias toward the few I like, and blow up the others as quickly as the plot allows. I also plan to give the robots new traits and names on a whim.

Here we go.

Wave 1: Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Venom

We open on Cybertron. Sometime between G1 and the Beast Wars. In an Autobot laboratory, working on prototype protoforms that will eventually become the Maximals. Each protoform features a different experimental procedure for size reduction and alt form enhancement. A Decepticon terrorist (maybe Jhiaxus, or Tarantulas... some evil scientist) appears, killing a few scientists, and then sets off a sort of bomb, that opens a space bridge to a random location.

The scene shifts to Earth. Not the main 616 universe, but an Earth. This world's version of the Avengers (Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine, and the Human Torch) have just finished beating up this world's version of the Sinister Six (Venom, and the other 5 don't matter). A spacebridge opens, dumping the Decepticon, a few protoforms, and half of an Autobot. To make his escape, the Decpticon activates 2 protoforms and runs off with the others. The first features a new version of Pretender technology -- an organic shell. It scans a nearby muscle car, yet fails to initialize, until the black symbiont seizes the opportunity for power, and discards Eddie Brock in favor of this machine by bonding to that organic shell.

Oil Slick is born. Featuring Spider-Sense and able to fire extra-thick black ooze from its body. Too heavy to web-swing, but really doesn't need to since he can turn into a car.

The second protoform is equipped with a device coincidentally similar to a Cathexis Ray. It scans a tank. It also scans the Hulk, draining the gamma radiation from Bruce Banner (but, unlike a real CR, Banner just needs some recovery time before he can Hulk out again).

Rampage is born. Has a green gamma-infused spark. Gets stronger as he gets angrier, and can regrow from damage. Has a powerful gamma blaster in tank form.

Since neither protoform had a personality shell program installed yet, Oil Slick is controlled entirely by the symbiont, and Rampage is a near-mindless vessel of Rage, but defers to Oil Slick as a brother. They attack the Avengers because they can, and the Avengers barely escape in a Quinjet, airlifting the damaged Autobot as well.

Soon, at Avengers Towers, the Autobot is dying due to half his body being on another planet. Earth does not have the technology to save him, but he lasts long enough to teach Tony Stark how to make a sort of Transformer. Tony himself, with his experience as Iron Man, and Spider-Man with his speed and reflexes, are the only Avengers able to pilot such a thing.

Tony Stark builds for himself a new version of the Iron Man armor that can shift into a man-sized jet, and is otherwise souped up with Cybertronian technology.

He offers to also make a jet for Spider-Man, but Peter says he is more comfortable with his Spider-Cycle. Yes, the Peter Parker in this universe has a Spider-Cycle. Deal with it. So Tony makes Peter's bike able to tranform into armor that resembles it's rider. Features industrial-strength webshooters and a pair of turbines mounted on his back which provide just enough lift for web-swinging.

Tony and Peter hunt down Oil Slick and Rampage. Spider-Man manages to deal enough damage to Oil Slick's body that the symbiont flees into the sewers. Iron Man rejiggers his repulsor ray with what he's learned of Cybertronian tech, and uses it to trap Rampage in statis lock (tank form, unable to move). Rampage is later dropped in the ocean because killing him might be wrong, and he's too hard to damage anyway.

The Avengers find no trace of the Decepticon and the other protoforms, but until they do, they put the Spider-Cycle and Iron Transformer into storage.

Wave 2: Spider-Man redeco, Hulk redeco, Human Torch, Wolverine
Wave 3: Captain America, Venom redeco, Iron Man redeco, Thor

Since I see no value in the redecos, I am just combing these two waves. So... Human Torch, Wolverine, Captain America, and Thor. Way to not use any other villains, stupid designers.

Efforts to hunt down the Decepticon have all still failed. But in following what little trail he left, Energon has been discovered. More recently, Reed Richards has developed an amazing new alloy by combining Energon and Vibranium. This new metal will adjust its frenquency when in contact with another metal, taking on the properties of that other metal. Reed then gets a warning that one of his satellites has detected Galactus approaching, so he calls in the Avengers.

Suprisingly, the Decepticon shows up to reveal that the looming threat is not Galactus, but Unicron. To ensure his own survival, the Decepticon freely shares all the information he has on the subject. Thor descends from Asgaard, which in this universe he does only when the whole planet is in danger.

Reed uprades the Iron Transformer and Spider-Cycle so that they can maneuver in outer space. Reed then designs a simpler control system, so that one doesn't need Spider-Man's reflexes to operate a Transformer.

He and Tony then build a Humvee that transforms into a mech for Captain America. The mech's shield is composed of Energon/Vibranium alloy, so that when Cap's shield is inserted in the center, the mech's shield becomes just as indestructable.

They make a rally car that transforms into a mech for Wolverine, with Energon/Vibranium alloy claws that shift to match Wolverine's adamantium skeleton.

The Human Torch gets a transforming jet that can channel his fire without melting.

Thor gets a transforming plane that can channel his lightning and uses Vibranium/Energon alloy to mimic his Mjolnir.

Bruce Banner doesn't want a mech, and no one wants him to have one as Hulk, but he occupies himself discussing science stuff with the Decepticon.

Eventually, the Avengers and the Decepticon head into space and break their way inside the planet eater. They manage to take out some of his internal defenses, but realize that Unicron is building new defenses at a faster rate. Just before the Avengers are completely overwhelmed, Thor unleashes all his awesome power in an electric surge that forces Unicron to reboot. All his defenses shut down long enough for the Avengers to plant something that Bruce Banner gave them and to escape. The Decepticon breaks off and heads deeper into Unicron, but the Avengers do not have enough time to chase him down. They exit Unicron, and it is revealed that what Banner gave them is a modified version of the Decepticon's space-bridge bomb, which prompty goes off and warps Unicron halfway across the universe.

