They're Mechanical Chain Bases, and are mainly for background displays for Gundam figures. They're 6" by 6" and connect for larger backgrounds. There's also a lot of different looking backgrounds with different types of accessories, and I'm glad I finally convinced myself to pick some up. Just google them and you'll see links to stores or Ebay for them.
I have 8 of them myself, and couldn't be happier with them..
