Profile: Cybertronian Mythology Archive Project: Volume 1 (Revised Edition):

Deep in Cybertronian myth lurks a creature of shadows, a predator who is so horrific, so terrifying that even his seemingly innocuous name evokes a shiver in every Cybertronian who hears it. Bomb-Burst. Often his name was not even spoken for fear it would invoke his presence. The Hunter, The Predator, The Vampire, rather than his name.

Legend tells us of the ultimate predator who steals his victims in the city, as cities are his preferred hunting grounds, using the darkness, shadows and perfect silence. Often snatching them while with a group of peers. His purpose to drain his victim's energon for his own use. Not even the safest city could stave off the Terror in the Night.

Once in his sharply clawed actuators, all hope is lost. Fangs capable of penetrating the hardest metals, slide through the armor as if it was the softest alloy. And once he’s gotten under your dermal layers, there he will stay until he has finished feasting on your energon, until your energon is gone. The lifeless husks of his victims, grotesquely mangled and twisted, horror etched onto their faces, would be found the next morning. Sometimes mechs would go missing, their peers seeing them dragged into the shadows, and they never were to be found again.

Though many evils lurk in the darkness of the night, the legends say the surest way to tell The Predator has been in your midst is by, most easily noticed, an eviscerated corpse. The Vampire is said to be very methodical. The victim’s optics crushed, vocal processor removed, and fuel pump ripped out, and of course every possible bit of energon drained. Most often the entrails of meals strewn about, dropped in the wake of his energon soaked exit.

Before you write this off as myth, which yes, the legend has embedded itself deep into the mythology of our culture, bear in mind this creature really does exist.

His particular need to feed off the fuel of others has lead him to join the Decepticons and his reputation as a nightmare and remorseless killer suited him to become a feared assassin. With Cybertron gone dark, keeping his desired habits as a loner is impossible. Trading his myth for easy access to fuel, he skulks amongst the Decepticon army who can take him to his preferred energon vessels, Autobots. His twisted personality normally off puts even the vilest Decepticons.

Between his odd ‘religious’ practices, his weird habits, cold, aloof personality, twisted idea of how to relate to others, and constantly reminding even his 'comrades' that very little keeps them from being his next meal, and he will use them as food; not many officers are willing to allow him as part of their unit.

At times he can be found separated from the rest of the crew. This is when he is the most dangerous. If he is not with his commanding officer, he is on the hunt, feeling a wicked hunger inside that can only be satisfied with the hunt, feast, and kill. He becomes little more than a savage, the more fear and terror he causes, the more wild his desires until… once gorged upon as many victims as he can find, he lurks back to his master with no remorse for the trail of bodies left in his wake.

Abilities: Designed and built to be the ultimate predator, Bomb Burst is a deadly mix of perfect silence and remorseless killer. Strong, agile, courageous, intelligent, he deftly uses the element of surprise to a terrifying and visceral level. He strikes silently, hard and fast from the shadows. His image carefully crafted to strike fear, his personality programmed to horrify.

His optics are tuned to low light conditions. He needs little light to see well. But bright flashes will blind him. Light levels that most find simply well lit he finds nearly blinding. His visor slides down only for specific uses. As his optics can’t handle bright flashes, the visor helps diffuse bright incoming light. It also blurs the red glow from his optics to help him camouflage.

His armor may be weak, but makes nearly no sound when he moves. His strength is formidable. He does not look strong, he’s very lithe and his preference for attacks that use his agility tend to lead others to believe he does not possess much strength or melee ability at all. He prefers to have others underestimate him. He is strong and well skilled in melee. His vehicle mode has specially designed rotor fans that emit almost no noise/no heat. His coloring is dark blue with hints of red, as it blends him into the city-scapes.

His pièce de résistance is his fangs. Serrated in the back to aid him in slicing through any armor, no matter how tough or thick, quickly and easily. Tiny hooks in the back of the fangs that dig into whatever he’s sunk his fangs in to prevent his victim from pulling away. The fangs are retractable, he keeps them retracted when not in use, they are twice as long as when retracted. Made of near indestructible metal they retain their sharpness despite the materials he pushes them through, only occasionally needing sharpened.

The fangs are the beginning of a complicated system of fuel intake. Holes in the point of the fangs allow energon to enter by the aid of his fuel pump. Sensors also located in the fangs collect information on the material he is slicing through to activate the pumping system at the proper time. Telling him when he’s completely punctured the armor, reached the fuel line, and lastly alerting his pump that he has entered energon.

Weaknesses: His method of fuel intake is extremely inefficient, he must often ‘feed’ several times a day or risk stasis lock. All other method of intake have proven to be even less efficient and thus the fangs are his only viable option for refueling. He becomes little more than a savage beast when his energon levels are low, constantly trying to keep himself under control. The need to hunt overwhelming. He also prefers to gorge himself. Savagery again rearing it’s head, he becomes an unstoppable force until unable to take in one more drop of energon. His light sensitivity is a huge liability, especially in low light when the apertures in his optics are open more.

Bomb Burst is woefully socially awkward and inept because of programming and so little contact with others before the war. He absolutely can not relate to others. Being that he depends on the Decepticon army so much for his food supply, he puts in an effort to play nice, but rarely succeeds. Most consider him to have a miserable personality and no sense of humor.