The Avengers return to Earth. Reed Richards informs them that their mechs have been so damaged by Unicron that they won't be usable again. In addition, all the Energon/Vibranium alloy he had has been used up. The Avengers say goodbye to their awesome toys, and wonder if the Decepticon was still inside Unicron when the planet eater shifted locations.

Wave 4: Iron Man mold 2, Spider-Man mold 2, Wolverine redeco

I'm not sure what to do with this wave. Spider-Man now has a helicopter and Iron Man has a different jet. And they are combiners. Which is cool, except... they combine into something absolutely hideous. I can't even tell what the robot is supposed to be. It looks like Spider-Man is wearing a dead spider on his head.

In fact, I'm just going to treat it like the joke it is. Peter Park and Tony Stark are hanging out, and one of them brings up that, way back in Wave 1, Peter rejected Tony's idea of making a transforming air vehicle. This leads to Tony showing him designs for the transforming helicopter that could-have-been. Tony goes on to say that he really wishes Peter had said yes, because he even had plans for combining the two vechicle forms. Peter asks if they could have also combined the two robot forms. "Er... sort of..." is the reply, before Stark shows him the embarrassing possiblity, which makes Peter very glad he uses his Spider-Cycle instead.

Wave 5+

Everything else so far is just another version of Spider-Man or Iron Man. None of them are worth devoting plot to.

Wave 8: Hulk remold redeco, Ghost Rider, Iron Man mold 4(?), War Machine

This one hasn't come out yet, but shows promise. I'm thinking the spark of Oil Slick, by virtue of dying on Earth, had descended into Mephisto's Hell. It makes a deal with the devil to become a ghost rider, and the hellfire-infused spark gains a new body by taking over and corrupting the Spider-Cycle.

Thus do we have Afterburner. With magical fire and a mace whose chain can increase in length at his disposal. Anyone cut down by his burning buzzsaw will not only have their body destroyed, but also have their spark painfully shredded.

Afterburner destroys the Iron Transformer and escapes Avengers Tower with the Avengers on his tail. Reaching the ocean, salvages Rampage from the ocean depths and frees him from stasis lock, as well as rendering immune to the same type of defeat again. Afterburner sics Rampage on the Avengers as a distraction while he travels to where the Decepticon was storing the other protoforms. Using arcane and evil magic, Afterburner summons Mephisto's demon followers to possess the protoforms by sacrificing their sparks. This gives rises to an army of Devilcons (with appearence based on http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Demons ).

Meanwhile, Rampage is squaring off with the Hulk, resulting in extensive collateral damage. The Hulk goads Rampage into transforming into his tank mode, and shooting him with his Gamma Blaster. What would be fatal to anyone else only makes the Hulk stronger, who then smashes Rampage into pieces, a condition that will take a very long time indeed to recover from.

Then the Devilcons attack New York. The Avengers split up to take them on, except for Iron Man, who says he is busy finishing his latest project. Each Avenger manages to take down a Devilcon or two, but they are outnumbered, made worse by the discovery that they can undergo asexual reproduction.

Tony Stark and his new partner, James Rhodes, arrive on the scene in the new -- and huge -- Iron Transformer 2 and War Transformer. Even they are not strong enough to take down Afterburner despite having size advantage. Tony and James switch to vehicle modes and reveal that they are combiners, like Tony always wanted. Together they form a hovercraft which the other Avengers board.

Moving on to a desperate plan B, Tony flies to the center of New York and activates a device created by Reed Richards. It is a further modification of the space bridge bomb, connected to the core of the Autobot from Wave 1. Tapping into a quantum bond between the two halves of the Autobot -- the half on Earth and the half on Cybertron -- Tony transports all of New York to the planet Cybertron.

The city lands on Cybertron at the same time as a Predacon named Megatron was in the middle of stealing a mysterious golden disc.

The Maximals who run Cybertron, led by Optimus Primal, quickly assess the situation and help the Avengers defeat Afterburner and the Devilcons. This turns out to be a mistake. The death of the Devilcons completes an elaborate ritual as planned by Mephisto. The ritual allows Mephisto himself to take possession of someone in the vincity. He had planned on possessing one of the Avengers, but with the surprise of being summoned on Cybertron, he instead takes possession of a robot that gives off a vibe similar to himself: Megatron.

The power of the demon Mephisto causes Megatron to reconfigure into a new and more powerful form (Transmetal II Meg without the dragon parts). Now going by Mephistron, the monstrosity proves to be more than the Avengers and Maximals can handle.

Optimus Primal mutters a prayer to Primus, the father of Transformers and spirit of Cybertron. This inspires Captain America to make a rousing speech addressed to Primus, asking for assistance. Primus is moved by the union of human and Maximal, and uses his awesome power to reform the mechs that the Avengers used in Wave 1 and 2, now stronger due to being purely Cybertronian. He also creates a mech for the Hulk, which can transform into a bulldozer.

The Avengers and Optimus Primal pool their powers and defeat Mephistron. Expecting to be sent back to Earth's Hell where he can begin a new plan, Mephisto is dismayed to find himself in the Pit, the bad afterlife for Transformers... which just happens to be located inside Unicron.

The Avengers and Maximals have a party before the humans return to Earth.
